Title: Shopping
Characters: Boba Fett and Fennec Shand
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.
Fennec wandered around the marketplace. She had already gotten almost everything on her list. She was only missing one thing, a present for Boba. Sure, she had helped him get his father's armor back, stormed an Imperial Light Cruiser, helped him takeover the criminal empire once ruled by Jabba the Hutt, and nearly died(again) on multiple occasions. That should've been enough, but she still wanted to get him something. She admired some throwing stars and considered getting them for herself, but changed her mind when she saw the price. Over inflated Life Day prices, she thought, I'll just have to get more when the price goes down. She walked from market stall to market stall and found nothing. At one point some old lady tried to sell her some mistletoe, but Fennec brushed her off. Mistletoe hanging in a doorway at the palace was the last thing she needed. Then she saw something perfect and picked it up. It was a small, hand carved Mythosaur skull. There looked to be something carved on the back, but it was in a language she didn't recognize. She didn't know why, but something was telling her that this was the perfect gift for Boba. "Hey, how much for this?" she asked the vendor, "Fifteen wupiupi." he said. Fennec shifted the shopping bag to her other arm and reached into one of the pouches on her belt, Of course he wants Tatooine currency. she thought as she fished out the coins and dropped them on top of the table. She walked back to the speeder, then drove back to the palace.
When she got back she put the food away, then used the gift bag that some free candy had come in for Boba's present. As she walked to her room to hide the gift, she spotted Boba walking around aimlessly, looking like a man who was trying to solve a problem. "What have you got there?" he asked trying to peer in the bag, but she pulled it away and chuckled, "Tis the season for secrets, Boba." she smiled, "But, when I put this away you can help me with the garland." she walked away without another word. Alright, she thought when she put away the gift, Time to deal with whats left of the decorations.
Fennec wasn't normally one to get nervous, but on Life Day morning, she was oddly nervous. She hadn't given a gift to someone, for any occasion, in years. Then Boba gave her a gift, throwing stars. "Boba you shouldn't have," she said as she opened it up and pulled away the fluff, "But I'm very happy that you did." She held one of the throwing stars up and smiled at him. He smiled back and said, "I'm happy that your happy. You've done a lot for me so I felt like I should give something" "Well," she said, "I got you a little something too." No turning back now. she thought and pulled out the gift bag. He took it and pulled out the Mythosaur skull, "I know it's not much," she said, "But I saw it and thought of you." Boba turned it over in his hand, "Where did you get this?" he asked, "From some vendor at the market, it looks like it has writing on the back, but I don't know the language." "This belonged to my father." he said, finally tearing his gaze away from the carving to look directly at her, "The language on the back is Mandoa, it says my fathers name on it." he paused, then suddenly hugged her. "Thank you," he whispered, "For this and everything else you've done." Fennec sat there in a state of semi shock, as the last several days played back in her head she looked up at the star on the tree. Whoever decided to call that thing the Star of Wonder, she thought, Must have been some kind of prophet, I'm not sure I ever could've predicted how this Life Day was going to turn out.
A/N: And there it is. It's a three chapter arc, just like in The Clone Wars. So, who else is excited for the Book of Boba Fett, cause I know I am. I know the ending was a little fluffy, but it felt right. I hope you enjoyed this and I'll be back with another chapter on Sunday.
