Prompt: Anubis and nico get married their super stressed out and so many things go wrong but they still manage to get it together and be happy. Kinda like marshall's and lily's wedding in how I met your mother or jim and pam's from the office.
Nico was looking at himself in the mirror. A fitted black suit with a white shirt and a broad, black tie. His hair was still messy, but was pulled back somewhat in a ponytail, his bangs still hung around his face, being too short to be held back by the hairband.
He turned to his best man, Jason, "Are you sure my hair is okay?"
The blonde shrugged, "You never want to change your hairstyle, so."
Nico scowled at him.
Jason chuckled, "It's fine, Nico. Stop worrying about it."
"I'm not worried, Jason. Everything is fine."
Nico turned and went down to the kitchen where Hazel was overlooking the food along with Persephone and her mother Demeter.
"How's the food?" the groom asked.
Hazel looked back at him from her place near the stove, "You look great, brother. The food is okay, I think."
Demeter looked at her like she was crazy, "The food is not okay, girl. Can't you see that it's burnt?"
Nico frowned, "What? It's burnt?" He stepped forward and smelled the food. It smelled burnt. He flung his hands up, "What are we supposed to do then? We needed to have this prepped for after the ceremony, to put together into the entrees."
Persephone looked back at him, "We'll have to do without it."
Nico groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Okay. This is fine. We'll just miss something on the entrees. It'll be completely fine."
Hazel smiled exasperated at him, "I'm sorry that things go wrong on such an important day, Nico."
The Italian smiled tiredly back at her and kissed her head, "It'll be fine, Hazel."
"I hope so, Nico."
Nico backed off and went out of the kitchen, running into Percy.
The professional swimmer looked surprised, "Whoa, Nico. What're you doing down here? I thought you were supposed to be holed up with Jason and leave the rest to us."
Nico snorted, "And leave everything to you guys? I don't think so."
Percy sighed, "We can't have that." He grabbed the younger's arm and pulled him upstairs back to Jason. "Dude, you were supposed to watch him and make sure he wasn't wandering around trying to manage everything."
The blonde shrugged.
Percy sighed, "Bro, you gotta watch him from now on, okay. He'll just freak himself out over things going wrong."
Nico scowled at him, "I'm still here, y'know."
The swimmer winked at him, "I know."
Nico rolled his eyes.
Percy left them and closed the door behind him.
Nico frowned after him.
"Dude, don't worry, it'll be fine," he heard Jason say. The groom turned around to look at him, an eyebrow raised.
"Let's play some mythomagic while we wait, okay," the other offered.
Nico pinched his nose, worry slowly giving him a headache, "Fine."
His friend grinned as they sat down and started a round.
Nico had a good hand and was ready to place his first card when Annabeth opened the door.
Something was wrong, he just knew it.
"What's wrong, Annabeth?" Nico asked, wasting no time.
She looked apologetic, "The music player had to pull out."
"What?!" Nico felt like punching the floor, why did the one day he had to get perfect get ruined.
"Something came up and he couldn't make it."
Nico sighed and massaged his temples; the headache was real now.
"Okay, get Will to play something, or someone else that might know how to play an instrument," he said, looking defeatedly at Annabeth.
She smiled sadly at him and nodded before leaving.
Nico looked at Jason, who had furrowed brows as he was watching him.
"What?"
Jason shrugged, "It's just uncool that the most important day in your life is being ruined by stupid people."
A warm feeling filled Nico's chest at his friend's obvious worry for him, "It's okay, we'll pull through some way or other."
"I'm glad you're so optimistic."
"I try."
They turned back to the game and got through some hands before Hades came into the room.
Nico looked at him, a frown already forming on his face. Man, he needed a vacation. "What is it?"
Hades raised an eyebrow at his tone, "A guy called Hyperion is here and is asking for you."
"What? Who invited him?"
Hades shrugged, "No-one invited him, he just showed up and started a drunken ruckus, demanding to see you. He said something about some injustice you had done him some years ago."
This day just got better and better.
"Just show him away, and if he doesn't cooperate, call the cops on him."
He worried his lower lip when he felt his dad's hand touching his shoulder. Nico looked up at him and saw the warmth in his eyes.
"I'm sorry things aren't working out the way you wanted them to, son."
Nico placed his hand over Hades', "It's okay, dad. We'll manage somehow."
Hades smiled and nodded to Jason before leaving.
Nico huffed and turned back to the game.
They actually managed finishing the game before another person entered.
"What is it now?!" Nico asked as he turned around and saw that it was Leo.
The man raised his hands, "Whoa, hey man. I'm just here to tell you that we're ready for the ceremony."
Nico felt the irritation leave his body, replaced by butterflies flapping around in his stomach, "Sorry, I'm just a bit on edge."
He heard Jason chuckle as he stood up, "Let's go then."
Nico swallowed as he stood up and joined his friends in descending the stairs.
The other two went ahead to sit down.
Nico inhaled slowly before walking over to his dad, taking his arm as they made their way to the door. He heard the music start playing and felt the butterflies flap up a storm.
"You ready?" Hades asked him.
Nico exhaled and nodded, gripping his dad's arm just a bit harder as they walked through the door and into the isle.
Will was the one playing the music as everyone else stood up and watched on as Nico and Hades walked down towards his significant other.
Anubis was staring at him with his hands hanging somewhat stiffly down his sides. His suit was the opposite of Nico's, a white suit with a black shirt and white tie. Was that tears in his eyes?
Nico smiled at him as they reached their destination and Hades let go of his arm.
"I'm so proud of you, Nico," he heard his dad say and he felt the sting of tears as he smiled broadly at him, accepting Anubis' hand.
He looked at his fiancé who was smiling warmly at him. Nico smiled back and pressed the other's hand, "I love you."
"I love you too, Nico," Anubis replied, pressing his hand back.
The ceremony went well, surprisingly. They said their vows and exchanged rings, ending it with a well-placed kiss.
As they all made their way to the reception, he could smell the food that had apparently been cooked successfully. The newly-weds sat down in their seats and watched on as the food was placed before the guests and it actually tasted good.
They went through tons of toasts and when the cake finally arrived, Nico was happy for the distraction. He watched on as Leo was pushing the trolley with the huge cake and felt his mood deteriorate as the wheel caught on something, and the entire cake toppled to the ground, frosting smeared across the floor.
He sighed, because of course something would go wrong at the last minute. He was about to shout angrily when Anubis burst out laughing beside him.
Nico looked at him, surprised at how load his laugh was. It was rare for him to laugh this hard. The other guests joined in as well as Leo, albeit a bit sheepish. Nico felt the anger wash off him and felt himself start laughing along.
Anubis grabbed his hand and a plate, moving over to the messy cake. He found a part that wasn't touching the floor and scooped it onto the plate. He offered some to Nico and they both ate the ruined cake.
It was delicious
