A cold night ran its course as it always did. Jenny sat there morosely on a grassy hill and gazed upon the moonlight. The bright shimmer of the grass dazzled her vision slightly, yet her mind wandered in the cold wind. Heavy burden laid upon her spirit with its claws unraveled, leaving deep wounds that would soon become scars. Her immortal being paid the price once again. She never felt so lonely and hopeless. But she wasn't alone: the moon watched her. It observed and listened, with no words ever needed to be made.
She sat there, morosely. With her head resting on the palm of her hand, and her gaze dwelling in the skies. The infinite search for what cannot be brought back now lingers her throughout the night. The exploration of bottomless depths of her mind to find something that could make her soul find its rest. And memories... The bits of her being that cause her to be who she is; the knives that now cut her inside out. And endless repeating of moments from her life she was once happy to keep, now burns her heart in red flames...
Days have passed since the happening, but not for her. Time stood still in her eyes as if it froze together with the one she's missing. Every night she visited this place as a memorial. Every hour she reiterated the past in her head. Every minute she sighed, numbing the pain for another moment. And the moon watched. It watched it all. It is her only friend who will stand the test of time together with her. She would glance at the moon as if asking for help. But nothing could be done. Jenny took another breath in, and then out. Her gaze slowly drawled down towards the ground. Grass, fully covered in soft white light, was slowly moving around to the wind's command. The cold stillness in her soul dissipated her, like a wind putting off the fire. Or a piece of paper, slowly melting in the water... Jenny closed her eyes. For a second, she saw nothing, but then... Memories started crawling towards her once again. Reminding her what once was, who she once were, and who once shared it all with her...
Another needle stung her heart. Her eyes teared up slightly, but she tried to hold them back. Even after so much time and struggle she was still trying to fight back, like she always did while protecting the planet, protecting everyone she truly cared about... But she can't save anyone from time. Time kills, then heals... And then kills again. She was now fully aware of it, but it still caused pain. An unimaginable pain. As if being trapped in the very pits of hell with no way to ever escape. But it's real. And more will happen, eventually. But not with her. She will be the one who will absorb all the pain and loss. Until the end of time.
Tears were now freely flowing down her cheeks, followed by silent sobs as she delved further into her thoughts. This is the ultimate price of her being. Something that she would never choose if she knew what's behind it. But she had no choice. And never will.
Jenny sat there morosely, still awaiting her turn...
