Last Time on Black and White:

"My dad?! Wait hold on!"

Andrew didn't get to say anything else as he was torn from that mindscape and suddenly forced back to consciousness.

"Mr Potter, are you alright?" asked a familiar voice.

Andrew groaned and opened his eyes coming face to face with Madam Pomfrey.

"God, what happened?"

Book 4 – Chapter 11: Crouch Coming Out!

Harry was sitting in the common room playing a game of chess with Ron while Hermione sat reading near the boys. It all seemed rather calm, if he wasn't mistaken Andrew should be on his way back from detention with Professor Flitwick.

Harry watched helplessly as Ron destroyed yet another of his pieces and smirked at Harry.

"Your move." he said smugly.

"You're a sadist, why not just end it?" Harry asked with a groan.

"Oh but where would the fun in that be?" Ron asked innocently.

"Bloody-" he didn't finish though as he felt a massive amount of panic wave through him.

"Andrew?! What's going on?!" he thought desperately, when he heard nothing he tried again.

"Andrew!"

"Fifth floor, someone attacking m-" the communication cut off and Harry felt his own panic rise.

"Andrew! We'll be right there!"

"Guys we have to get to the fifth floor right now!" he said quickly standing.

"Why?"

"What's going on?" Hermione asked worriedly.

"It's Andrew, I don't exactly know, but he needs us. Now!"

Seeing the look of seriousness on his face Ron and Hermione stood up quickly and along with Harry rushed out of the common room, leaving many of the patrons inside very confused, while the Fat Lady yelled angrily at them as they had shoved her open rather violently.

Running as fast as his legs could carry him; Harry, Ron and Hermione arrived at the moving staircase and somehow managed to take two at a time without slipping and hurting themselves.

They were close now, as they landed on the fifth floor they rounded the corner and saw him. Andrew lay prone on the ground, unmoving.

"Andrew!"

The three teens yelled as they approached the fallen boy. They shook him but he didn't respond, his face was unflinching. He looked disturbingly calm, it reminded Harry of when they had been in the Medical Wing last year and his brother lay on the bed unmoving.

"Ron, go get Flitwick!" Hermione commanded quickly as she ran a hand over Andrew's forehead. "He's really warm. It's got me worried." she said mostly to herself rather than to the boys.

Ron nodded and ran for the Charms Professor.

Harry and Hermione were left with the boy as they stared at him in silence.

"His wand..." Harry said quietly.

"What?" Hermione asked with furrowed brow.

"Where's his...?" Harry looked around and saw the wand laying against the wall of the corridor. Leaving his brother's side for a moment he knelt down and picked it up, quietly noticing that the burning had now gone down slightly, but it was still slightly warm.

After what felt like hours but couldn't be more than a few minutes, Ron came rushing back with Flitwick hot on his heels.

"What happened here?!" the tiny professor asked, looking between the students.

"We don't know, sir. We suspect that he had been attacked." Hermione answered quickly.

"Alright, stand back." Flitwick said before raising his wand. "Expecto Patronum." a silver owl appeared before the students.

"Pomfrey, there's been an attack on a student, we will be arriving shortly. Please have everything prepared." he said to the owl which immediately flew through the ceiling to where the students believed the Hospital Wing was situated.

"Come along." Flitwick said as he cast a spell on Andrew which allowed the boy to float a few feet off the ground.

They made it to the Hospital Wing after what felt like forever and Pomfrey was already waiting for them and pointed them to a bed. Once Andrew was laid down she shooed the students out despite their requests.

Once they were out Pomfrey turned to Flitwick.

"Fillius, what happened here?"

"I don't know, Poppy. What can you tell me about Mr Potter's injuries so far?"

Pomfrey ran a quick diagnostic charm and shook her head at the results.

"A bone breaking curse; one at his shoulder, the other on his leg. Whoever did this... they didn't seem to want to kill him." Pomfrey said as she surveyed the rest of Andrew's body.

"No... they simply wanted him, unable to run or cast." Flitwick said angrily.

The following morning the news of Andrew's impromptu duel spread through the school, somehow. Andrew, Ron and Hermione stood in Flitwick's office stubbornly.

"Sir, I think it was Moody." Harry said definitively.

"I am inclined to believe you, Mr Potter." Flitwick said as he rested his head on his hands.

"Well, it could be an older Ravenclaw." Ron said with a small shrug. When the others turned to look at him he suddenly felt nervous. "I mean, he did threaten them right? Maybe an older year thought they'd teach him a lesson."

"Hmm, that is also a strong possibility, Mr Weasley."

"Sir, do you believe we should inform the Headmaster?" Hermione asked with a worried look.

"I believe we might have to, Miss Granger."

"Andrew won't be happy about that."

"Well Andrew isn't here, is he?" Hermione snapped in an annoyed tone.

"Yes, well, I will bring it up with the Headmaster, Professor McGonagall and bring in Madam Pomfrey as well to conduct an investigation."

"But sir-" Harry started before being stopped by his professor's raised hand.

"I know what you are thinking, Mister Potter, but assault trumps intimidation. Should it be one of my 'Claws, well, they will be in much hotter water than your brother." he told them.

With nods, the three Gryffindor's were dismissed and Flitwick placed his head in his palms tiredly.

As the three made their way to the Great Hall to catch the tail end of breakfast they were approached by Luna Lovegood and a troubled looking Su Li.

"Good morning, friends of Drew." Luna greeted airily.

"Is it true? Was he attacked?" Su asked the three of them.

"Shouldn't you know? Ravenclaw is a suspect as well." Hermione said cooly.

"Excuse me?" Su replied looking shocked.

"He attacked your house, right? For you?" the bushy haired girl said looking accusingly at Luna.

"Okay hold the hell on. Yes, he did do that for Luna, but this wasn't a Claw. After Andrew's... talk with them, Ravenclaw has simply deemed him dysfunctional. You don't mess with someone crazy. Logically what he did was march into a room of students who could have all taken him out. They don't appreciate illogical thinking, thus deem him too dangerous to attack." Su said strongly.

Hermione continued to glare at Su who huffed and glared back at the girl.

"It wasn't a student who attacked Drew, it was a pretender." Luna said easily cutting the tension between the two girls.

Harry caught on to that and turned to the small blonde girl.

"Luna, what do you mean, 'pretender'?"

"Someone who isn't themselves, obviously." Luna answered as though it was the simplest thing in the world.

"And why would this pretender, attack Andrew?" he asked the girl curiously.

Hermione paused her glaring at Su and turned to the boy.

"Harry you aren't taking her seriously, are you? You do know that there is a reason they call her Loony? She keeps going on and on about these ridiculous creatures that Do. Not. Exist." Hermione finished angrily.

"Hermione!" Ron warned while placing a hand on the girl's shoulder.

Luna slowly turned to face Hermione and surprised everyone by wrapping her arms around the girl.

"I think I may understand how you feel. Drew is like a big brother to me, and Su is like a big sister. You care about him greatly, I can see that clearly, but you aren't thinking logically right now. You don't mean the things you're saying but need to get the emotions out somehow. So I'm not mad at you, I believe that soon, you and I may become great friends. I feel the need for family in you that is similar to mine; an only child too? Andrew will be fine. I promise you." the tiny blonde whispered sweetly in Hermione's ear.

Luna stepped back from Hermione while smiling and turned back Harry.

"To answer you question about the pretender: I don't know. But I know it's something important." Luna replied.

"Now, Su I believe we should get going. Bye Harry, Ronald and Hermione; remember what I said." Luna said happily while pulling Su away.

When they disappeared around the corner, the two boys turned to Hermione who seemed to be having an internal debate before huffing and walking into the hall.

"Girls... mental they are." Ron said with a small shake of his head before following along with Harry.

Flitwick stood in the Headmaster's office along with Professor's McGonagall, Snape and Moody, who he kept a wary eye on.

"So Filius, would you mind telling us why you requested this meeting?" Dumbledore asked with a small frown.

"Yes, this is about the attack on Andrew Potter-"

"I have better things to do than worry about the spawn of Potter who's gotten himself in trouble with those more capable than himself." Snape said with a sneer.

The Charms and Transfiguration Professors shot the man a dark look.

"Really Severus a student has been attacked, can you not shelf your petty grudge for a day?" McGonagall asked in an irritated manner.

"Yes, Severus I believe your input was not helpful thus unneeded." Dumbledore said in a gentle but firm tone. The surprised looks on McGonagall and Flitwick were not missed by the headmaster.

"Have I truly been so blasé of Severus' behavior that even a small reprimand like that would warrant such a reaction?" Dumbledore thought to himself.

"Fillius?" he asked bringing them out of their shock.

"Yes, of course, so the attack on Mister Potter is of course a serious matter as such I believe we should contact the Aurors." the tiny professor said with a nod of his head.

"Hmm, Alastor, what do you think?" Dumbledore asked the scarred man.

"Aye, Amelia is a by the book lass, probably do a bang up job if she assigns the right people. Though they might only be rookies, and able to miss the simplest of things. Let me have a look around, see if I can find anything." Moody said in his usual gruff tone.

Dumbledore nodded his head in thought before sighing.

"Alas, this attack will not, and should not be swept under the rug. I believe we should let Amelia in just to be safe." Dumbledore said after a moment.

"Alright, if you think that's the right call. Well, if you'll excuse me. I have some paper's to grade..."

"Actually, Alastor I think you should stay. You know, provide Madam Bones with some interesting things you may have noticed." Flitwick said suddenly.

"Aye? Well, I'm sure Amelia is busy, so call me when shes'-"

"Actually I spoke to her a few minutes before coming here, she's free and is actually waiting for Dumbledore to allow her into the office along with one of your pupils." Flitwick said cutting the man off again.

There was a tense air in the room as the other occupants watched the tennis match between the tiny Charms Professor and the Scarred man.

"Headmaster if you'll tell Madam Bones that we are ready for her." Flitwick said not taking his eyes off of Moody.

"Of course." Dumbledore said while staring at Moody suspiciously as well.

He went over to the Floo and contacted Bones, letting her know that they were ready for them. Once he had stepped back the chaos started.

"Avada Kedava!" the green spell hurdled toward Flitwick who quickly rolled out of the way. Instantly Moody was hit by three spells; a stunner from McGonagall, a disarming spell from Snape and a body binding curse from Dumbledore.

This was the scene Madam Amelia Bones and Nymphadora Tonks stumbled into when they entered (tripping into in Tonks' case) Dumbledore's office.

"Ah, Madam Bones, what lovely timing. I believe we were just about to discover why Alastor felt it wise to attack a member of the staff with an Unforgivable curse." The Headmaster said with a small huff.

"Mr Potter, are you alright?" asked a familiar voice.

Andrew groaned and opened his eyes coming face to face with Madam Pomfrey.

"God, what happened?"

"Welcome back, Mr Potter." came a voice to his side, looking over he saw Madam Pomfrey with what looked to be a clipboard in her hands.

"Ah, you know I've been in here so much might as well start calling me, Andrew." he replied with a cheeky grin.

"Yes, your skill at ending up in my infirmary is second only to your brother." Pomfrey said with a small smile.

"Any idea what happened?" Andrew asked leaning back into his pillow.

"Your shoulder was dislocated and your leg was broken. Honestly how you manage to break something every year is a rather impressive feat."

"Okay, the sarcasm was not needed." he said lightly. "Any idea who attacked me?" he asked seriously.

"I'm afraid, I do not know. Once your brother, Mister Weasley and Miss Granger brought you in, the headmaster arrived and stated that he needed to hold a meeting with some professors. They've been gone since."

"And how long ago was that?" he asked trying to gauge how long he had been out for.

"About twelve hours ago. I would've placed you in a potion-induced coma had your injuries been more severe. As it stands they were rather rudimentary. You should be good to go just before lunch." she told him with a nod of her head.

With that she nodded to him and told him to get some rest and that she'd check on him again when he woke.

Andrew sighed and looked out the window. Thursday would be upon them and soon after that, the Tri-Wizard selection would begin. For some reason, Andrew felt dread seep through his bones at the thought. He didn't know why, but he knew he was going to hate Friday.

Dumbledore, Madam Bones, Flitwick, McGonagall and Tonks stood in the headmaster's office awaiting the arrival of Snape with his supply of Veritaserum for the currently stupified Moody who was bound to one of the chairs in the office.

"Albus, I am not happy about this." Amelia Bones said in a tight voice.

"I understand, Madam Bones, I too find myself rather surprised by this... development."

"Not just this Albus; students being petrified, a cursed item, Quirrel's sudden disappearance, a Death Eater in the hands of a family close to Harry and Andrew Potter. There are too many questions and you headmaster have failed to address any of these incidents to the MLE. I've had to hear all of this from my niece and I am not happy about it."

Dumbledore sighed tiredly before looking at the Head Auror.

"I understand your... frustration Amelia. I truly do. But I am just as stumped as you are to all these events. I have my theories, of course. But I would like to confirm them before I bring them forward. It would not do to chase an empty claim. And with the events of the Quidditch cup, well I'd rather not start a riot unnecessarily." Dumbledore answered.

Before Amelia could respond. Snape entered the room.

"Did you get it?" Tonks asked.

"No, I decided to rather go to the kitchens and have a riveting discussion about the economic recession with the house elves." Snape drawled sarcastically.

"Okay, I was just asking. No need to be dick about it." Tonks said crossly as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Trainee, hold your tongue." Amelia snapped before turning back to the Potions Professor. "Get it ready." she raised her wand and pointed it at the unconscious man in front of her.

"Revenerrate." she muttered and immediately the man in the bonds snapped awake and looked around shocked.

"Wha-? Where am I? Amelia? Oh thank the Gods. Listen here-"

"Shut it! Who are you and what have you done with Alastor Moody?" Amelia asked sharply.

"Are you drunk, girl?! It's me! Now get these bonds off of me!" Moody shouted angrily.

The Auror had to admit that whoever was impersonating her old Mentor was really good at it. Maybe she should have taken Moody seriously when he told her that his garbage cans had been moved a centimeter since the last time he had checked them.

"Alright. Snape, if you would?" Amelia asked.

Without a word, Snape swooped in and forced Moody's head backwards. Swiftly he admitted the regular three drops and stood back waiting for the Potion to take affect.

Once the eyes glazed over Amelia leaned on the Headmaster's desk and stared directly into the eyes of the impostor.

"Now then... let's start over, shall we? Who are you?"

"My name is Bartemous Crouch Junior."

There was a moment of silence in the room before Tonks spoke. "Holy shit. This can't be good."

"No Trainee it is not. Now let's see what the supposed dead man has been up to lately," Madam Bones said in a cold tone.

Andrew had gotten visits from most of his Gryffindor year mates all coming to wish him well as well as to dig some information out of him regarding his attack. Many suspected foul play from the Slytherins, but they were quickly shut down by Andrew's insistence that they were innocent.

Whoever attacked him, wasn't out to kill him, simply incapacitated him. They broke his wand arm and his leg so they he wouldn't escape. It would've been easy to kill him once he was knocked out as well, but no – he was left alive. He did have the strangest feeling of vulnerability though.

As the day wore on Andrew got a visit from Hermione and smiled happily when he saw her.

"Miss Granger, what brings you to my humble abode?" he asked with a grin.

Hermione didn't share his particular mood for jokes as she sat down beside him.

"Why do you always end up in here?" she asked quietly.

Andrew didn't respond immediately instead waiting for her to get everything out of her system.

"First year it was Quirrel; you and Harry were found unconscious in that chamber room and you're both magically exhausted. Then the Basilisk; again you and Harry battle some ancient magical creature and we find you laughing with Ginny, Harry had the venom in his veins and you shattered your arm and your leg. Last year, those bloody Dementors. Andrew, why are you... and Harry always ending up in here?" she asked quietly.

"I don't know." he answered honestly. "Life's always been rather unfair to us. I don't know what to tell you." Andrew said.

Hermione sighed sadly before shaking her head slightly and looked at him again.

"Well, you missed the twins trying to get their names into the Goblet, again." she told him with a small laugh.

"Oh god, those morons. Tell me they got what they had coming to them." he asked with a laugh.

Giving a laugh of her own Hermione then proceeded to tell Andrew about the reaction causing both boys to rebound from the wards around the Goblet bald and with a crick in their backs. The pair laughed at the twins misfortune for a moment forgetting the heavy conversation they had earlier.

"Why are you impersonating Alastor Moody?"

Barty Crouch's polyjuice had worn out and they stared at a twitching, lithe man who was also a notorious Death Eater. When asked the question the man's mouth started moving, but no words came out of it. It seemed as if something was fighting against the Veritaserum.

"Unbreakable Vow." Dumbledore said in a strained whisper.

"Dammit alright, let's see... What are your plans for the Tournament?" Amelia asked again.

Once more he resembled a fish out of water.

"Where is the real Alastor Moody?" she asked.

"Trapped in his trunk in the Defense office." Barty Crouch responded lowly.

"Dumbledore?"

"I will alert one of the staff immediately." Dumbledore said rushing over to his Floo to contact the closest teacher who happened to be Bathsheda Babbling.

"Dammit. Are your plans nefarious?"

Barty Crouch ground his teeth before growling his response. "...Yes."

"Does it include a student from one of the three schools competing in the Tri-Wizard Tournament?"

"...Yes."

Turning to Dumbledore, Madam Bones raised an eyebrow.

"Any idea who he may be talking about?" she asked.

"Being a follower of Voldemort, I'm afraid there are only two possible students he may be referring to."

"Of course. Headmaster if you could please request a house elf to fetch the two boys and bring them here."

"Of course. Flipsy!" Dumbledore complied.

With a pop the small creature glanced up at the Headmaster.

"Yes, master Dumbly-dore, sir?"

"Flipsy could you please Harry Potter here and go to Madam Pomfrey and alert her that Andrew Potter's presence is also required in my office?"

"Yes sir, Flipsy be doing so, sir."

Once the elf popped away Amelia turned to Snape. "Do you have any idea what he's plan might be?" she asked.

"And why would I know what this... criminal has planned?" he retorted sharply.

"Well didn't you run in the same circles until quite recently?" Amelia shot back just as harshly.

"Now is neither the time nor the place for this discussion." Dumbledore cut in while rubbing his face tiredly.

Flitwick and McGonagall shared a look before stepping away from the others and having a quiet conversation between themselves.

"What do you think he has planned?" the Transfiguration professor asked the smaller professor.

"I don't know but we've determined that he attacked Andrew Potter to see what the boy thought about him. I'm confident Friday is going to shock the student body, and either Harry or Andrew or maybe even both will be once more treated unfairly. We must ensure those boys are safe." Flitwick answered with a sigh.

"I agree Filius. We should prepare some sort of statement for the Prophet as well as possibly curbing the students attitudes before Friday. Just in case." McGonagall said while rubbing her hands anxiously.

"We should probably also inform Sirius of this. What with everything that's happened I don't know if the boys have done it yet." Tonks spoke up.

"Good point. Trainee Tonks, if you please ask him to come to through?" Dumbledore said as he gestured to the fireplace.

Nodding Tonks went over and threw a handful of floo powder in the fireplace and contacted Sirius, letting him know just what was going on.

HP-AP-HP-AP-HP-AP

Harry arrived in the office to see Sirius, Dumbledore, Flitwick, McGonagall, his brother and Tonks all sitting in the office. Sirius seemed extremely upset and Andrew seemed thoughtful.

"Ah, Harry. Thank you for coming." Dumbledore greeted with a smile.

Sirius turned and stood before racing over and wrapping his arms around Harry.

"You alright, Prongslet?" he asked softly.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. What's going on?"

"If you would please take a seat, I'll explain everything we know so far." Dumbledore said gesturing to a chair between Andrew and Sirius.

Once he sat down he asked his brother how he was feeling and got a positive response before turning to the Headmaster.

"Sir, what's this about?" he asked again.

"Harry, what do you know of Azkaban?" Dumbledore asked after a minute.

"Err, not much, just some stuff I'd read." he answered.

Dumbledore nodded and posed the same question to Andrew.

"About the same, I haven't done any additional reading on it. I just know it houses some dangerous people and that's it's guarded by dementors." Andrew responded.

The Headmaster nodded his head and continued.

"Azkaban is the foremost prison in Magical England, it was established in the 15th century it's been used as a detention center since 1718. It's found out in the middle of the North Sea, unplottable and and hidden under a multitude of charms to keep muggles from stumbling upon it. It was said to be impenetrable and inescapable. Though we have proof that one has already accomplished such a feat." the Headmaster said tilting his head to Sirius with a slight smile on his face.

"But of course that was a fluke, yes? No one would be able to replicate such a feat again, or at the very least, that was what the ministry would have the public believe."

Harry noticed the graying, stoic lady in the corner wince slightly at that and suddenly felt a wave of panic rise through him.

"But, as I'm sure you boys have now realized, that is not the case. Professor Flitwick has explained the situation to us and we are aware that you boys suspected Alastor Moody of being an impostor, it would seem, your suspicions were correct."

"You aren't angry that we kept this from you?" Andrew asked with a raised brow.

Dumbledore blinked at the boy before shaking his head slightly. "Of course not, I do wish you had told me sooner, but you had informed a teacher and did not chase this lead on your own, which I would have been extremely upset about. As long as you inform someone in the staff of what is happening I will not hold it against you boys." he answered truthfully.

There was a beat of silence before Harry spoke up again.

"Sir, not that I am uninterested in the history of Azkaban, is there a reason you brought it up?" he asked.

"Yes, of course, you see boys; another break out had indeed been successful, maybe even before Sirius' breakout." Dumbledore answered.

"Wait, what? How?" Andrew asked with furrowed brow.

"We are currently investigating that, Mr Potter." Madam Bones replied. "We don't have anything concrete as of yet, but we are working on figuring out how this man escaped, especially since he was found dead in his cell."

"So we've had two dead men walking around a bunch of children. Fuckin yay." Andrew said sarcastically.

There was a snort of laughter from Tonks and a hard look from Madam Bones. Andrew didn't flinch under the gaze. The Dursley's had looked at him more threateningly.

"So what was he doing in the castle? Was he the one who attacked Andrew? Does this have something to do with the Tournament?" Harry asked in rapid succession.

"I would also like to know that? Was he the one who attacked my Godson and does this have to do with the tournament?" Sirius asked echoing the questions.

Dumbledore looked at the three in front of him and gave a sigh before he responded.

"Well, we don't have his full confession, but it is more than possible that, yes; he attacked Andrew and somehow affected the Goblet."
