This is my Sailor Moon Defenders Christmas special. There's more to this story than just a simple Christmas story you know. This is a remake of a story that I had written a year ago. This would also be the intended start of Prince Krotan's redemption arc and it is set before Volume Four of my series.

A Defenders Christmas Carol
Chapter One
"How are things going at home?" Usagi asked her mother on the phone, "Mamo's doing great. Oh yes. I liked it. We all did. Thank you Mama. Chibiusa liked her gift too."
Ami sighed as Usagi was talking to her mother on the phone. Pretty soon, she would have to talk to her mother and the thought of that was making her nervous. The other Sailor Guardians assured her that things would be okay and even Rick assured her that everything would be okay. There was no quarrel between Usagi and Chibiusa because the latter was staying at a classmate's house for a Christmas party, watching the movie Elf and having a Christmas gift exchange along with Kshin and Hotaru.
Before Usagi made her call, Makoto called Motoki and wished him and his girlfriend Reika the best for Christmas and even Rei had no problem calling her grandfather and Yuuichirou at the shrine for Christmas. Her friends had no problem with their calls, so why was she having conflict with calling her own mother for Christmas?
"Okay mama." Usagi finished her phone call. "Merry Christmas."
"Are you ready?" Ami heard Rick ask her from behind. She turned around as she saw him standing close by.
Ami sighed a reluctant sigh, "I guess so."
"Remember what we told you." Rick gave his friend an assuring touch on the shoulder.
Ami nodded before turning around and proceeding to make her phone call to her mother. After dialing the numbers, she heard a few rings before finally getting an answer.
"Hello?" a familiar voice answered on the other end of the line.
"Hello Mom." Ami spoke up nervously.
"Ami?"
"Hey. How have you been?" Ami wasn't sure what to say at first since it had been over a year since she had last spoken to her mother and they weren't exactly on good terms the last time that they did speak.
"I've been doing well. What about you?"
"I'm doing good. Thanks."
"How are things going in America?"
"Good."
"That is good to hear."
There seemed to be an endless pause between the two.
"I am glad that you are all right, mom." Ami spoke up, breaking the silence. "The past year has been something else."
"Indeed it has. How did you manage to hold up?"
"I held up quite well. Barely though."
"I was thinking about you even when I was obeying the laws of the Queen Hadea. Hoping that you would be okay."
"Mom."
"Anyway, I'm glad that you are okay."
"Me too."
"Well, I got to get back to work. I love you."
"I love you too. Merry Christmas."
She hung up before facing Usagi and Rick.
"Well?" Usagi quipped.
"How did it go?" Rick asked.
"It went better than I thought it was going to be." Ami answered with a small smile, "She seems to be doing fine and she even said she thought of me even when she was serving Hadea."
"I'm glad it worked out between you two." Rick replied.
"Me too." Usagi added, "We told you that everything would be okay."
"Where's Jedda?" Ami asked Rick.
"Oh," Rick answered, "She's at the Bandar Village with her father. They'll be back soon."
"I forget that Jedda isn't from here." Ami replied.
"Neither am I." Rick stated, "I spent most of my childhood on Mongo and so has April."
"Sorry. I forgot that too."
"It's okay."
There was a brief pause before someone finally spoke up.
"I just love Christmas!" Usagi exclaimed cheerfully, "Everyone is so happy, cheerful and generous."
"Kshin tried asking Mandrake if he's going to be generous with gifts," LJ stated, "but he said the Christmas list was closely guarded."
"That's Kshin for you." Rick chuckled.

"So where are the others?" Setsuna asked Mandrake.
"The Phantom and Jedda should be back from the Bandar village soon." Mandrake answered.
"As for Flash, he is attending a Christmas summit on Mongo." Lothar added, "Something Prince Barin invited him to."
"Mongo?" Makoto quipped, "Where that no good Krotan is?"
"Mako stop it." Minako elbowed her friend, "It's Christmas."
"I know it's Christmas but I still won't forget what he did to us when he captured you, Rei, Ami, Rick, Jedda, LJ and Hotaru.," Makoto crossed her arms.
"Not to mention, he planned to kill both Rick and Hotaru if he had conquered Earth." April added, "Luckily, his plan was foiled thanks to Mandrake."
"There's other people who live on Mongo besides Prince Krotan." Lothar told the group.
"Yeah," Makoto sighed, "but he is the crowned prince and ruler."
"Why did he plan to kill those two specifically?" Minako asked. "Why not all of us?"
"First off, he planned to wed Jedda." April explained, "Second off, he knows Rick and Jedda are together and he hates him for it. As for Hotaru, I'm not sure. Something to do with her Sailor Guardian status."
"Krotan must be aware of Sailor Saturn and her destructive powers." Setsuna stated.
"I don't think I will ever trust him ever after what he did." Makoto retorted.
"Let's not think about that now, Mako." Minako replied. "Let's think about the Christmas holiday!"
"Anything to keep my mind off of Krotan will work well with me." Makoto smirked.
