A/N:- I wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Yay! Today's Christmas! Sorry that I didn't post this chapter sooner but I was deterred by reading Pride & Prejudice.
Anyways, more talk in the ending notes but for now, enjoy the promised Christmas short story!
"Wake up! Wake up!" a voice above her yelled.
"James! Why did you wake me up at. . ." Lily checked the clock, "Seven am?!"
"Come on, Lils. It is Christmas!" James looked like a five year old on sugar rush.
"And it would still be Christmas when it is eleven o'clock. Besides, you are supposed to be a twenty-one year old boyfriend, not a five year old on a sugar rush," Lily said.
"Yeah, I know. But it is christmas!"
Lily just about refrained from saying, 'Yes, it is.'
"And we have presents! Come on, Lils," James gave her his best puppy dog eyes.
"Fine," she grumbled and went down to the living room where the huge Christmas tree was placed. It seemed that Marlene and Dorcas - the girls she had been sharing the house with - had already gotten up and received their presents.
"By the way, how did you come over this early in the morning? I distinctly remember McGonagall saying that no boy would be allowed entrance to the house until at least ten o'clock," Lily said as she opened the gifts from Marlene and Dorcas. They had, as always, given her a joint present. This time however, it wasn't expensive jewellery or dresses, but rather an album of all the images from college.
"She made an exception for today," James said and Lily winced slightly. Sirius and Remus - Marlene and Dorcas' fiances respectively - were as excited about Christmas as James was. She felt for McGonagall.
Lily went through all of the gifts - which included an apology note along with the box of chocolates she loved from Petunia (they had a huge fight the other day), a full witch's costume for Halloween from Sirius and a rare book she had been pining over for weeks from Remus. She couldn't see James' gift.
"Where is it?" she asked.
"There," he pointed at a small, lone box in the middle of the tree where it was so dense she couldn't see anything. She got it out with a little bit of effort to see it was a jewelry box, the kind which stored rings.
She opened it. Inside, there was the most beautiful ring. It was golden with intricate designs of flowers - lilies - and had a beautiful emerald stone which matched her eyes.
"James, is this-?" she couldn't complete the sentence.
"An engagement ring? Why, yes it is," James said with that confident smile but there was nervousness in his eyes.
Lily felt like she couldn't speak. She didn't have to, actually. James took the box from her, got down on one knee and said, "Lily Evans, will you marry me?"
Lily had to blink rapidly to banish the stupid tears which threatened to fall. But those were tears of joy.
"Yes, you stupid, handsome, stubborn man, I will marry you!"
James grinned and put the ring on her finger. It fitted her perfectly. They kissed.
And, at the back of her mind, Lily thought that receiving such a gift definitely made up for waking up in such an ungodly hour.
A/N: So, I actually got a shit ton of books. I'm gonna name of all them because I want to. They are:-
Pride & Prejudice
Sense & Sensibility
Persuasion
Wuthering Heights
Percy Jackson: The Demigod Files
Othello
Hamlet
Julius Caesar
A Midsummer's Night Dream
Romeo & Juliet
Macbeth
The Merchant of Venice
All is well and good but do you see one major thing? Everything (except the Demigod Files) is written in old english and the last seven short stories are written in plays! Were you ever excited to read a book and then you even bought it but you realized while reading that this is in old english and it is going to give you a headache to read? That's me. I literally got a headache trying to read. Then, I gave up on the plays and started reading Pride & Prejudice. I'm currently on the sixth chapter.
That was me. What about you all? What did you get in Christmas? Please read and review.
