"They say that God has a plan for you, you know?"
Staring at the face of a scared child, someone who should by all rights be classified as a child in of themselves is comforting them with cliched Christian comfort lines. A quaint, if not expected response.
Except, that can't be right. A child should not bear the burden of comforting another child. But that isn't exactly what's happening here. Though he has the body of a child, this person certainly cannot be classified as one.
Even if his body is getting closer to that of an adult's, a teenager should still not be classified as one. So then, why does this boy seem so mature? A quick look into his background would reveal that he is, in fact, a teenager-around 15 or 16 years of age. Actually, he's somewhat famous around Japan, which is obviously where he lives and goes to school. A certain, highly popular school activity, which in fact followed a VERY…disastrous event made him quite well-known throughout the country. But…does that explain the look in his eyes?
Taking his mental maturity into account, one might assume that those two events were the cause for his rapid growth. And they wouldn't be too far off, except that those events only further emphasized his increasingly evolving mindset; they were not the catalyst.
No, even that's wrong. There was no one specific event that made him like this. EVERYTHING was the catalyst. His entire life has shaped his current worldview.
So, was he a Christian, then? Someone who either spent years listening to one sermon or another about the Lord? Or, maybe he was someone with a troubled past, a boy who'd come to God out of desperation and found his prayers answered?
Well, that second one is close to the truth, but even that's not the entire story. One could say his journey to God started on the day he was born…and ended on the day he died.
"It all started when I was four. I was diagnosed as quirkless then. In our society back then, that was the equivalent of…well, it would be comparable to being a black slave during America in its earliest century. I know that might come off as insensitive or far too exaggerated, but I honestly feel that my life was that bad…"
"Actually, it might've been worse. At least those slaves had the chance to fight back in their lifetime. They were only slaves in some parts of America, and they had a chance of being freed-either by living up North or if their owner was kind enough, even if that was rare. Hell, at least some whites helped them. I didn't have any of that. If I had the option of being reincarnated as a slave back then, with my memories intact, or to walk among the living again, I'd choose reincarnation in a heartbeat."
"But, you're probably wondering what exactly led me down this path, right? No, wait, you already know all of this. You're curious about how I, Izuku Midoriya, came to forsake my life as a government sponsored-or even comic book traditional-hero, aren't you? My friends probably told you my origins dozens of times, didn't they? But, what kind of story would this be if I didn't recount my history and then led you on a journey to the critical juncture that led me to becoming the entity that I am today? So, please, bear with me, little Sister."
"It all started several centuries ago, in China. A baby was born that emitted light, sort of like a human flashlight. Starting from there, what you'd refer to as superpowers began manifesting in other children. In another world, these people might be called Mutants, but here, powers soon became the norm. Now, 80% of the population has some sort of super-ability, known as a 'quirk.' Why call it quirk, you ask? Well, I'm sure they taught you some sort of history-or you could just look at my analogy from earlier- and you definitely know that any difference is a good enough reason to discriminate against someone. I'm sure, then, that you can imagine what followed: Criminal activity ran rampant as people used their newfound abilities for self-gain. And since people could bypass traditional limits, any villain with the right power could essentially kill any person that opposed them. But then, people began to combat this villainy, and an age of Heroes began! These powers were re-labeled as quirks to make them sound more appealing, and people were taught how to control their abilities and fit in better at school. That's the general, government-approved gist of it, anyway."
"Now, then. You can probably guess-if you haven't already heard it before-how I was treated after being labeled as a powerless entity. You know Kacchan, I'm sure…Heh, haven't thought about that guy in years…"
The person he was talking to suddenly started moving their head downward, prompting Izuku to snap out of his daydream.
"Hey, sis! C'mon, you asked me to tell you my origin story again! I thought you liked hearing about when I was alive!"
The person who Midoriya referred to as "Sister" jerked her head up in an attempt to remain awake and looked at her "Brother" with a confused expression, making Izuku think twice about what he'd just said.
"…Okay, so maybe neither of us like hearing about when we were alive, but at least let me explain it in full! Even if I'm dead, I still like explaining things!"
"…"
Silence. And then-
"Giggle! Pfft! Izuku, that was so dumb!" His sister began laughing at how pathetic her brother's statement was, causing Izuku's face to rapidly change from a lighter tone to a bright red color.
Guess some things never change, even in death, she thought.
"Anyway, I'm sorry for nodding off. At the very least, it'll be cool to see what led to us meeting, so I'll stay awake until we get there…even if I don't like everything. After all, I'm supposed to counter your righteous rage with my unyielding compassion, right?" she said.
Izuku nodded. "Yeah, that's right. It's what He chose us for-to dispense vengeance on the unrepentant and forgive the guilty. Anyway, where was I? Oh, right!"
"They all treated me like I was some inhuman entity, someone that only existed to be used for their convenience. Back in those days, when we were kids, we all wanted to be like All Might-which actually seems pathetic now-but I had no quirk. Because of that, everyone told me that I couldn't be a hero-my so-called friends, my teachers, the doctors…even my mom." Izuku shed tears in remembrance of his mother, the person whom he loved the most in the world. His sister, obviously, took up the number 2 spot (well, she would be number one at some point, since his mother wasn't immortal) and knew when her brother's mind was in a dark place…and remembering his time at UA didn't help him. So…
"Umph!" Izuku gasped slightly as his sister embraced him, wiping the tears from his eyes.
"Take your time. I'm not going anywhere," Her brother sobbed quietly as she said that.
"…"
After some time, he calmed down.
"Sorry," he said. "Our immortality gets to me sometimes."
"I know. I lost my hero decades ago, so I know how you feel."
"Yeah, your life was bad, too, wasn't it?"
"Mmhm. That's why…I'm really glad I met all of you. Even if I became who I am because of someone you hate, I can't stay mad at the Stranger. I know what he did and why you can't forgive him, but…I'm grateful for what he did."
Izuku sighed. "…I guess you're right; maybe I'm being too hard on him. You've forgiven him, and his victim needed to be betrayed so that humanity could be saved, so maybe the problem is me."
'Well, you have a lot of time to forgive him."
"Chuckle…That's true."
"…"
The two of them just laughed for a while, enjoying the infinite time they had together to think through any issues that might've come up. Eventually, they were able to get back on track, and Izuku resumed his story.
A young Izuku Midoriya is scared. Scared of one thing:
His best friend.
"You really think you can beat the three of us without a quirk?"
A young boy with spiky blonde hair was standing in front of the boy with two of his friends. All three of them had been ganging up on another schoolmate, who was currently balled up, being shielded by Izuku.
"Having a quirk doesn't make someone a hero! And besides, I can't just let you beat him up, Kacchan!" Midoriya screamed, despite cowering in fear. Really, his bravery was commendable…but his durability was not.
"Heh." The young boy named Kacchan put a fist to his hand, an explosion coming out of it. Beside hi, the other two started changing, as well. These were the results of their quirks-superpowers that Izuku didn't have.
"Alright then, Deku!" Kacchan had a sickly sweet smile on his face as he addressed his playmate. "Let's see what a worthless loser can do without a quirk."
All three of them proceeded to gang up on Izuku, who had no way of fighting back. This was an event that happened most days of the week, with any complaining on the side of the Midoriya's being disregarded and dismissed because of two simple facts: students that were bullying him had great quirks, and thus, should they become heroes, their schools would gain notoriety from them, and 2. A quirkless person couldn't be a hero, so the schools had no need to protect him at the expense of their other prodigies.
But the worst part was the repeat offender. Katsuki Bakugou-or as Midoriya called him, Kacchan-would always go out of his way to make Izuku's-no, to make Deku's life miserable. Why? Izuku certainly didn't know it at the time. Of course, with a century or two of hindsight, the answer was obvious: Katsuki Bakugou believed that might made right, so for someone without any power to try and be a hero, to try and save him, it was a sin on Izuku's part. How pathetic it was, then, when Izuku came to learn that there actually was true good and true evil in the world, and that HE'D be the one to deliver justice on those who did not repent.
But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I, the Writer, am a being second only to God in terms of power, because I write about what He has made. Therefore, I must deliver the story to the best of my ability, which means not getting too distracted…hopefully. We humans are currently flawed, after all. But I digress.
We all know the general details of what Bakugou did, so I'll just skip to the happiest day of Izuku's life.
It started off terribly, which for Izuku, was completely normal.
"Now, class," the teacher began, "You're all close to becoming high schoolers, which means it's time to start thinking about your careers." He glanced at their application tests before throwing them in the air. "Eh, who am I kidding? You all want to become heroes, right?"
"YEAH!"
The entire class erupted into cheers, with everyone-illegally-activating their quirks in excitement. Everyone except for two people: a quiet, green-haired boy who had no quirk, and an ashen-blonde boy whose feet were on the desk.
"Hey, teach! Don't lump me in with these crappy side-characters!"
"…"
The class went quiet upon hearing Bakugou's insult. Only to immediately begin hurling insults back at their classmate in retaliation.
"Oh yeah, aren't you applying to UA, Bakugou?" Their teacher, in an attempt to get things back on track, asked him about his preferred choice of schools
"Damn right! I even aced the mock test!"
"Woah, UA?"
"Is he serious?"
"Does he really think he can get in?"
The students all began expressing their doubts about Katsuki's ability to get into the top hero school,
" -heh…Hahahahahaha!" Bakugou started laughing at their retorts before standing up on his chair.
"Listen up!" Bakugou began speaking while waving his hands around. "None of you weak-ass losers have anything close to the power I have! You all would be lucky to end up as sidekicks to some D-lister!"
"Oh yeah, Midoriya. Aren't you applying to UA as well?" Their teacher, in a move that lacked any sort of tact, just singled out the one defenseless boy in their midst.
"…"
At that moment, Mdoriya wished-not for the first, nor for the last time-that he didn't exist. Everyone's eyes immediately honed in on him, as he did his best to shrink into nothingness and remain unnoticed. A wish that would not be granted.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!'
The entire class began laughing at the poor boy, seemingly enthralled by the absurdity that he could attend the top hero school in Japan.
"He doesn't even have a quirk! The fuck's he gonna do, cry a villain to submission!?"
"You can't be a hero without a quirk, dumbass!"
The class kept on berating him, even as he tried defending himself.
"No, they got rid of that rule! I could be the first one!"
No one listened to him. No one even cared about his point-UA HAD gotten rid of the quirk requirement.
"Deku…"
No one except for Bakugou, who didn't like what he heard. Poor Izuku didn't notice the look he was receiving from his supposed best friend.
RING!
Thankfully, the bell rang just a moment later, dismissing the class.
Izuku was just sitting at his desk, looking at an article about the new heroes that he'd seen debut that morning and jotting down his observations in his notebook.
SNATCH!
Until Kacchan ripped it out of his hand.
"'Hero analysis for the future?' You really think this'll help you, nerd?"
"H-hey, give that back!" Izuku tried in vain to get his notebook back.
But Bakugou completely ignored him, and proceeded to use his quirk to blow up the notebook and throw it's crumpled remains out the window, much to the dismay of Deku.
The bully then proceeded to go on a rant about how only he would get into UA, because the only one that should go from a pathetic public school to the most prestigious hero school in Japan was him. The quirkless Deku, of all people, should not be the one to ruin that. This all ended with Bakugou lighting an explosion on Deku's shoulder.
As Bakugou and his lackeys walked away, he turned back around to say one last thing.
"Y'know, if you really wanna be a hero, there's a way."
"W-what?" Izuku asked with hope in his voice.
"Jump off the roof and hope you get a quirk in your next life!" Bakugou walked away while he and his friends laughed.
At that moment though, all Izuku felt was rage. Rage at this person that had the nerve to call himself a hero, someone like All Might, a protector of the innocent. He didn't hate Bakugou, no, he hated his personality. Kacchan had so much power, so much potential, but…he embraced evil and cruelty instead of justice and kindness. Everyone did when it regarded Izuku, but Kacchan was the worst.
"Hey, Sis. Are you okay?"
"Huh?" Looking down, the Sister of Izuku Midoriya noticed how tightly clenched her hands were, and figured that she'd probably been shaking with rage as well. Not at all fitting how she was supposed to act, but…
"I…I can't stand it! Even if I know he repented and that it's not up to me, I still can't forgive him. It's my role, but…I…hate him…"
"…"
"…"
"Sis…"
The girl just held her head in shame, crying lightly.
"Then tell me, if you were to actually go up or down and find him, wherever he may be, would you beat him?"
"Gasp…" Her eyes went wide with shock at imagining that scenario. Sure, she disliked Bakugou and just said that she hated him…but if hate was the opposite of love, and love was to have someone's best interests in mind, could she say that she had his worst interests in mind?
"Would you torture him, force him to relive all the moments of pain and anguish in his life? We can use magic; I'm sure you could do it. But can you actually work up the courage to?…Can you…be as vengeful as me?"
"…"
His sister was silent for a while before responding.
"…No," she said quietly. Even if she didn't like someone, even if he tortured her Brother just about every day of their lives since they were children, she couldn't enact vengeance on Katsuki Bakugou. She just couldn't.
Izuku smiled. "That's because you're an angel, little Sister."
"Sniff…sniffle…" The little Sister of Izuku Midoriya began to cry in happiness. Her brother truly was the kindest. The only one comparable was her hero, who she hadn't seen in a long time.
Some amount of time had surely passed, but in this realm that was not physical, one could say that hours had gone by, or that just a few minutes were spent on his Sister's tears.
"Of course, then I met the sludge villain. He was running from All Might and spotted me when he came out of the sewers. He tried killing me so he could use my body as a decoy to fool All Might, and I thought I would die. Then, I'm sure you heard that All Might saved me, and how I clinged to his leg as we leapt away. Then, since I'd die if he dropped me, we landed on the roof of a nearby building…I'm sure you've heard about how he had a time limit back then, and it just so happened to be then. I discovered his secret, then I asked if someone quirkless could be a hero…" Izuku paused before continuing. "We both know what happened after, but…he said no. I-I know…God exists and all, so man isn't what I should be getting my approval from, but still…Guess that's why the Bible says not to have false idols. Heh."
"Hm, yeah, that makes sense." His Sister's expression of sadness upon hearing her older Brother's rejection by his idol-however pagan a tradition it may be-turned more introspective as she pondered the possible interpretations of the Mosaic law.
"Giggle! You look adorable when you're thinking about something!" Izuku began chuckling at his Sister's expression, causing her to lightly blush in embarrassment.
"A-anyway! Tell me about the rest! I want to hear how you…uh…"
"Oh, yeah." Izuku's expression turned grim. "Almost forgot we're talking about a pretty morbid subject here. But…" He put his hand to his chin. "Just because the subject is dark, it doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about it. And besides, it helped out a lot, in the long run. And, most of all, you would've died for good if we celestial spirits didn't exist. So…I'm glad that I became the Spectre…and that we were able to save you."
"…Yeah. I am, too. So, since I want to smile, please, tell me about how you saved all those people, and avenged them when they couldn't do it for themselves!"
"Young man, you can be a hero!"
"Sniff! Sniffle!" As soon as Izuku Midoriya heard those words from All Might of all people, he collapsed to the ground and began sobbing. What had started as one of the worst days of his life now became the best day of his life.
…If only his life would last…
As much as he…well, he didn't love punishing the guilty, per se, but he accepted the fact that there was evil in the world and that not all people would stop if they got help, so he did have to…stop injustice by any means necessary…
In any case, as the story goes, Izuku began training in order to ready his body for All Might's power, One for All. If he followed the training regiment, Izuku would inherit the power just before the UA entrance exams in ten months.
Those ten months came and went, Izuku had to eat All Might's hair to get the power, he did well on the written portion, and almost failed the practical portion. Fortunately, he got by on his hero points and got admitted into class 1-A. On his first day, he almost got expelled due to him not being familiar enough with his quirk to minimize the damage dealt to his body as a backlash (even though I, the Writer, have read a story by another Writer that detailed what should've happened-that being that Aizawa or any other teacher should've read the files of their students and seen that Izuku was quirkless until just recently, because it wouldn't make sense for them not to read their own students' files-and I don't understand why Aizawa didn't excuse the one kid who clearly just got and couldn't use his full power). But, young Izuku persevered, figuring out how to use One for All to maximize the power and reduce the backlash to one finger instead of his whole arm. This was enough to keep him in the school, so it all worked out in the end.
…Except it didn't. Because he died the very next day.
…
"I AM…COMING THROUGH THE DOOR, LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" The voice of the number one pro hero, All Might, filled the classroom as the students were waiting for their teacher to arrive. As he came into the room, he was met with lots of cheer and bewilderment.
"It's really him!"
"All Might's teaching at UA!?"
"Hey, it's his silver age costume!"
All the students were enamored by the revelation that they would be taught by All Might himself, even his protege, Midoriya.
"Today's exercise is!" He flipped over a card that had the phrase "battle training" on it. "A combat exercise!"
"YEAH!"
Cheers of applause erupted throughout the class. Evidently, everyone was excited about using their quirks to fight one another…especially Bakugou. And of course, the only one not excited was Deku, who was terrified at the prospect of fighting Kacchan. A fear that would be proven rational, in the worst way possible.
…
"You all look so heroic!"
20 minutes later, the students of class 1-A had all stepped onto Battlefield Gamma, wearing their specially-made costumes. Indeed, they certainly looked like one would imagine a superhero to look like. Granted, there were some…mature outfits in there (cough Creati, Uravity, and Invisible Girl cough), but everyone had an outfit seemingly designed around their quirks, so it was probably…acceptable (It really isn't, but what am I supposed to do? Even the Writer can't just make new costumes for no justifiable reason. I can only change the cannon in ways that make sense, like parallel universe shenanigans or minute changes to the events that happen).
"Now then, for today's exercise, you'll be paired up in randomly chosen teams of two!" All Might explained.
Iida raised his hand to ask a question. "Sir! Is that really the best way to divide teams?"
"Well, if you think about it, Pros often have to work with other heroes that they don't know, so this scenario is perfectly logical," Deku explained, to which Iida nodded in response.
"Yes, that makes sense. Please forgive my lapse in judgement!"
"Er, it's fine. Moving on! You'll be assigned via lottery balls! Please come up one at a time!"
After that, the teams were divided into the most common pairings, otherwise known as the cannon groups. I'm sure you all know how this will go-at least in some fashion-but I can't exactly not tell you how or why events happen, so retelling the story for a bit is a necessary evil.
In any case, this was just a quick way of saying that Uraraka and Deku were up against Iida and Bakugou.
…
"And…BEGIN!" All Might's voice filled the four students' ear via their earpieces, signaling the start of the match. Immediately, the hero team began racing through the building, trying to find the "bomb" that was rigged to blow.
KABOOM!
Izuku just barely dodged an explosion that was aimed at his face, falling to the floor as a result. When the smoke cleared, Izuku saw Bakugou, annoyed that he'd missed. As they got back up, Izuku formulated a plan to best deal with the obstacle in front of them.
"Uraraka, run! I'll hold off Kacchan while you find Iida and the bomb!"
"You got it!" Uraraka had the utmost faith in her partner as she left him to fend for himself.
A decision that she would soon come to regret.
…
"So, you gonna show me up with that quirk you been hidin? Deku!?" Kacchan demanded before lunging at Deku. Fortunately, Kacchan had a predictable fighting style, which Izuku used to slam him to the ground.
"UGHUH!" Bakugou gasped for air as he was surprised by the feeling of pain spreading around his body. Looking up, he could make out a determined and angry expression on Deku's face, seeable because half of his makes broke off after the initial explosion.
"You always lead with a right hook, so it was easy to counter it! I'm not going to be your punching bag anymore, you hear me!? From now on, Deku's the name of a hero!
If anyone heard those words, they might feel inspired, or at least start to root for Deku's victory in the face of his bully.
"Grr..!"
But as for the bully himself, he could only feel rage. Rage that this loser, this lying, back-stabbing Deku had the nerve to try and be anything more than beneath him. He'd done it their whole lives. The quirkless Deku had always looked down on Kacchan, always treating him like someone weak, someone that needed to be saved…all the while being unable to help anyone whatsoever. And that was why…Deku needed to-
"HAAAA!" Kacchan blasted himself back up and proceeded to attack Deku.
Elsewhere, Uraraka and Iida were having their own standoff, one that was nowhere near as intense as what was happening below them…Had either of them been more proactive, they might've noticed the tension surrounding their respective partners and tried to do something about it, but they didn't…And they would come to regret that later.
"Pant…pant" "Pant…pant"
Both boys were gasping as their battle had left the two of them exhausted. While Izuku was great at memorizing quirk uses and applications, Bakugou had an innate talent for fighting and a powerful quirk, whereas One for All threatened to destroy Izuku and whoever he used it on, so it wasn't a viable option in this scenario.
"Growl Y'know, you could probably use that flashy quirk of yours to beat me here! So why don't you!?" Bakugou screamed as he began chasing the now fleeing Izuku. "Have you just been looking down on me all these years, hiding your damn quirk and laughing behind my back!?" Bakugou fired off an explosion that hit Deku straight in the chest, sending him flying.
"You think you're something special just because you have a flashy power!? Well, it's nothing compared to mine!" Bakugou then raised his grenade-shaped gauntlet right at Deku, who was struggling to his feet.
"Since you're such a stalker, I'll bet you know that my quirk makes me secrete nitroglycerin. That means my explosions get stronger the more I sweat, but these…These store up all the excess!" Bakugou's glee turned sadistic as he saw Izuku's horrified face. With how much sweat he'd been secreting…
"DON'T, YOUNG BAKUGOU! YOU'LL KILL HIM!" All Might called out from the coms in the security room where he and the other students were waiting. But Bakugou didn't listen.
"HE'LL BE FINE AS LONG AS HE CAN DODGE IT!" Bakugou screeched as he pulled the pin and fired.
…But Izuku didn't dodge it.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH!" Izuku's horrified and pain-filled crèches echoed throughout the building, so much so that even Uraraka and Iida heard it from several stories up.
"HAAAUGH! AAAAAH!" It hurts! It burns! WHY!? WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH!? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS!? WHY AM I SO USELESS!? WHY CAN"T I SAVE MYSELF!? WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DIE!?
…Yes, Izuku Midoriya would surely die. That was an undeniable fact now. His burns were too severe, even for the Pro Hero Recovery Girl. This is how it ended for him. Trapped in this fiery hell and burned to death, the last thing he'd see…
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
…Was the laughing face of his best friend. Mocking him while he killed him, Izuku Midoriya would die, and Katsuki Bakugou wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Why would he? A useless, quirkless little nobody like him wasn't worth anything. Bakugou was right-he couldn't be a hero. But…what was just as worse as the flames…was the fact that Izuku was powerless to save the people that his very existence had wronged.
In his dying moments, all he thought about was all the people he'd let down.
Mom, Dad, All Might…I'm sorry. I failed you all. I couldn't do it! I tried my best, but Bakugou's too strong! I can't beat him! I can't save him from his own evil, I-I…I can't save anyone! All he could remember was the faces that everyone Bakugou had bullied, that he'd dismissed as being weak and not worth the time because they didn't have a strong enough quirk to be a hero. And Izuku hated it. He hated how Bakugou was rewarded for his evil, while everyone else was simply rejected and discarded if they didn't follow him. Why didn't anyone stand up to him? WHERE WAS THE JUSTICE!?
…
And then…he died.
Over in the observation room, All Might and the other students were starting to worry.
"Hey, if Midoriya got hit by that, shouldn't you call off the match?"
"Yeah, there's no way he's fine after that!"
"I have enough faith in a fellow student to believe that they can control their quirk enough to minimize risks, but Bakugou's attack was far too destructive and rash. Shouldn't you intervene?"
…I know that I should've done more, but I wanted to see Midoriya stand up for himself! But…it looks like he would've gotten heavily injured.
"Yes, I should," All Might said. He just had to hope Midoriya was in good enough shape that nothing permanent happened.
"Bakugou! That attack was too reckless! The villain team is disqualified!"
"HUH!?"
Both Iida and Uraraka were shocked by what they just heard. The hero team won by default!? Whatever Bakugou did, it must've been-
"DEKU!" Uraraka realized that whatever merited a disqualification probably did serious harm to her friend. She raced back down, trying to find him. Iida followed suit as the same realization struck him.
"Tch!" Bakugou was annoyed that Deku had gotten him disqualified. Really, he couldn't take a hit? How pathetic. In the end, Deku was just a Deku. "Damn nerd! Always ruining my-!" But whatever insult he was about to hurl died in his throat…as the smoke finally began to clear.
…
"Hey! The smoke's clearing!"
As soon as this was pointed out, all the students and All Might directed their gazes to the screen, where they could make out a silhouette on the floor.
"Isn't that…?"
"Holy crap! Midoriya's unconscious!"
Dammit! How could I've been so careless!? I needlessly endangered my own-no…
"W-wha…?"
"My God…!"
…
"Huagh!…Augh!" Bakugou could only stare in horror as he saw what he did to Dek-no, to Izuku.
"DEKU! Are you ok-hugh!" Uraraka, arriving on the scene, could only gasp in shock as she collapsed to the floor.
"Midoriya! Where are-?" The same fate befell Iida, who dropped to his knees with a look of despair on his face.
All of class 1-A and All Might were either crying, in too much shock to move, or vomiting.
Because what they all saw when the smoke cleared…was the charred corpse of Izuku Midoriya.
"AUGH! HAUG!" All Might could only watch with despair in his eyes. Despair…and overwhelming guilt at what he'd led to happen. Not only had he allowed the match to continue when it was clear that Bakugou wasn't thinking rationally, but now…he'd failed his protege.
"…"
But the one who couldn't even respond to the sight in front of him…
…Was Izuku's murderer, who just stood there, mouth gaping at the sight.
ANDDDDD I'm back with a new story! I know I broke my upload once a week rule-for like two weeks now-but I really have a hard time writing sometimes. That being said, I'm currently working on a new chapter for both My Hero x Sentry and Re: Zero x Ben 10, so you'll hopefully have some more content to read within a week or two.
Now then, on to the notes for this story. I've only ever seen one other story like this on Wattpad, so I thought I'd try my hand at at. Obviously, Izuku Midoriya is going to become the Spectre after having been killed by Kacchan, so the next chapter will deal with him in the afterlife and his return…or whatever I end up writing (it'll most likely be his transformation into the Spectre and everyone else's reactions, though). I'm also going to say this now: This will be a much more…meta story. I'm dealing with religious concepts like God and divine spirits, and I'm a Christian myself, so I'm going to be putting in my own interpretations here. I'm also pseudo self-inserting by identifying myself as the Writer, meaning that I'll break the forth wall. In addition, other celestial entities are going to be in this story. If any of this isn't your cup of tea, I'd advise you to make your own story instead.
