Knight Atris was reaching her limit.

She didn't think such a thing was possible. She was a Jedi. She was supposed to extrude calm and patience. It simply did not happen.

And yet this upstart initiate, dare she call her that has done nothing but deconstruction and question everything about the order.

Meetra Surik, a blonde-haired youngling with blue eyes having a strong connection to the force was found only a few months ago had been nothing but a model Jedi who did everything her Masters ask of her without question.

If anyone had told Atris that Meetra was a difficult child she would be hard pressed to believe them.

Now though…

"Explain to me why exactly the Jedi forbidden attachments?" Meetra casually asked. She had her practice saber out and was mimicking the hologram movements of Shi-Cho form I.

The question seemed innocent coming from a youngling but Atris knew better.

"It is because attachments like love are a pathway to the darkside." She evenly answered. It was something she had recited many times before to younglings becoming second nature to her like breathing.

"And yet Ulic Qel-Droma's attachment to his brother is what caused him to return to the light." She retorted, angling her blade downwards.

Atris glared. "If that is what you believe what happened then you're wrong."

Meetra took the moment to stop following the hologram's movement and face atris. Deactivating the practice saber. "Oh? Do, enlighten me?"

"Ulic only betrayed Exar Kun to take his place as Dark Lord of the Sith. It is the way of the Sith to betray one another." She explained.

"You were there during the Great Sith War. I take it. You must have sensed his deception if what you say is true." She concluded, fingers stapled together.

"Well… no." She admitted, a little embarrassed. She wasn't actually there for Ulic Qel-Droma's supposed abandonment of the dark side.

"No? Then how can you be so sure that his return to the light is wrong?" She pointed out.

"Because once you start down the dark path it will dominate your destiny." She confidently stated.

"You believe that when people start down a dark path they are incapable of being good."

"Of course." She said her expression stonefaced and without the slightest hesitation or doubts in her tone.

Atris stiffened when Meetra regarded her with a cold stare that sent chills down her spine. "People are only incapable of change if they cannot admit they were wrong unless you are attempting to imply that the chronicolar is biased and fabricated lies about our order's history."

Atris gritted her teeth in frustration. She didn't miss the double meaning of those words. This was how it would usually go: the Initiate would ask a seemingly harmless question and she would walk right into her trap.

The worst part about the heated argument was it was one-sided. Despite her best efforts she would let her anger get the better of her and become even more frustrated when the initiated didn't even raise her voice. She would present hard cold logic and flaws that would contradict her arguments.

"I would never insuitate such a thing about our order's chronicolar." She replied with a firm voice

"And yet you seem to think you know so much better than the several members on the Jedi council who fought in the last Great Sith War." She retorted.

"Watch your tone initiate." Atris hissed. "I don't like you accusing me that I would ever question the order's wisdom."

"I apologize, I only wish to better understand the way of the Jedi and the Order's history." Meetra humbly bowed her head.

She was mocking her; they both knew it but she couldn't call her out on it unless she wanted to make a scene in front of clan Dragon.

"If you wish to know more then discuss it with the chronocolar he is always happy when a student takes an interest in the order's history."

"I would but the Chronocolar isn't here. You are." She pointed out. "If the debate about whether or not Ulic Qel-Droma, return to the light is genuine or not bothers you so much, let us talk about something else."

"Like what?" She should know better not to ask but her pride won't let her.

"The tale of Exar Kun he formed the infamous brotherhood of the Sith did he not?"

Atris narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Yes, he did, where are you going with this?

"I expected more patience from one of the order's finest Jedi Knight." She snarked with a sly smirk.

"Meetra." She growled, dropping the initiate tile.

The initiate's smirk only further infuriated her. "Exar Kun was taught by Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas but he wasn't his only student, is that right?"

"That's right Master Vodo-Siosk Baas had many Padawans after Exar Kun had fallen to the dark side it was decided that a Jedi Master or Knight would only be allowed to take one Padawan."

"And the ones who failed, the initiate trials would be forced into the Agriculture corp." She concluded.

"Not just the Agriculture corp, there is more than one. Why does the topic of the Jedi corps matter to you? It is of no concern to an initiate." She dismissively stated.

Atris was caught off guard when Meetra agreed. "You're right it is no concern of mine however it should be a major concern to the Jedi council."

Atris frowned in confusion. "Why would the Jedi council be concerned?"

Meetra sighed in disappointment. "Is it not obvious?" She rhetorically asked. "You claim it is to prevent students from falling to the dark side and yet those who do not desire to be farmers or explorers begin to breed resentment."

"If they did not want to be sent off to the corps then they should have put a better effort into the initiate trials." Atris retorted with a scowl.

"Except a good number of them successfully pass their trials but none of them were granted a Jedi Master to teach them." She easily countered.

"That is because there are only so many Masters in the Order that can teach and the ones that don't have other duties that prevent them from taking on a Padawan." She argued. Yes it is unfortunate but there are only so many Jedi that can teach.

"There is a very simple solution to fix that you are remaining wholly ignorant of or simply choosing to ignore." She pointed out.

"It is against the Jedi Code to take on more than one Padawan." She automatically replied.

"That wasn't always the case was it? Before the Great Sith War the Jedi experimented taking in children and teenagers across the galaxy that were older than the age limit and Jedi Masters were allowed to teach more than one Padawan."

"An experiment that failed leading to the Great Sith War!" She fiercely retorted.

Meetra arched an eyebrow. "So Exar Kun was older than the standard age limit when he was taken in."

Atris had no counter argument because no Exar Kun wasn't above the standard age limit when the Jedi had taken him in. In fact quite a good number of Jedi in the Sith War were older than what the Jedi typically allowed and remained firmly in the light but that was beside the point.

"No but his Master trained around a dozen Padawans Exar Kun included. It merely exemplifies my reasoning why there can be only one Master and one Padawan no more no less."

Meetra showed surprise. "He took on that many Padawans."

"Close to a Dozen." Atris amended. She wasn't sure what the exact number was but it was close to that amount.

"Fair enough." She conceded with a shrug. "But a balance must be maintained. Going too far on either opposite side of the spectrum can be dangerous."

"Hmm, feel this way you do?" KOTOR's Master Yoda remarked.

"Master Vandar!" Atris and all the other Initiates bowed their heads except me.

Something Master Vandar noticed to his amusement. "Bow, why do you not?"

"Sorry Master Vandar but you never asked." I quibbed with a mischievous smirk.

Atris glared. It was one thing to show disrespect to her but a member of the Jedi council, the nerve.

"I'm sorry Master Vandar I'll be-" She stopped mid-sentence when Master Vandar let out a chuckle of amusement.

"Refreshing it is to see a student with a sense of humor much too serious the council is."

"But it is not without good reason. The council has a big responsibility and sworn duty to defend the greater galaxy." She respectfully stated.

"Humorous and wise." Vandar praised. "Heard you I did, discussing the manner of allowing one Padawan per Master can be dangerous, explain this."

Atris couldn't believe what she was hearing. Master Vandar was actually going to entertain this upstart.

Meetra crossed her arms behind her back. "I will restate my point earlier about how Masters limiting to one Padawan can leave potential hopefuls feeling resentment at getting sent to the corps."

Vandar frowned but was listening attentively. "Punishment, the corps are not."

"I never said they were." She calmly spoke. "But you took us in as younglings with the promise of becoming Jedi. Getting sent to the corps I imagine many of them feel betrayed and lied to."

Vander looked surprised. Had it really never occurred to them?

"Consider this we did not." He admitted suddenly becoming solemn. "Many Masters were lost in the Great Sith War."

That explained why so few got assigned. I knew the order suffered casualties but was it really that bad? It explained why the Jedi council were so reluctant to go to war with the Mandalorians.

"And because of that many are letting their potential as Jedi go to waste."

"Come to a compromise you think we should." Master Vandar concluded.

"Master Vandar you can't actually be serious, compromising is what led to the Great Sith War." Atris argued.

"A point you make." Vandar accepted before turning me. "What say, you do?"

I didn't expect Vandar to actually let me challenge Atris and to be so open minded. I expect to be completely shut down when I speak my mind.

"She is correct that taking on too many students can fail to impart lessons necessary to be a Jedi; however that doesn't mean the Masters should limit themselves to a single Padawan."

"Oh?" He gave the go ahead for me to continue.

"Too many Padawans at once can be overwhelming to even the best of Jedi; however I think it should be limited to no more than Four or Five. It is entirely up to the Master how many they wish to take, otherwise they might see the limit of only one Padawan doubt in their abilities."

Vandar realized what Meetra was implying. Sooner or later a prideful Jedi Master might interpret the one Padawan rule the wrong way. Seeing it as calling their competency of teaching in the question.

Admittedly, Vandar felt a little bit insulted about this guideline.

"Master, it is against our tradition to allow more than one Padawan! We'd risk them falling to the dark side!" Atris insisted.

I resisted the urge to facepalm in frustration. I knew Atris would be stubborn and narrow minded but c'mon this was ridiculous.

"Already at risk of the dark side we have put the younglings in." Vandar patiently pointed out. "Heard your conservatory standpoint we have. Only fair it would be to hear from progressive one."

"Master Vandar I appreciate your willingness to listen but why?" I honestly didn't expect any of the Jedi to listen and yet here I am.

Vandar's ears dropped in sadness, a solemn expression on his face. "Many on the council, myself included, felt we were too hasty and guided by fear rather than rationality."

"It is understandable Master Vandar." I said sympathetically. "A war just happened not too long ago and the last thing any of us wants is another one that will cause further loss of life."

Vandar smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "Right you are. Come, follow."

Great, it was time to face the music. Ironically Atris didn't look too pleased with the notion but thankfully didn't protest.

The two of them left but Meetra stopped and turned back to the Jedi Knight. "Just so you know this is the beginning between you and me." She warned, giving a cocky little smirk. "And I'm gonna enjoy pushing all of your colorful little buttons every single step of the way." She bowed mockingly and followed after Master Vandar but not before she heard Atris screams of frustration and sounds of furious lightsaber strikes on a practice dummy.

Vandar looked annoyed. "Necessary was that?"

Meetra shrugged. "Necessary? No. Worth it? Definitely." She said with a wide grin.

XXX

Shi-Cho [Form I] - lvl.37

I smirked at the levels I gained. This was only from a four hour training session, just two more and I'll reach adapt. I might hate Atris but she is a good lightsaber instructor.

It still doesn't mean I'm going to act like a dutiful little drone and nod along.

Gamer's mind: Deactivated

All of sudden it felt like I just got hit by a truck. A drop of sweat rolled off my forehead causing me to wipe it off. Whoa I was so distracted in relying up, Atris. I never noticed how tired I felt, all of my muscles ached, I was surprised my body hadn't yet collapsed from the combination of pain and fatigue.

Something that didn't go unnoticed by Vandar. "Need a break do you?"

"I'm….fine." I wheezed, chest rising and falling greedily consuming the oxygen in the air. "Just…need…a…minute." I fell against the staircases railing.

+4 STR, CON, DEX due to righteous lightsaber training.

Okay so each hour of training counts as an addition in STR, CON, DEX. Good to know.

"Push yourself too hard, you should not." Vandar cautioned.

"Sorry." I huffed, inhaling and exhaling. "Guess I was so caught up in the moment I never noticed how tired I really was."

"Whenever one gets tunnel vision, tend to ignore everything else they do." Vandar remarked.

"Say." I stood up and rolled my shoulder to alleviate the pain but it only caused more discomfort making me graspe at it. "The council won't be too upset if I take a moment to rest."

Vandar looked amused. "What made you ever think? Heading to the council we were."

Vandar must've seen my flabbergasted expression. He chuckled. "I thought this was about my outburst of anger they sensed."

"Sensed it, we did." Vandar acknowledged. "It was decided I would be the one to help you overcome this."

"So I'm not being sent to the council to face judgment." I asked, making sure.

"No." Vandar affirmed with an amused smile. "If everytime a youngling felt anger, fear, or some other form of aggression had to face council we wouldn't even have the time to safeguard the galaxy we would."

When Vandar put it like it did sound kind of stupid.

"So if I'm not in trouble then where are you taking me?"

Vandar just gave me a mysterious smile and made a hand motion that said 'come follow me and you will learn why.'

I obeyed. He took us outside the temple into the fresh air. I was surprised at how good it smelled. I expected the coresunt to have much pollution inside the air but I reminded myself that I was still near the Jedi temple. Many of the force grown trees here were planted inside and outside the temple. It is likely why the fresh air smells so clean.

Since Vandar brought me out here there was only one conclusion.

"We are here to mediate." It wasn't even a question.

Vandar didn't answer, he just got in a sitting position behind a force tree and closed his eyes.

I moved to copy him.

[Mediation](LS) lvl.1 - allows the user to achieve a peaceful state of happiness and recovery of stamina.

1% recovery of FP

One percent recovery of FP might not seem like much in the short term but in the long term once I maximize the novice tier I'll get a 100 percent increase in force points. The only complaint I had with this new ability was the lack of HP recovery shouldn't that count as well.

Negative, to recover health points you either need to rest, use healing items, or unlock the ability healing trance.

Healing Trance?

[Healing Trance](LS) Locked - To unlock this ability you need meditation at Adapt:1

I frowned because several minutes had already passed by and I still hadn't gained any levels. It could take me hours to just get Meditation to level up. Adapt:1 Meditation could take me weeks, maybe even months to complete depending on whether I wanted to master lightsaber combat or force abilities.

Decisions, decisions.

I still had a couple years before the initiate trials would start. The trial would decide who is assigned to a Master and who would be sent off to the corps. I doubt my conversation with Vandar would have any real effect despite his willingness to listen. Vandar might, just might gain a few supporters that are inclined to listen to the idea but it is highly unlikely they will agree to it.

"Good now release your emotions in the force." Vandar soothingly advised.

I did just that, releasing my earlier emotions in the force feeling a calm wave washed over me. It wasn't like the gamer's mind; the feeling was more like apathy. I should be feeling something and yet I don't. This was different. It felt nice like taking a relaxing dip in a hot tub, not too hot, just the right temperature required. I can see why the Jedi liked to meditate so much in their spare time.

1 Meditation level up

That was it, just release my emotions into the force and I'll gain levels in meditation.

Correct this is the variation of Jedi mediation which requires you to be calm and be at peace with yourself.

And the Sith variant.

[Meditation](DS) Locked - To unlock this achieve LS Meditation prodigy:1 or darkside alignment.

If you don't know the difference between LS and DS meditation let me educate you. DS involves feeding off negative emotions, anger, fear, and hatred to increase their power in the dark side of the force. LS requires you to find your center to be calm and at peace with yourself. The problem is I can't use more of the admittedly cool force powers until I get False Aura of Light Prodigy:1.

[False Aura of Light.]

Game, will I level up while it's active or the more often I use the ability.

Both actually just remember it lasts an hour and it will take an hour to recharge.

I felt Master Vandar's presence diminishing. I opened my eyes to see him heading back inside the temple.

"You're leaving me?" I inquired.

Vandar turned and faced me with an amused expression. "Enjoyed our Meditation, I did but dark, it is. Get to bed with the rest of your clan you should."

I finally noticed that it was indeed dark. Sadly I had more pressing matters than admiring the beautiful night sky.

"How long have we been Meditating?" It couldn't have been that long. Could it?

"Hours." He answered with a straight face.

The goblin smirked at my stunned expression. "Worry you should not be, it is quite common for Jedi to lose track of time when they meditate."

If it's been hours then why…

10+ Meditation leveled up.

Oh c'mon game now you're just mocking me.

"I always assumed they were sleeping, not meditating." I quibbed.

Vandar didn't look incensed, just even more amused than he already was. "Come take you to bed I will."

I was 90% sure my eyebrow did not twitch at being treated like a child.

And Vandar most certainly did not sport a shit eating grin.

Hiaresportsyou: You make a good point you can gain certain traits by delving into the dark side of the force but is Psychopath trait really that overused? I've seen my fair share gamer fics but most of them went with the Sociopath trait. Sin of Wrath it was either that or Sin of Sloth. If I went that route I would have to retitle the story Galaxy's Laziest Gamer and revamp the direction in the story I wanted to go but I hope by the time you read this you'll notice a difference in this story that most gamer fics haven't tried before.

Edboy4926: Thank you. I thought the intro was a little short but I'm trying to write good quality chapters instead of really lengthy ones.
