"Are you kidding me?" Joey muttered darkly as she raced across the apartment.
Sure enough, she had burned a cake. All she wanted was a chocolate cake. That was it.
She threw the pan into the sink as she cursed at herself. She thought about Pacey.
It had been three weeks since she had last saw him, and the only reason for that was to ask for permission for him to open back up the Icehouse.
But ever since she saw him, she had never felt more alone. The way he touched her arm and smiled up at her as she told him stories about work. The way he spin her around when he first saw her like it's been ages since he saw her last.
He was opening a restaurant and Joey had burned a store-bought cake. Joey groaned at the smell and then picked up her house phone.
She was about to call him but she knew it would be wrong. But she still found herself typing in his number and calling him.
On the fourth ring, she was about to hang up but then got a hello. She smiled at his voice. It was familiar and comforting. She missed it every day, even Christopher's voice couldn't bring so much comfort to her but yet she found herself fearing over it.
Instead of telling him what was happening, she ended the call. She missed him. But the fear of not knowing if he missed her as much made her want to end it.
She picked up the can of chocolate frosting sitting on the counter and laid on the couch as she started to eat it.
She was just happy that Christopher was out of town so she could allow herself to feel her feelings. Because now all she could do was feel was sorrow and regret. She just needed Pacey but instead, she just had her chocolate can of frosting.
