Book 3 – Chapter 2: Prologue before the Storm

The end of the school year had come and in a blink of an eye the students found themselves on their way back home after a rather anti-climactic last couple of days. Once they had arrived at Kings Cross Station Harry and Andrew said their goodbyes to their friends, of course they weren't spared meeting the parents. First were Ron's; Mrs Weasley greeted the boys and Hermione happily once again thanking them for saving Ginny from the Chamber of Secrets. The lady of the hour smiled shyly at the two boys and gave a small wave to which they nodded in return. Once all the goodbyes were said the Weasley's left the Station.

Second family were the Grangers; this one was admittedly the most awkward meeting of the afternoon especially seeing as how Michael had forgotten meeting the two boys and mistaking them for their fathers. That was quickly overlooked though when Hermione's mother stepped forward and offered the boys a hug and a few words of advice. "We may not get all the answers we seek in life until we're ready. I'm sure you'll learn everything when the time comes. For now, just live, find something that takes your mind off of it and in time, all will be made clear."

The boys thanked her and together the Grangers left the platform, they looked for Tonks to say goodbye to her but it would seem as if she had already left. The brothers turned to head towards the barrier, they were under no illusion that the Dursley's patience was waning and that they were probably quite annoyed at having to wait already. They started moving, that is until Andrew caught sight of someone he hadn't seen for a couple of days.

"I'll be right back." he said quickly before moving to the person.

Harry sighed but waited for his brother none the less.

"Hey! Su!" Andrew called out.

The Asian girl turned and saw Andrew Potter headed her way and her eyes instantly went very wide.

"Potter?!" she said in shock.

"What? D'you think I'd let you leave before saying goodbye?" he asked with his grin firmly in place.

Someone cleared their throat and the two pre-teens turned to the person.

"Su, are you going to introduce me to your friend?" the woman asked with a raised brow.

"Oh, right, err... Potter this is my mother. Mom, this is Andrew Potter." Su said motioning to each of them respectfully.

"Ah, so you're the infamous Potter my daughter complains about in her letters, hmm?" the mature Asian woman said with a teasing eyebrow raised.

"That would be me!" Andrew claimed with a smile. "It is a pleasure to meet you ma'am." Andrew said with a small nod.

"Oh, please anyone who manages to get my daughter in a tiff is alright with me." Su's mom said with a small chuckle.

"Well I must get going, my relatives are waiting for me. It was a pleasure to meet you Mrs Li." Andrew said with a kind smile.

"Please, the pleasure is all mine." She replied with a smile.

"Alright, Su! I'll see you next semester!"

"Leave me alone, Potter. And stop using my first name without permission!" the girl called after him, but it was too late as Andrew and Harry had disappeared behind the barrier. Su turned back and saw the grin her mother had now adopted. "What?" she asked in an irritated tone.

"Oh, nothing dear." Her mom said airily as she turned and headed towards the Aparation platform, followed closely by her daughter.

After receiving an earful for wasting their time the two brothers finally arrived at their destination and immediately went upstairs to put their items away. That is when Vernon, spoke up.

"Now you two listen here! You will place your freakish things in the cupboard and their will be no funny business this summer. Is that clear?" he demanded while glaring at the two boys.

"No deal." Andrew said blank faced.

Vernon's signature purple hue slowly started appearing before Andrew could even finish.

"Think about it Vernon. We don't finish our summer work, who do you think the Headmaster and the teachers are going to go to figure out why?" Andrew said his brow raised as he waited for Dursley Senior to figure it out. "I'm just saying, let us have it in our room rather than in a relatively open area where... Anything could go wrong."

He didn't say anything and instead sneered at the two boys before turning and headed to the lounge where he would sit and watch TV for the rest of the day. The two boys were given the same rules that were established last summer and they happily accepted them, if it meant not having to deal with the toxicity of the Dursely's.

Once a rhythm was established the boys found themselves rather enjoying their holidays. They both exchanged letters with Hermione (who was spending the Holiday's in France) and Ron (who was apparently also quite busy). Harry found himself exchanging more letters with Tonks then the previous year and Andrew was sending off letters to a few people, one was Su, but the other he kept a secret even from his brother. "Too weird to explain." he would say when Harry asked.

They even wrote up a schedule which actually turned out to be a hell of a lot more useful and helpful than Harry had originally thought.

Monday – Sunday: Breakfast, cleaning and Gardening duties.

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday: Supper.

Since they shared the responsibility they found themselves finishing all the tasks by lunch time at the latest, which left them with the rest of the afternoon and evening to do what ever they wanted.

The rest of their days were split up; between finishing their assignments, going to the park and the skate park (where they were still abused by their "trainers") and learning the art of Occlumency and Guitar for Andrew. The two were taking the advice given by Mrs Granger to heart and doing what they loved.

Occlumency training was going a lot better then they had expected. The book had stated that having a fools errand would be a great way to direct someone from important information that someone would want to keep hidden.

Harry had really thought his through; his first line of defense was the school – Hogwarts, if someone had somehow managed to trek their way through the massive structure they would find themselves in front of the Quidditch pitch, with a broom and a hyperactive snitch awaiting them. Once they completed that they would then find themselves in front of two doors - one lead to the Potions classroom which would rotate back to the beginning; while the other was the door to Binn's classroom. In the classroom, one would find The Mirror of Erised Harry had found in their first year, looking into the mirror and wishing to see James and Lily Potter would then provide you with a key to which you would then use to unlock the mirror. Harry kept his most precious memories in the Mirror as it showed him the smiling faces of his parents, the thought of them happy helped the young boy focus on his thoughts.

Andrew's defenses were a little more unorthodox; his first line of defense was actually the Dursley house. Upon entering, you would be met by a purple faced Vernon who would hold a weapon in his hand ready to strike. If fought against, you would be ejected from the mind. But should you let him strike you, you would then find yourself in the trophy room, surrounded by giant Trophies all with doors, the task would be to enter the correct one, which just so happened to be: the pudding eating champion; Hert Gerber. Once you enter the trophy you will then come across three creatures; a Cerberus, a Troll and a blind Basilisk. Two of the creatures will cause you to eject the mind while one will let you through. The Troll would be the correct choice and behind the Troll would be the room discovered in his second year. It was quiet calm and relaxing, the perfect place to store his thoughts and memories.

Both boys were confident in their shields and were now left with the final task, constructing a block of some kind to prevent or alert them when someone tried entering their mind, so that they would be prepared to throw up their defenses. It was the hardest part as it required the boys to simultaneously be alert and ready to defend all at once, not an easy task in the slightest.

They had also discovered an interesting feature of their... mind reading abilities. Not only could they share thoughts but they could also access flashes of images and emotions from one another. Also the ability to literally shut ones mind down from the other, like a telephone conversation being cut off. It was interesting to them, but then again; this was something they had since as long as they could remember, so it didn't seem like that big a deal.

The rest of the Summer went on quite well. They had improved on the skate board; no longer falling off when pushed in a certain direction. They had moved on to the smaller ramps; learning how to shift their weight in order to get the board to move the way they wanted it to. It was a little challenging but since they considered skating riding a broom on wheels they found that using the same or very similar techniques to be very beneficial.

Of course, Dudley and his gang were trouble, but nothing the two boys couldn't handle. Tonks was kind enough to send the boys a book with a large list of spells she had learned over the course of her six years at Hogwarts. The boys vowed to one up Flitwick next semester.

The rest of the Summer past without incident until Hedwig and Arcanum flew into their open window one night as the two boys had been getting ready for bed. Giving their respective owls their attention they noticed they letters attached to their legs. Untying it the two boys read in silence:

Dear Mister Potter

Note that as a third year, you will be given a special privilege to attend a trip to the Hogsmead; the wizarding town found just outside of Hogwarts.

This is a privilege and not a right, should you wish to attend, you will be held in high standards as you will be attending the town as a Hogwarts student.

Have your Parent/Guardian sign below and you will be provided entry on the carriages that lead to the town.

You may not attend if you have not obtained a signature.

Thank you.

M. McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress

Transfiguration Professor

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

The two boys shared a look, they had to get those signatures, the only question was; Would Vernon sign them?

The next morning the boys woke up and headed downstairs to start on Breakfast. When they had finished the pancakes and got started on the bacon, Petunia and Vernon entered the kitchen. There was a suffocating silence for a while, as there always was in the morning as Andrew and Harry actively ignored the rest of the residence in the house. Today was different though... Vernon seemed, less grumpy than usual.

"Oi you two, look alive! Marge is coming over today!" he told them in a loud voice.

"Aunt Marge is coming?!" Harry asked in a horrified tone,

"She bringing that bloody mutt with her again?" Andrew asked as he rolled his eyes.

"Watch your mouths, you bastards. Now she'll be here later this evening and I want the two of you to behave." he said in a dangerously low tone.

"Hey, we will if she does. She's the one who usually starts the trouble." Andrew said raising his hands in surrender as Vernon once again shot him a dark look.

The large man, wiped his mouth and got up from his seat and made his way around the table, giving his wife an affectionate peck on the cheek the man moved to the front door, where he found the house and car keys as well as his briefcase on the table beside the door.

After Vernon had left the house the two boys gave each other a look before looking over at Petunia would started collecting the dishes.

"Hey, Petunia, let's make a deal." Andrew said standing up to address the woman.

She simply gave him a tired look to continue.

"Okay so we know how much you hate our school, but we have a trip coming up and we need a Guardian's signature." Andrew said.

Simply blinking a couple of times the woman who was Lily Potter's sister turned away from the two boys and continued cleaning the dishes.

"I guess that's a no though...?" Andrew said as he watched the woman bustle about. "Well then, I guess it's time for plan B..."

"Seriously? We're going to forge their signatures?!" Harry asked mortified.

"Oh I'm sorry, would you like to go downstairs and try to convince Petuina again? Or better yet; wait until Vernon gets back and try your luck there?" Andrew asked his brother with a blank face.

"...True..." Harry conceded with a nod and shrug.

"Well, we are now officially criminals."

"Living the dream, who said crime doesn't pay?" Harry retorted dryly. "By the way, when did you see Vernon's signature?"

"Remember when he somehow managed to convince the school that we were guilty of cheating, just 'cause we scored better that Dud?"

"Yeah?"

"He sighed a contract saying that we cheated and would be punished for it..." Andrew said.

"Oh yeah! We must've been around 6 – 7 there. That was ages ago!" Harry said remembering their punishment for "cheating" and doing better than Dudley.

Andrew pointed to his head and grinned. "Perfect recall."

The rest of the day ticked away slowly as the two boys awaited the satanic beast which is Marge Dursley and her little shit stain; Ripper the... whatever the hell breed of dog that is... the brothers hated the little shit.

Finally 5 PM rolled around and the witch from the West End finally rolled around. Loud and Boisterous as always Marge Dursley barged into the house and immediately started demanding things. Oh you gotta love family...

The two boys were told to make dinner by the overbearing woman and Vernon too happy to have his sister come over, completely "forgot" their deal and agreed that the boys should make dinner. What followed was an avalanche of complete and utter destruction.

Once everyone had completed supper and desert had been passed out Marge made a conscious decision to open her God damned mouth.

"So tell me Vernon, what are you doing with these two brutes?" she asked haughtily.

"Oh, well, They're both enrolled in St Brutus School for the Criminally Insane." Vernon answered automatically, having to give the same response to everyone who asked about the boys his mind just went into auto-drive.

"Hmm, you two! Do they beat you at that school?"

Sparing a glance at Vernon who looked at the boys nervously they gave a small sigh and responded.

"Oh, yeah... we get beaten loads!" Harry responded with a nod.

"Good, if you two were dropped off on my doorstep I would've dumped you both at an orphanage. You're lucky my brother has such a great heart." Marge said with her fat nose pointed towards the sky. "And Petunia, deary, what did you say the parents did?"

"Nothing, they were unemployed." Petunia answered quickly.

"Hmm, probably, drug addicts too. Pathetic." At that moment, the large glass of Brandy Marge had been holding shattered in her hands.

"Oh my! Haha, seems I don't know my own strength. You boy! Clean this up." she said pointing to Andrew who raised a brow at her before moving forward with a towelette and began picking up the shattered pieces.

"And this one, what of his parents?" Marge asked pointing at the dark skinned boy.

"We don't know, we just know that my sister adopted him before they died." Petunia replied.

"Hmm, that sister of yours, truly troubled I suppose?" At Petunia's nod, Marge continued. "Honestly, so much like dogs; if there's something wrong with the bitch then there's something wrong with the pup!"

"Oh my God, you stupid bint! Shut the fuck up!" Andrew yelled as he turned to face her.

Harry's face burned red with rage as well as he looked at Marge.

"Now you listen to me..." Marge was cut off when she noticed something. She seemed to be getting bigger. Much bigger, as if she were swelling at an alarming rate, but not only that, she seemed to be getting lighter, this she noticed as she started floating off the ground. It didn't take long, perhaps twenty minutes before she was now bouncing off the ceiling and careening towards the open patio doors. She started panicking, but it wouldn't help as she soon found herself gently flying over the small town of Surrey, wailing terrifyingly into the night.

Back at the Dursley residence Vernon and Petunia were confronting Andrew and Harry, demanding they let Marge down.

"Not after all that she's said!" Harry said heatedly.

"We're leaving." Andrew said directly afterward. Both boys had their trunks in their hands ready to leave.

"And go where? They won't take you back now!" Petunia said.

"Anywhere is better than this shithole." Harry responded as he pulled his truck behind him pulling open the door and storming out.

Before Andrew left he turned back to Vernon and gave him a cold look. "I'm getting sick of you and your family, Dursley. That cow floating away; that wasn't me, that was Harry, and you'd better be damn grateful he made that happen because if I were still in control at that moment... well let's just say you'd have a new coat of fresh red paint." With that Andrew turned and followed his brother out leaving behind two flabbergasted adults.

Petunia and Vernon felt a shiver run up their spine, the way Andrew looked when he said that. His eyes, colder than anything they'd ever seen, his tone; calm, collected, strong. But what frightened them most was how he said what he had just said. Not angrily or in a disgusted tone, but rather a cold, sadistic smile.

They stood frozen in the doorway for a little bit, letting what had just said properly cement in their brains as they ignored the incoherent goings on happening on the Telly Dudley had been watching.

Finally! My vision for the huge character arcs are finally starting to become a little more prominent.
