A/n: (All might and AFO don't exist in this universe, I feel like MHA has too many stories where their dichotomies are the biggest focus instead of focusing on the other aspects of Mha, the limitless potential of The meta liberation army, Stain, The Yakuza, the creature rejection clan, so many ideas that are glossed over to focus on an arbitrary hero vs villain storyline.)
November
Izuku had gotten home with his Mom none the wiser as to his late night activities, but when he woke up, it wasn't entirely clear if he dreamt last night or not.
His eyes shot open, no need for grogginess. Izuku shot up instantly, his mind and body perky compared to his usual. Green hair shifted, getting out of bed, Izuku walked to get dressed. But he caught something in his peripheral, taking a step back to the mirror in his room, his jaw dropped.
'I'm… Ripped?' And not ripped in the body builder way, but like a calisthenic athlete/acrobat, lean and lithe with pectorals and abs he didn't remember having. His shoulders and arms seemingly tripled in size (from nothing), what the hell happened?
"Was it… real?" He did a few quick flexes in the mirror, the way his muscles rippled around his back in particular was slightly uncomfortable to the previously scrawny young man. Not an ounce of body fat was visible on him, Izuku flexed in the mirror for a few minutes.
Sitting at his desk in a thinking position, "This shouldn't be possible, even the fastest muscle growing quirks don't work this fast and on this level! The amount of energy needed to support my rampant muscle growth over the course of 8 hours would leave someone dead. But then again quirks have done more absurd things before, sometimes even unscientific-" He stopped himself suddenly, ceasing his muttering.
He shook his head suddenly, "What am I doing, this is embarrassing…" sitting up and putting on a shirt, Izuku noticed how much tighter it felt on him now. The white collared shirt felt tight on his body and hugged it perfectly, the sleeves just short enough to show off his newly defined tricep.
"Izuku! Breakfast dear!" His mother said from the living room, at that moment his stomach decided to grumble.
"Huh, I feel way more hungry than usual… Must be due to my sudden increased musculature." Izuku said, grabbing his door knob only for it to be crushed under his grip.
"Woah!" The man removed his hand from the knob, inspecting it. He sighed before applying less pressure and turning the knob, he shook his head and left. He'd have to get a new door knob later before he went to Shield labs.
Gliding through the hall like a changed man, Izuku walked into view of his mother. With agility, he vaulted over and onto his chair just in time for his Mom to turn around and serve his food.
"So, I didn't see you last night. How'd it go?" Izuku opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by his phone blaring. He raised a finger to his mom and answered it.
"Hello?"
"HI!" Izuku had to push the phone away, the loud recognizable feminine voice hurting his sensitive ears.
"Ohhhh is that a girl?" His mother said, raising a single brow as she ate her food. Izuku glared at her before speaking again. "M-melissa?" He got out unevenly, inwardly groaning at his mother's cries of 'A foreigner?!?'
"Yeah it's me, is this a bad time?" She inquired, her voice getting worried.
Izuku was confused why she would call him at 8 AM in the morning,"No no you're fine but… Erm, how did you get my number exactly?" He said before facepalming, obviously from the employee records he'd submitted.
"A little birdie told me." He chuckled at her trying to be coy, he prodded at his breakfast and stared idly off in the distance, smiling.
"D-did you want to talk about something?" He asked, ignoring the joyful tears from his mother.
"Yeah, I was wondering if you were feeling okay, you did get bitten by a spider after all, are you feeling any after effects?" Izuku warmed up, not used to someone showing concern for him.
"Y-yea, I'm good, I feel great even." He said, his voice somehow clearer than before.
A giggle, "Sounds like it, are you eating breakfast right now?" Izuku said yes.
"Say hi to your family for me, I'm sure they are lovely people." Izuku smiled stupidly, gosh she just sounded so nice.
"I will tell my mom." And he did.
"She a friend of yours?" Inko asked, eliciting a nod from her son. "She sure is sweet, checking up on you, oh girls like that are rare son!" Izuku scrunched up his face at her volume.
"Is that your mom?" Izuku nodded dumbly before realizing she couldn't see him, "Y-yeah, just me and her."
"What about your dad?"
…
"He's… he's not living with us, honestly I don't even know if he's still alive." He said unabashedly.
"Izuku!" His mom scolds him, drawing a glare.
"What? We haven't heard from him in years, the only proof we have is the small fund he gives us every year." He hid the phone away so Melissa couldn't hear them, he sighed and shook his head as Inko walked away.
"Sorry about that." Izuku apologized, waiting for a response.
"... I lost my mom too, she died in a villain attack only a year after I was born." Izuku felt like crying again, the two young adults were remarkably similar and yet… so different. At least he could remember his dad, however faintly.
"I see… I'm sorry."
"Yea, don't worry about it. We can't focus on the past with such a bright future ahead can we?" Their conversation continued as normal, Izuku relishing his newfound friendship with someone just like himself.
After receiving an email, Izuku learned he was set to move in later today, trucks would come to bring his belongings and then he'd be good. An official intern, a new life was ahead of him now. It was almost like a dream, new powers, new job, new friend…
Life was good.
But he still had to tell his Mom about his new powers, right? Maybe later, he didn't want to worry her this early in the morning. But what if she reported it to the authorities? He wasn't sure if he wanted the government breathing down his spine at this development.
After finishing their conversation, the two young adults said their goodbyes and pocketed their phones. Izuku had an everlasting smile on his face, rethinking their conversation before shaking his head.
Preparing to leave, Izuku stopped. "Alright Mom, I'll be back later!" He shouted out to her, not waiting for a response.
Strolling through the streets, Izuku decided he wanted to test out these powers of his more, so far all he knew was that he had super strength and speed, as well as instincts that helped him move like a spider, he could stick to walls, he also had a sixth sense or something like it... a spider… sense? Yeah, that's it. Izuku was brimming with excitement at the prospect of using his powers more, but he had to do it where he was more secretive.
Izuku's ears twitched suddenly, "Get up mongrel!" Turning his body sharply to look down the alleyway, his blood froze when he saw two teenagers surrounding a crumpled man who'd just been attacked, he quickly hid behind a corner before any of them could spot him.
'Those are gangsters! A bunch of highschool brats…' Izuku peeked at the commotion, absorbing the scene from a safe distance.
"I hate pathethic shits like you, rotting in a back alley while the resth of the world moves, you probably thought I was going to give you some well earned coinage for sitting on your ass huh?" He was a tall young male with a mask covering his entire head and a spiked jacket leather bottom combo, the masked teen had a lisp also which added onto his already higher pitched voice. The homeless man winced as rough hands tore him up into the air by his ragged shirt, his eyes staring pleadingly to his attacker for him to stop.
A smaller hand landed on his shoulder, a shorter younger male who bore the same mask and getup. "Hey big man, don't do it bro, he's just a straggler. Just scare him a bit, yo." The larger gangster shoved him off, still glaring down at the helpless man.
"Couldn't give a sghit, fucker probably lives off tax money, my dad busts his ass off everyday as a tax paying citizen only for rejecths like this guy to scrape by with that shit." His voice strained, anger seeping through every word.
"Alright man, do what you want. Don't blame me if you get your ass kicked by a hero." 'Small guy' and 'large guy' separated, the shorter of the two walking away with a sigh.
Izuku watched on in muted horror, his eyes suddenly narrowing as anger filled in them. He unbuttoned his collared shirt and mustered up the courage to approach the rampaging teen, his eyes narrowed into slits. Inwardly he was questioning himself as he strides forth with aggression in his step, but he couldn't just stand by.
'What am I doing, I'm not a hero!'
'It's not my business… I'm just a civilian…'
'Im weak and useless anyways.'
Izuku grew frustrated at his inner voice, "Shut up…" he leaned against the wall, still hidden in the shadows.
The homeless man got shoved down, his hands raised up as he scampered to get away. "Please stop, I tried to get a job but no one hires the quirkless anymore!"
…
"Quirkless."
Izuku froze.
'That man… He's who I might have been…' Izuku was stunned, the reality of his life had he not been blessed with his opportunities.
The large teen cackled with an odd laugh, "A quirkless huh? You guys are a real waste of space arentcha, how's it feel to have no powers?" The ragged man was kneeling, begging for forgiveness for doing nothing.
'Run away! It's not your fight!'
'He won't hurt him too badly, right?'
Izuku grit his teeth, slamming a fist against the brick wall he was standing next to. "Shut. Up!" He hissed.
The man brandished his hands and spikes popped out, sharp steel spikes. "Check these out! Pretty sharp, wouldn't want someone to stab you with these right?" He jeered at the man on the ground, swiping at him mockingly and laughing while he did so.
'He has a dangerous quirk too!'
'He isn't even hurting him, look! We can just move on with our-' The punk was screaming now.
"YOU WASTE OF SPACE!"
"SHUT THE HELL UP."
The silence was deafening, the yell echoed throughout the alleyway. Izuku stood in the light now, his full figure in broad daylight, Izuku looked positively pissed off. He began walking towards the two boys who were rooted to the ground after his yell, "You two little b-brats better scram!" Izuku felt his testosterone levels rise with every step.
The big one puffed out his chest and began to approach as well, "Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about it old man?" Izuku recoiled as if struck.
He stared at the masked teen incredulously, "Old man??? I'm just 19 y-you, you idiot!" The teen was slightly taller than him, and he began to laugh at Izuku's reddened face while brandishing his spikes.
"Are you serious? Get losth weirdo, we'll kick your ass, we're the demon brothers and we control this sthreet." Izuku frowned at the childish name, clenching his fists when he saw the smaller of the two come up next to his Ally. But he lightened when he saw the older man escape thanks to his distraction, Izuku turned his attention back to the teens in front of him.
"T-this street? That's it?" He tilted his head.
The green eyed man could tell the boy was flushing behind that mask,"Shuth up mongrel." Izuku had trouble taking the younger male seriously with that lisp of his. He sighed and shook his head.
Widening his eyes, he felt a familiar sensation blaring in his head. His spider sense shot off, warning him of the incoming charge. The larger teen roared as he shot forth, almost in slow motion. Izuku grinned and side stepped the teen's sloppy punch sending him careening off balance.
"I'll get you for that bastard!" The teen rotated on his heel and rotated his body in one clean motion, a right hook soaring out to hit Izuku right in the face.
The man in question merely caught it, his brow raised as he tightened his grip.
"Oi let me- AGHH! Mother fucker!" Izuku barely tightened his grip, laughing as the larger teen used all his strength to pull his arm out.
His spider sense blared, Izuku quickly released the teen a split second before spikes jutted from his palm violently. Izuku gulped, inwardly thanking his new power.
"Ha…" the teen was huffing and puffing, cradling his hand. Their scuffle had created quite a bit of noise, Izuku was wondering why no heroes had shown up yet…
Izuku could tell by the unfocused behaviour of the teen that he wasn't actually that dangerous, more bark than bite. But their scuffling was getting rather loud.
"HEY, YOU KIDS ARE UNDER ARREST." Yep, there it was.
Izuku refused to get arrested, if he did then he'd lose his shot at shield industries in a heartbeat, he quickly leapt into the air and began to sprint up the alleyway wall much to the shock of the three still at street level. Exhilarated, Izuku had just committed his first act of vigilantism... If you could call it that.
"Holy crap! That guy got out of here quickly, lucky for him I have you two to take care of." A man with a wacky voice and tape dispensers for elbows shook his head before shooting out his elbows and wrapping the two teens up in tape.
"Wonder where that guy went, he was gone before I could even see his face…" The tape quirk user muttered, ignoring the squirming of the teens behind him on the ground.
"Oh whatever." He'd been stationed in Tokyo for a few months since graduation, he'd seen a lot crazier stuff.
Oh, and his name was Cellophane.
"Hey, pleasth don't tell my popsth! I'm a good kid, I just had some pent up aggressthion!"
"No promises kid, and didn't anyone ever tell you lot that leather jackets went out of style over 100 years ago?" He flicked the large teen on the forehead.
"I told you so, idiot." The smaller teen sighed.
'At least I helped an old man today!' He grinned as he climbed higher and higher, scattering a roost of pigeons as he shot into the air at the precipice of his climb. Knees buckling, Izuku stood up and breathed in the fresh air of Musustafu, he'd be seeing a lot less of the city soon. It was nostalgic, in a way. He stretched his arms out as if to embrace the city.
With these powers, marked a new beginning, he was strong now, totally normal within the realm of quirks.
But suddenly, without warning… something shot out of his wrist.
Thwip!
Izuku stared incredulously, watching as the substance shot through the sky at high speeds. Sticking to a billboard, the glob of white fluid spread out as...
"Spider… webs?"
Okay, maybe not so normal.
End prologue.
A/n: (So innitally I wanted him to use his webshooters to get around and such, but then i realized I couldn't really do that especially this early since people would easily deduce who he was off him using the invention, the webshooters wouldn't be common use tech yet. And plus, Im a Tobey guy, so this feels natural to me. sorry if you don't like it.)
