Chapter 7
Viridian Forest, Samurai and Pewter
Ash is now in Viridian Forest to go to Pewter City and earn the Boulder Badge, since he found out that the Viridian Gym now has a 4 Gym Badge requirement in place for this year's Indigo League. It bummed him out, but then he remembered that he doesn't really have a team equipped to take on a Ground Type Gym at the moment.
And now he, along with the rest of his Pokémon, except Mewtwo. We're trying to find a Grass Type or Water Type, as the team was very vulnerable to Rock Types at the moment , which was the Type theme of the Pewter City Gym.
Sure Ash could teach hisPokémon Steel Wing or Iron Tail if he wanted, but he wanted the type coverage and a backup plan just in case.
After a few minutes of searching, with everyone not being able to find a single Grass or Water Type. Ash then decided that to try a different area in the forest. There he saw a Caterpie battling a Weedle, none of which said a word to each other, except for a few groans of pain.
Ash just watched. He didn't want to interfere In the Bug Types affaires, so he was just a spectator at the moment.
{Caterpie and Weedle's battle field.}
The Bug types had just used Tackle against each other, the result being both of them getting knocked back due to the impact.
Caterpie dodged a Poison Sting from Weedle and Weedle in turn dodged a String Shot from Caterpie. After the dodge Weedle charged at Caterpie while preparing Bug Bite. Caterpie tried to dodge but was to slow and got hit by the Bug Bite, which fainted the Worm Pokémon.
Weedle then did something Ash wasn't expecting. Weedle helped Caterpie by giving it an Oran Berry and a Pecha Berry.
The two Bug Pokémon then noticed Ash was standing there with a confused look on his face. Weedle took up a defensive position ready to defend Caterpie.
"Wait, you got it all wrong. I won't hurt you guys." Ash tried to calm down Weedle. It worked and Weedle calmed down but it was still weary of Ash, so he kept a watchful eyes on the human.
"So Weedle, What were you and Caterpie doing, were you Training?" Ash asked.
Weedle and Caterpie nodded at Ash's question.
"We were trying to see who was stronger between the both of us." Caterpie said.
"So you were testing to see who was the strongest between the both of you?" Ash repeated.
Both Caterpie and Weedle nodded, but then both Bug Types did a double take. A human just understood them.
With Caterpie and Weedle standing there motionless from the revelation that a human was able to understand them. Ash tried to snap them out of it.
After a few minutes Ash was finally able to get the two Bug Types out of their stupor, to which both Caterpie and Weedle asked how can Ash understand them. Ash considered lying to them but decided against it, he didn't want to lie them and also both of them seemed like good mons.
And so he showed them the secret.
Caterpie and Weedle, once Ash transformed into a Mew. Looked at Ash, speechless. They were in the presence of a Legendary Pokémon, a Legendary Pokémon.
As the two were inwardly panicking, Ash explained his situation. Both Bug Type broke out of their stupor and after the explanation, asked Ash if they could join him on his Journey. They said it was so that they could get even stronger and possibly achieve their final forms. Ash smiled and pulled out 2 Poké Balls from his bag and presented them to the Bug Types, who in turn let themselves get captured.
Ash, after transforming back into a human. Picked up the Poké Balls of his two most recent captures and went back to the others and show them the new members to the group.
When Ash found his Pokémon again. He was surprised to see that some brought back a Pokémon that was interested in the human that was responsible for training the mon that beat them. There was a Scyther beside Pidgey and Spearow, a Male and Female Nidoran behind Elaine and Pikachu, and surprisingly a Shaymin behind a newly evolved Charmeleon.
How did he manage that?
While Ash just stared at Charmeleon, Shaymin came up to him beckoning Ash to pick it up. This caused Ash snap out of his trance and instead focus on Shaymin.
"Hey there Shaymin. Did you want something?" Ash asked, picking up the Gratitude Pokémon.
"Is your name Ash Ketchum?" Shaymin asked.
"Yes my name is Ash Ketchum, why do you ask?" Ash replied and asked his own question.
"Nothing, I just needed some confirmation." Shaymin said. "So catch me already."
"What! You're letting me you, why?"
"Because I was defeated fair and square against your Charmeleon. It was kind off embarrassing." Shaymin admitted.
"Are you sure about this, you are a Legendary, you could just refuse and I won't complain." Ash questioned, just in case Shaymin had second thoughts.
"Yes I'm sure about this." Shaymin replied.
Ash brought out a Luxury Ball he got from his mom the night before starting his journey and tapped Shaymin with it and with a ding Shaymin was captured.
The ball de-materialized in his hand and was sent off to Professor Oak's Lab, Ash winced forgetting that he had a full team already and hoped that the Professor did not have a panic attack over the Pokémon he just captured. After that he went on to ask the others if they wanted to join the team, all agreed and were captured and sent to Oak's Lab.
{Meanwhile In Oak's Lab}
"Oh Ash caught another Pokémon. That makes nine so it should be here soon." The Professor said just before Ash's latest capture arrived.
"Now let's see, Oh he captured it with a Luxury Ball, interesting I thought he wouldn't use it." Oak observed, before grabbing the Poké Ball and opened it and out popped a Pokémon he would never expect.
It was a Shaymin.
The Professor was at a loss for words, mouth practically on the floor. The Shaymin was a little startled but calmed down quickly before observing the Professor in front of it.
He quickly recovered from his shock and took a deep breath to calm himself and ask the Shaymin a quick question.
"Before anything else are you a Boy or a Girl?" The Professor asked the Gratitude Pokémon as calmly as he could manage and Shaymin shook their head at the first one and nodded at the second.
"So you're a Girl, noted." The Professor said, taking out his notepad and jotted down the information.
{Back to Ash}
Ash, after capturing Scyther and the Nidoran's. Was now quickening his pace through Viridian Forest, as he now had to explain his most recent captures to the Professor. As he was walking though a cloaked figure was coming his direction with a Katana holstered on his waste.
"Are you the trainer Ash Ketchum from Pallet?" the cloaked figure asked in a fake deep voice.
"Yes i'm Ash, Why do you ask?" Ash answered the cloaked boy.
"I battled a trainer named Gary, He said that there was a trainer by the name of Ash Ketchum that hails from where he is from and that I should battle him." The cloacked boy grabbed his cloak and revealed himself. "Call me Samurai, and I challenge you Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town."
Ash and Samurai arrived at a clearing and both trainers pulled out a Poké Ball from their belt and threw it. Samurai brought out a Scyther, while Ash brought out Spearow.
And so the Battle Begins.
"I will let you have the first move." Samurai said from across the battlefield.
Ash nodded and ordered Spearow to use Aerial Ace. Samurai tried to order Scyther to dodge but it couldn't and was hit by the attack. After the attack it Scyther was barely standing and Samurai seeing this withdrew him.
"Scyther can no longer battle, You are the winner Ash Ketchum." Samurai said to Ash, who has walked over to check on Scyther just before he was withdrew.
Both trainers shook hands and Samurai put his cloak back on and walked off into the woods. Ash meanwhile was back to walking, he was almost at Pewter already, only just a few more kilometres to go.
{1 Hour Later}
Ash was now near the edge of Viridian Forest, as the trees started to decrease in number as he walked on and the distinct sound of cars honking could be faintly heard.
Pikachu went off on his own to find some wild Berries they could use for their food, as Ash did not have a lot of money to spend. It was mostly starting funds from the Professor and a little bit from Delia, which equated to about 5,000 Poké.
So now Ash was alone for the rest of the walk to Pewter, as every one of his Pokémon were tired.
After another couple of minutes of walking Ash arrived at the edge of Pewter City, which was definitely bigger than Viridian but had a more rustic feel to it than Viridian did. Ash looked around a little and saw a couple of rocks with price tags tape on them.
Suddenly a man came to Ash and asked if he wanted to buy the rock. Ash was first frightened by the man, as he was practically snuck up on and was asked a question out of nowhere. But he calmed down quick and asked what was so special about the rock he was selling. The man said that one of the rocks had a fossil in it. Ash did not believe this and asked the man if he could prove that there was a fossil in it, to which the man pulled out a scanner from his back pocket and handed it to Ash, who used it to check the rock. And to the surprise there was a fossil in the rock, the shape was that of an Old Amber.
Ash then turned to the other rocks and found a spherical object in it. Ash then asked if he could buy them and the man, who introduced himself as Flint. Carefully excavated the spherical object, which turned out to be a Mega Stone. And the Old Amber.
Ash thanked Flint and put the items into his bag, continuing his way to Pewter's Poké Center.
{At the Pokémon Center}
Ash arrived along with Pikachu who brought a sack of Berries along with him. Ash deposited the Berries into his bag and went to front desk. He was greeted by Nurse Joy, who waved at the boy with the same cheerful energy as the Nurse Joy from Viridian.
Ash greeted back and asked if he could have his Pokémon checked. The nurse then asked her Blissey to take the Poké Balls into the back and have them checked.
Ash then asked if there were any rooms available. Nurse Joy checked her computer for any spare rooms the trainer could use. She finally found one and gave the room key to Ash, who took it and went to the Video Phones.
Ash then called his mom and told her about his experiences in Viridian Forest. She was proud that Ash was making good progress and having fun too. She then recommended that Ash should talk to the Professor immediately as she ended the call.
Ash then hesitantly dialed the Professor's number, getting a few rings before the Professor finally picked up. Oak did his usual greeting, Ash did the same before he was suddenly bombarded with questions.
"How did you capture a Shaymin? Did you battle it? Did she just come to you unprovoked?" The Professor said wanting answers as quickly as possible.
"Slow down Professor, Slow down. First off I didn't battle her it was Charmeleon, who actually won the fight. And she just let me catch her after that." Ash answered.
"Wait how did Charmeleon manage to do that? And before I forget congratulations on his evolution."
"I'm not to sure myself, he doesn't want to boast the victory and Shaymin, she was teleported before I could ask."
"A shame." The Professor sighed. "And you're not here to translate so I don't even know what she's saying."
"Professor, how are the others doing?" Ash asked.
"You mean Spearow, Scyther, and the two Nidorans? They're doing great here, all are nice and healthy. Spearow has become the peace keeper of the Ranch, Scyther's trying to fight Dragonite, and the Nidoran are socialising with all the other Pokémon."
"Sorry to cut you short Professor but could you send over Shaymin, i need to train her a bit, she's kinda my only grass type."
"Who are you going to send back then?"
"I'll send Pidgey, she kind off misses Spearow a little." Ash said putting Pidgey's Poké Ball in the transfer socket on the Video Phone, while the Professor went to go fetch Shaymin.
After a minute of waiting Ash saw the Professor walking up to the camera again, this time holding a Luxury Ball.
"Is everything set on your end Ash?" The Professor asked.
"Yeah Professor everything's ready over here." And with a button press Pidgey's Poké Ball was replaced with a Luxury Ball.
"Bye Professor I'll call soon okay." Ash waved goodbye before ending the call. He hastily ran to his room, and once there he released Shaymin.
"Oh hi Ash nice to see you. So what are we working on first." Shaymin said once she was fully out of her Poké Ball.
"How did you know we were going to do training?" Ash asked confused.
"I just guessed." Shaymin said, doing the four legged equivalent of a shrug.
"Well first we have to wait for the others. After that we train." Ash said, while Shaymin nodded.
After about 5 minutes Ash got his Pokémon back from Nurse Joy. Immediately bringing them to the outside battlefield for training.
Ash had Caterpie and Weedle sent back to the Professor instead bringing in the two Nidoran, who Ash had work on Double Kick. Elaine was working on perfecting her moves. Pikachu and Shaymin were sparring with one another, while trying to increase their move's output and decrease charge time. And Ash was training Mewtwo on how to use Psychic and Thunderbolt, since he had a pretty limited move set at the moment.
{3 Hours Later}
After 3 hours everyone was exhausted, but the results were worth it. Elaine learned Iron Tail through doing Tail Whip one too many times. Pikachu was now faster and could fire a Thunderbolt almost instantly, with the same happening to Shaymin except it was with Seed Flare and Bullet Seed. The 2 Nidoran now knew Double Kick and an added bonus of Horn Attack for the Male Nidoran and Bite for the Female Nidoran. And Mewtwo now has Psychic and Thunderbolt added to his arsenal.
After going back into the Poké Center Ash saw Misty in the lobby, but as he was exhausted, he instead went to the Cafeteria to get some food for him and his Pokémon.
After that he went to his bedroom, with Pikachu and Elaine sleeping beside him. And drifted off to sleep, this time Mew let him sleep without her bothering him.

Mewtwo: Fair I guess, but do I play a descent role in any of the movies by any chance?
v0rt3x: I guess, I only planned as far as the Orange League for now but maybe?
Mewtwo: See you in Chapter 8
