CHAPTER 4

With her body still held securely in the demon jackal's arms, Rouge remained frozen as she didn't know what to do. Especially that the mysterious demonic rabbit child had now appeared. Her eyes were locked onto the young white rabbit boy that stood on the balcony of the second floor above them. At first glance, she didn't want to believe it, but she had seen the boy from somewhere before. She was in fact all too familiar with the boy. He was the same child who turned her into a demon. He along with the rest of The Dark Alliance used her to try to get Shadow to side with them. As well as to kill The Chaotix team along with the entire Detective Council itself.

Infinite slowly loosened his grip around Rouge until his hands were only gripped around her wrists instead while he turned his attention to the child who looked down at them from the balcony.

Rouge found a small moment of relief as she realized that her body wasn't being forced up against him. She honestly didn't know what would happen if the child didn't show up when he did. She figured that he would try to do unspeakable things with her. At least one good thing came of the boy appearing. He was distracting Infinite while she tried to think of a plan to get away from him. However she still couldn't help but to wonder why the child had suddenly shown up in the first place.

The demon jackal gritted his fangs in annoyance towards the child. He growled lowly under his breath, "Devil..."

The white rabbit child formed a small yet sinister smile while he looked down at the jackal who had Rouge in his possession. He slightly leaned the front of his body against the cool metal railing of the balcony he stood on while he looked below him. "Well, well...what do we have here? The bat woman?" With his elbow setting on the railing, he used his hand to place it against the side of his face to rest against. "Interesting that you decided to take her as a hostage. Let me guess? Trying to trap Shadow?"

Infinite scoffed under his breath and flashed his eyes away from him. "That wasn't really my intention but if he decides to drop by then I won't be disappointed either."

Devil rose an eyebrow at him looking confused with Infinite's real motives with Rouge, "Hm?" He then shifted his eyes over to the white bat woman who had a worried expression on her face while she looked back at him. He had then let out a heavy sigh before turning back to Infinite when he thought he figured the reason why he had Rouge in his possession in the first place. "...Honestly, I don't understand why you half demons are so obsessed with these mortal women."

He flashed his eyes back over at the child, "She's different", he snapped lowly. "You should know that out of everyone."

The demon child frowned back at him along with a disappointed look, "She's not on our side. Therefore is still the enemy. Along with Shadow and that snow white demon who serves alongside the Council."

"There's a way to fix that and you know it."

With a slight sigh, he took the front of his body from against the metal railing he had leaned on and started to slightly pace himself around the balcony he stood on. "We tried that already. It didn't work..." He recalled all too well how their plan with turning Rouge had ended up failing in the end.

"Then maybe..." He looked back over to Rouge who's wrists he still had in his grip. "There are other ways to convince them to join our side..."

Rouge's heart skipped a beat as she began to wonder what he had meant by his words. She had hoped that he didn't have the intention of making her drink his blood so she could fully become a full fledge demon. She still didn't remember what all she had done while she was a full demon because of being under Devil's mind control. But she knew it had made her become the one thing no one ever imagined her to be. Her eyes widened in horror over the thoughts until she heard Devil speak out again.

"You'd be wasting your time, Zero." He saw Infinite look back up at him while he still slowly paced around the balcony. "Now if I were you, I'd release her before that hedgehog hunts you down."

A low laugh had escaped him, "Heh, I'm not afraid of that hedgehog..."

"You damn well should be."

Both Infinite and Devil's eyes widened when they heard Rouge suddenly speaking out. He turned to look back over at her and saw her giving him a cold glare. "...What?"

While her wrists were still being held by Infinite, she clenched both of her fists as she continued to speak out angrily. "You may think you're strong for a half demon but you're not. Shadow is way out of your league. He may be a halfbreed, but he is Dark Demon's son! He has power no one can't imagine! And trust me...when he finds you, he'll fucking rip you apart!"

Devil along with Infinite had made a slight pause after hearing Rouge declaring that Shadow would kill the demon jackal. He was actually shocked hearing those words coming from her mouth. Though he knew he shouldn't be too surprised. After all, she had already witnessed his true power more than once. He had questioned before if Infinite and Shadow would be equal in power, but something deep down had assured him that Infinite would indeed struggle with defeating Shadow.

Rouge had then saw Infinite's shocked expressed suddenly turn into an angered one. It wasn't long before she could feel his grip around her wrists tighten. So tight to the point of her escaping a yelp from feeling the crushing pain. She then could hear his loud shouting at her.

"How dare you! You or no one else has witnessed my real power! Shadow along with everyone else will see how truly powerful I really am! And you all will be sorry!"

She realized how angry she had made him and suddenly realized that she probably shouldn't have said such bold statements especially while she was already in his possession. Also being surrounded by not only one but two strong S rank demons. Her body was then forcefully knocked down onto the cold hard floor and saw Infinite standing in front of her with a furious expression. She started to wonder if he really was planning on killing her just to make his point. Sadly she knew he could easily do it. She already knew she wouldn't even have a chance if she went up against him in battle. Suddenly her and Infinite had heard a low yet hysterical laugh coming from Devil.

"Very amusing indeed. As much as I'd love to look forward to seeing how this shit show plays out, I'd best be off." When he spun his back to them, he paused for a moment and turned his head to look back at Rouge while having his hands buried in the sides of his black shorts. "But I do suppose Infinite is right about one thing..." He made sure he locked his menacing red eyes into Rouge's, "Despite you being a quarter demon, you certainly are different..."

Rouge had then watched as the demon child suddenly vanish in a clouded dark aura. Before she could even try to analyze what Devil had meant, she was harshly grabbed by her arm and dragged off of the floor and back into Infinite's arms. Terrified, her eyes were locked onto his. Looking back at everything, she thought that maybe it wasn't so wise to mouth off at the two demons.

He tugged her by her arm making the front of her body press up against his once again. "I honestly forgot how high strung you were especially when it deals with your husband", he whispered to her in an angered tone while he leaned in close to her. He could feel her body slightly shaking against his. Feeling her body quiver with fear gave him the pleasure of satisfaction. He succeeded in doing what he wanted and that was to make sure to let her know that he was still in complete control of the situation. "I can't wait, my dear. I absolutely can't wait..."

She bit her lip in both fear and anger while she stared coldly into his eyes. She slightly hesitated before she had the nerve to speak to him again. She was so nervous she even found it hard to swallow, "...For what?" She asked in a quiet tone.

When he formed a devious smile, he made sure to flash his sharp fangs to her, "To kill...no...to slaughter your beloved husband to pieces because he has no idea who the fuck he's dealing with", he growled.

Her eyes widened as Infinite reassured her that he would kill Shadow, "...No..." She was then forcefully being led around the warehouse following closely behind him. "Let me go!" She tried to pull away and struggle from his grip but he was too strong to break away from. She shouted, "Let me go damn it!"

"Shadow will come for you and when he does, you and I will be right here waiting", he lowly growled under his breath while he continued to drag her throughout the warehouse.

Nell nervously clenched his notebook and pen close to him while he watched Shadow lay on the small bed in front of him and Nails within the small dark room they were in that was within the Chaotix Agency. The only thing lighting the room were the many candles that were lit that were used for the spell that Nails was currently performing on Shadow to make sure that he had stayed asleep. When he saw that he was in such a deep sleep, he could barely see his chest moving as he breathed. He figured he must was really in a deep state of sleep. It kind of worried him even more as he watched his still body lie there. He kept thinking over and over that this wasn't such a great way to try to find Infinite's location. After all, this kind of magic that Nails was using for this was involving the dark arts. It made him worry even more that Nails hadn't used this type of magic in awhile because she had stopped using dark magic. He slowly shifted his eyes back over to Nails who was chanting strange words lowly under her breath while she focused her attention on Shadow. He bit his lip slightly before speaking up. "Uh, Nails? Are you sure this is a good idea?" His eyes then wandered back over to sleeping hedgehog, "I mean he's barely breathing..."

"It's fine", Nails spoke in a low tone while trying not to take her total concentration from the spell she was performing. "I mean yeah it's not the safest of spells in the world but...Shadow's will is strong. He'll be okay."

He then turned his head back to face her even though he could barely see much of anything in the almost small pitch dark room they were in. "But what if something does happen?"

Nails didn't know how much reassurance she could give him on Shadow's safety. She kept telling herself that he would be fine but there could always be that small chance something serious could happen. To not only Shadow but even herself as well. After all she was the one performing the dark spell.

There was nothing but a dark abyss that appeared to go on for forever. Up, down, and all around. No matter where you looked, nothing could be seen but darkness. 'Where the hell am I?' Shadow continued to cautious walk through the dark abyss wondering where he could possibly be. As he slowly looked around him, he wondered if he was actually dreaming or if he was maybe in an actual place. A thought had then came across him. What if this all wasn't a dream? What if this was his own actual subconscious? Or maybe even Infinite's since the entire point of being put under a spell was to find his location in the first place. Of course he wasn't absolutely sure about any of his theories. He then came to a stop in his tracks when he heard a familiar male voice coming from behind him.

"You..."

He let out a small gasp and quickly spun around only to find a familiar figure standing at a distance behind him. Just having his eyes locked on his appearance made him clench both of his fists and grit his teeth in almost instant anger. It was him. He found him. Infinite, the demonic jackal who had been stalking him since he was in military prison. It was no mistake. Especially when the metal mask he wore was his signature trademark. "Infinite..." he growled under his breath in anger.

The black jackal raised his hand and used his index finger to point over at him. "I should've known you'd try to find some way to track me down." He lowered his hand by his waist and slightly shrugged his shoulders. "But who knew you'd try to find me deep within my own subconscious? How did you do it? Black magic?"

"That doesn't matter", he snapped coldly. "I came to find you and I did. Now where's Rouge?" He had then heard a slight pause from him. Even though he couldn't see his expression because of the mysterious mask he wore, he practically appeared to be shocked.

"Oh? So you've come for your wife eh?" He had folded his arms across his chest, "I'm surprised. I figured you wouldn't want anything to do with her. Especially after what she had done with that other hedgehog..."

That was the last thing he had wanted to be reminded of. Yes it happened but just thinking about it still made his blood boil in anger. "...Shut up", he spoke in a low yet threatening tone. His ears twitched when he heard a small yet cunning laugh coming from him.

"You still love her even after she betrayed your marriage. Amazing..."

"I said shut the fuck up!"

He quickly unfolded his arms when he saw him coming at him charging in great speed with his clenched fist coming towards him. He came at him so fast, it actually caught him off guard. His fist struck him hard in the side of his face. His punch was indeed powerful but he stood his ground and didn't even move his feet after the impact.

With his fist still sink into the side of his mask, he stood in front of him with his mouth hung open with him wondering how strong Infinite truly was. Especially if his body didn't budge from the powerful punch he had landed on him. Before he could make another move, he felt his fist make a powerful strike into his stomach. The hit was enough to free his fist from his face which caused him to step away from him. Before he could prepare for another attack from him, Infinite had stepped forward and used his elbow to strike him hard in the chest enough to knock him away from him at a good distance. He paused and remained on his feet while holding his stomach that Infinite had struck. He tried to fight the intense pain he felt but apparently the attack did more damage than he thought when he coughed up some blood. "God damn it", he coughed while holding the side of his stomach. He looked back up over to face the demon again, 'Should've knew he was going to be strong. Considering he's an S rank demon...' His eyes slightly widened when he looked closely and saw a few pieces from his mask crumbling and falling to the ground from where he had struck him.

He took his hand and slightly stroked it up against the cracked part of his mask from where Shadow had struck him. With a slight evil laugh escaping him, he looked back over at Shadow who had appeared surprised by the hit he had made on him as well. "I knew it", he spoke as he took his hand away from the side of his broken mask. "I knew you were strong."

"Bastard", he huffed under his breath. Judging by how Infinite took how he had punched him and didn't flinch, he knew he was a strong opponent as well. At this point, he knew he couldn't underestimate him. He was indeed who he thought he was. Strong like the rest of the demons in The Dark Alliance. Maybe even stronger. He stood in a fighting stance as he prepared himself to charge at him again. "You haven't even seen half of what I can do!"

The crack on the side of his mask had now exposed his wide and evil smirk. Even while he talked, Shadow could even see his sharp fangs. However that was still all what he could see from his face. He had then saw Shadow charging towards him once again. He held out both of his hands that had a purple aura of energy surrounding them. "Then I'm looking forward to witnessing more!" He eyed the sudden green aura surrounding Shadow's fists and took his hands to grab them so he could block his attack. As he held his hands with his own, he took note of Shadow's wincing and groaning in pain. He made a deep laugh as he witnessed his painful expression. "Heh what's the matter, Shadow? Does it burn? Because you're not burning me!"

He was so strong, Shadow couldn't pull himself from Infinite's grip and the burns from his attack was worsening. 'What the hell's going on? Why isn't he being burned by my Chaos energy? Is he...is he just withstanding it?'

Nell's light blue eyes widened when he could've sworn he saw Shadow's sleeping body twitching while he laid on the bed. In worry, he looked back at Nails who was still lowly chanting the spell. "Uh, Nails? I...I think something's wrong..."

Nails' looked away from the spell book that was set down on the white counter in front of her and shifted her eyes back over at Shadow. She noticed that his body was slightly twitching as well. "...Maybe he found Infinite's location?"

When Nell looked back at Shadow, his body startled with surprise when he saw some blood suddenly coming from his mouth and running down his chin. "Oh! Oh no! Shadow!" When he turned back around to face Nails, he saw blood suddenly coming from her mouth as well. He began to panic even more. "Nails! Wha-what's going on? Are you alight?"

"Shit", she muttered while she tried to wipe some of the blood from her chin. "He did find that son of a bitch and if I didn't know any better I'd say their fighting."

With unease, he took a small step towards her, "But...but what's going on with you?"

She took her hand and held the side of her stomach and winced slightly as she felt an intense and painful feeling. She panted slightly under her breath while she tried to explain what could possibly be happening with her. "Shadow's fighting with Infinite and since he and I are connected with the spell, whatever happens to him...happens to me..."

"N-No! Nails, you have to stop the spell or you could die!"

Unfortunately deep down Nails knew of the consequences before performing the spell. Messing with black magic was a dangerous game that she had always played and she knew what it did to her body. However for something like this, there was no choice. The spell had to get carried out no matter if it did cost her life in the end. She slightly shook her head towards the worried owl, "I have to keep going", she slightly panted. "Shadow will beat him. I know he will..."

"But..." Nell bit his lip nervously before looking back at Shadow's sleeping body. "There has to be some way we can help him!"

Nails looked over at Shadow's body as well and noticed that his twitching was worsening. "This is all going down in his dream. We can't do anything to help him. He has to find a way to beat him...without our help..."

Judging by her tone, he knew that she was starting to worry as well, "But what if he can't beat him? What's going to happen then?"

Nails didn't know what to tell him. She didn't know what would happen. She honestly didn't even want to think about the situation afterwards. After all, she believed Shadow was the only hope to stop Infinite. Before she could open her mouth to attempt to comfort Nell with words, she paused when they both saw a bright white light form around Shadow's body. "...What the hell is that?"

Nell found it hard to swallow when he thought of what the bright light could actually be. He slowly stepped closer towards Shadow's body. "...Is that...what I think it is?"

Infinite's evil smirk widened as he saw Shadow practically fall to his knees while he tried to withstand the burns from the dark demonic energy he had used to burn into his hands. "Heh, looks like I'm stronger than you!"

Shadow didn't know how much longer he could hold on and withstand Infinites' powerful energy. 'Damn it!' He thought, 'I don't know how much longer I can do this! If I don't do anything, then this will all be for nothing! I don't have a choice...' He began to unclench his fists until his hands had wrapped around his.

Infinite looked at how he was gripping his hands and turned to him with confusion. "...Hm?"

'Please!' He begged in his thoughts with his eyes shut tightly. 'Please work!'

Infinite took a small step back from him when he had saw a sudden bright white light surround the both of them. "What? What is this?" When he focused his attention back to Shadow, he saw him lock his angry eyes into his.

"Chaos Control!"

"What the?" Nails stopped chanting the spell and took her eyes away from the spellbook when a bright white light had lit up the entire small room. The light was so bright, it blinded her for a few seconds. "What the hell is going on?" When the light had faded and then disappeared, she looked and took a step forward with a shocked expression on her face. She couldn't believe what she had saw. Not only was Shadow's sleeping body gone but Nell had disappeared as well. She stood there in silence with a puzzled look on her face as she tried to think of what had just happened. "...Shadow?" She turned her head to look around the small room but didn't see Shadow or Nell for that matter anywhere. "...Nell?" She had then realized that the pain she was feeling from the battle between Shadow and Infinite had faded. She looked back over at the now empty bed that Shadow was laying in and thought about what could have happened. '...Was that Chaos Control?'

Author's Note: Hello! Yes I know it's been quite awhile since I have updated this story. Honestly I have to see how motivated I stay with it before I just decide to work on something else. So we will just see. But for now, working on this story is my top priority. Anyway more updates will be on the way so sit tight! Thank you all for being so patient with me. I will see you guys in the next update!
