Title: The Life Day Pagent

Characters: Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-wan Kenobi, and Captain Rex.

Of all the days to stop laying siege to planets and attacking Republic ships, the Separatists just had to choose today. Ahsoka was supposed to be one of the Angels of Iego in the temple Life Day pagent, and she was dreading it. She wasn't nervous, she just really didn't want to do it. Not that she had much of a choice. Apparently if Anakin had to suffer through it when he was a padawan, then she did too. "You'll just have to find a way to like it." he had said, it was not what she had been hoping to hear. Unless they got called back to the front lines, there was no way out of this. The real problem was that if she was going to be surrounded by normal beings, she could just plaster a fake smile to her face and that would be it. But everyone attending the pagent was Force sensitive, so she was doomed. There were only three hours until the pagent, Ahsoka was going to have to act fast. She went to talk to Obi-wan, but he wasn't of any help, "Being in the pagent is an honor Ahsoka, you should be very excited." he said. Ahsoka then left quickly, otherwise she'd start getting the lecture on honor and responsibility. After some debating, she decided to go to the one person who might actually be able to help her, Rex. She found him at the barracks, "Rex, I have a problem." she said as she approached him, "Oh?" he asked, setting down the gear he'd been cleaning to give her his full attention, "How can I help?" Ahsoka proceeded to explain her problem while pacing back and forth in front of him. "Hmm, that is a tough one." he said as she flopped down next to him on the bench, "I know." she groaned in frustration, "But I do have an idea," he continued, "During the pagent, instead of focusing on how much you dislike it, focus things you like." "Focus on things I like." she repeated slowly. She started to smile, "Rex your amazing!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him in a semi awkward side hug before jumping up, "There's an hour to the pagent I've gotta get ready, thanks Rex." she shouted as she hurried away. Rex just smiled and continued to clean his gear.

After the pagent:

Anakin was impressed, not only had Ahsoka smiled the whole way through the pagent, but it was real smile, the kind that made her eyes light up. He had even prodded their bond through the Force, and she actually felt happy. There's no way she actually enjoyed that, he thought to himself as waited for her to come out from back stage. "Did you enjoy yourself up there?" he asked, "No," she stated, "that was absolutely terrible." "You seemed like you had a good time, I didn't feel a single negative emotion coming from you." he said, and her face lit up like a Life Day tree. "It worked!" she exclaimed, "Um, what worked?" Anakin asked feeling rather confused. "Rex told me to focus things I like, instead of how much I dislike being in the pagent." she said happily, "Rex?" Anakin asked. Ahsoka nodded, "You and Master Kenobi weren't of any help," she said, "So I went to the one person that I knew would be able to help." then she paused for a moment before saying, "It was such a simple solution, I'm surprised you never came up with it." he was surprised too, all those years of suffering from Obi-wan's lecture on what an honor it was to be chosen to be in the pagent, and all he had to do to get out of it was think happy thoughts. Anakin was so stunned he barely noticed Ahsoka start hurrying away, "I've gotta go thank Rex." she shouted over her shoulder, then hurried back to the barracks.

A/N: When I was like, five, I was forced to be in a Christmas pagent and I absolutely hated it. If someone told me what Rex told Ahsoka I probably wouldn't have had such a hard time with it, nor would I have held a grudge for the next six or seven years. So that was basically the inspiration for this story. Thank you for reading, I really hope you enjoyed.
