Title: Life Day Star
Characters: Boba Fett and Fennec Shand.
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.
Fennec walked out onto the balcony and looked up at the night sky. Boba walked over and rested his hands on the railing, "Today was nice." he said, referring to their earlier gift exchange. "Yeah," Fennec said, "There's the Life Day Star." She pointed up at one star that was shining brighter than the others. Boba gave her a questioning look, "The Life Day Star, also called the wishing star or Star of Wonder," she said, "I heard a lot of stories about it as a kid, though I didn't really believe any of them once I got older." "Why does it have so many names?" Boba asked, "Well, it's called the Life Day Star because thats the only time of year you can see it, Star of Wonder is related to some old prophecy on my home planet that I never bothered to learn, and they call it the wishing star because you can supposedly wish on it and whatever you wish for will come true." she explained. Boba shook his head and said, "Sounds like a bunch of nonsense." Fennec nodded, "I thought so too, but maybe it's not." she said. Boba looked at her like she had just gone insane, "Explain." he said. Fennec took a breath, "When I was a kid," she said slowly, "I would make the same wish on that star every Life Day, and my wish came true." "What did you wish for?" Boba asked skeptically. Fennec hesitated for a split second before answering, "What every orphan street kid wishes for," she said, "A perfect Life Day." "And when did that happen." he asked, though his expression did soften a little. Fennec didn't really appreciate being interrogated, but she answered anyway, "Today," she said quietly, "My wish came true today." "And you really think that had to do with wishing on a star?" She looked at him, "Maybe." she said. They fell into a comfortable silence, Fennec could feel the temperature dropping. Tatooine may have been a desert planet, but it got cold at night. "For what it's worth," she said, "I'm glad fate brought us together." They both smiled and Boba placed his hand in top of hers, "So am I," he said, "So am I."
A/N: This one was a bit more sentimental than what I would normally write, but I wanted to do a nice little moment with two of my favorite characters. Might have been a tad mushy at the end, though. I took creative liberty on Fennec's backstory seeing as we basically know nothing about her. The whole thing with the star is inspired by, you know, the Christmas star. This could be viewed as sort of a bonus scene/continuation of the last little three chapter arc I did with them. In our count down we have three days until Christmas Eve, four days until Christmas Day, and eight days until The Book of Boba Fett. Anyway thanks for reading, feel free to leave a review, and I hope you enjoyed.
