Title: Candles

Characters: Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka was not feeling very celebratory. Order 66 had happened only a few months ago, and she still struggled to believe it sometimes. Three long years of war and Order 66, so many lives had been lost. Ahsoka wanted to honor them somehow, so she got candles. Not enough candles to represent everyone, she didn't have enough credits for that, but enough for the people who had meant the most to her or impacted her life in some way. The first candle was for the clones who had died on Naboo during the blue shadow virus incident, the second candle was for the squad of clones that had died under her command during the beginning of the battle of Ryloth. She lit a candle for Satine Kryze, though thay had only met that one time on Mandalore. And a candle for the Daughter, who had saved Ahsoka's life on Mortis. A candle for Kalifa, one of the padawans she met after getting kidnapped by Trandoshans. One for Tryla and her people who had been killed on Carlac, and one for Steela Gerrera. She lit a candle for Barriss, she had been lost to the dark side, though whether or not she had died was something Ahsoka didn't know. She had five more candles, the others had been placed around the room of her small house, but these ones would go on the table. The first of them was for Bo-Katan, she was still alive as far as Ahsoka knew, but they had sort of become friends during the Siege of Mandalore and lighting a candle for her felt right. The second candle represented Jesse and the other clones that had died when the Tribunal crashed. The third candle was for all the Jedi, she wasn't sure about Anakin, Obi-wan or Yoda, but it represented them too. The fourth candle was for Padme Amidala, Ahsoka had been shocked when she found out that Padme had died, but she didn't believe the official statement for minute. The fifth candle was for Rex, her greatest friend, and perhaps the only one still alive. Rex who had somehow managed to fight his inhibitor chip long enough to give her the information she needed to save him, and had stood by her side even though it meant fighting his brothers. They had shared their grief for all who were lost before leaving the crash site and going their separate ways. The candles reminded Ahsoka of all of the lives lost and shatterd by the war, but they gave her hope too. Hope that the deaths of so many wouldn't be meaningless, hope that she might one day cross paths Rex or Bo-Katan again, hope that maybe some Jedi might have survived. Hope, that maybe, someday the Empire would fall and the darkness that had washed over the galaxy would one day lift, and the light would shine again.

A/N: I know this one is a bit depressing, but I think I managed to lift it up at the end. I know it seems like a lot of candles, I'm pretty sure its thirteen if you count, but I wanted to represent as many characters as I could. Circumstances may make it difficult for me to write tomorrow but I will do my very best to post a new chapter, it's nothing serious but it just might be difficult for me to find the time. Thank you to anyone reading and following this story, you motivate me to continue writing.
