It's Only the Rain :A Plants in the City Drabble

They were in a womb of shattered glass and twisted metal. Rem's hair, damp with sweat and blood, laid on his face. She almost seemed dead until she blinked. "Are you all right?"

His body ached from bruises, cuts, and burns too many to count. "It hurts," he rasped.

Perhaps he was a selfish child, but he was sick and feverish and thus had reason for those things. "Ssssh," Rem said, before she was overtaken by a fit of coughing.

Something wet and vaguely copper smelling landed on his face. "Rem?"

"Don't worry," Rem said weakly, "It's only the rain."
