Title: Decorating

Characters: Boba Fett and Fennec Shand

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.

After a great deal of discussion Fennec and Boba had decided to decorate the palace, but they agreed that the majority of the decorations would be on the upper levels. They did have a reputation to uphold. Boba had gotten all the necessary decorations, and he and Fennec were working on getting them up. Well, at the moment, it was just Fennec. Ugh, she thought, He just had to get a tree that I wouldn't be tall enough to reach the top of. It wasn't like she was short, because she wasn't, but the tree was just a little to tall. "Boba!" she shouted, "Can you help me put the star on the Life Day tree?!" He walked in then abruptly stopped and got a strange look on his face, "Are you going to stand there looking like a man who's just had an epiphany, or are you going to help me?" she asked impatiently. He shook his head once, then walked over, "What do you need?" he asked and she rolled her eyes, "I can't reach the top of the tree to put the star on, I would use the step ladder, but it wobbles to much." Boba looked at her, "Do you trust me?" he asked seriously. "I probably shouldn't," she said, "But I do." "Up you go then." he said and hoisted her up into the air. She secured the star to the top of the tree and Boba set her down. An awkward silence settled for a moment before Boba said, "Anyway, I have something I have to do, so...I'm gonna go." he then walked out of the room. The moment he was gone Fennec sank down into the nearest chair, stared at the tree, and sighed, "Star of Wonder...you got that right."

While Boba was gone Fennec put out some fake flowers, they were fake versions of some bright red flower from Naboo that she couldn't remember the name of. After a while she got bored and hungry, so she went to the kitchen for a snack. As she rummaged around she found some portion bread powder, a couple of ration bars, and a Meiloorun fruit. Deciding that the Meiloorun fruit was her best option she took it, sliced it, and headed back upstairs with her snack. She or Boba would have to go food shopping at some point, How often do we skip meals? she wondered. After her snack she got out the garland and a few other things. She was putting out the hand carved Mandalorian soldiers when Boba got back, "Hey," she said, "Now that your back, I have to take the speeder on a quick errand. Apparently we don't have a lot of food." She also needed to buy him a present, he nodded, "We'll do the garland when you get back."

When Fennec finished her errand and hid Boba's present in her room, she got to work on the garland. Technically they were supposed to be doing this together, but Boba had disappeared to his room. So Fennec got to work hanging the garland, although she really hated that wobbly step ladder. When Boba walked in she was standing on tiptoe, step ladder wobbling dangerously, trying to hang the garland on a hook that was just barely out her reach. He walked over, "I don't think you should be doing that." he said startling her a little, just enough for her to lose her balance. She fell off just as the step ladder tipped over. Boba caught her, "You know, you really shouldn't sneak up on people." she said, "Especially people on wobbly step ladders." "Sorry." he said, though she wasn't sure if he meant it. After a moment she said, "Boba, you can put me down now." "Okay." he said proceeded to drop her onto the nearby couch, "I'll do the rest of the garland, you relax." she would've argued, but a break actually sounded nice. So Boba fixed the step ladder and did the rest of the garland, while Fennec relaxed for all of five minutes before getting to work on the smaller decorations.

A/N: The ending might be a bit abrupt, but it's what I was inspired to write. In other news it sixteen days till Christmas, and twenty days until The Book of Boba Fett.
