Loona seemed to be liking this Cody boy a great deal. The young child was looking out the window and he was glad that hell was not an eternal lake of fire where all bad people go to. While he was still not over his parents' death, he was feeling a little less sad than before. Still, he had friends up on Earth, and he was worried about his friends in school, along with his teacher. Mrs. Gallagher was one of the nicest teachers a kid can ask for, and Colin really admired her a great deal for being such a sweetheart and loving children, trying to help them learn things as quickly as possible.
Of course, there was the neighbors next to his now burnt house. Cody didn't know if everyone else believes him to be still alive or everyone thinks that he died in the fire along with his parents.
Yet again, the fire department saw Loona help him get out of the blazing home, and carry him to safety. So, the marshal probably told everyone int he neighborhood that the boy was fine, but probably don't know his current whereabouts. Not only them, but Cody had an older brother who doesn't live with his family anymore for some reason. "Uhh, Loona? I don't know if I wanna go outside and see those scary demons."
"Ah, don't worry, kiddo." Loona shrugged. "Just stick with me and try not to pick a fight with any of them, and you'll get along just fine with most of the locals. 'Matter of fact, why don't I show you my weird coworkers."
"Ummm. I don't know. What if they try to hurt me?"
"Ah, they won't." the female hellhound shrugged off. "Blitzo, Moxxie, and Millie are people I can tolerate, but you'll be fine. So come on, you should meet them. Besides, they probably wanna meet you anyway Cody."
"They know about me?"
"Yep. Well, they don't know your name or how the fire started."
"Well, ok." Cody finally complied. "But can you please protect me?"
Loona smiled warmly and getnly ruffed his light-brown hair. "Don't worry, sweetie. You have my word as a hellhound. I won't let any demon hurt you down here."
Cody smiled with gratitude showing on his little boy face. She gently picked up Cody and cradled him in her arms like an infant. "This feels a little uncomfortable."
"I know. But i'm too tall you hold your hand and i can't have you ride on my shoulders because I have sensitive hair." Loona remarked. She thought that it would be deathly embarrassing to be seen carrying a human child in her arms like this as if she was his own mother, but this child was very shaken and now alone with no parents to take care of him. Going out of the house, and walking down the sidewalk, and many kinds of demons were seen here. Hellhounds of course, and imps, but there were also plant demons, ice demons, fire demons, and others.
Cody had a small, squeamish feeling in his stomach looking at the demons who were staring at him passerby. "Wow. They look scary and intimidating."
"Just ignore them and look at me, OK?"
"OK."
"Hey Loona!" said a gruff voice. It was a large, black hellhound with a white tank top and white hair on his face. "What ya got there?" this guy looked at the kid, and his face turned from curious to hungry. "Oooh, this kid looks delicious to eat. I should eat the liver first, then the brain."
"Hey!" Loona exclaimed. "Back off, Pax! This kid is not my lunch, he is my friend. By Satan almighty, I will rip your throat out of you try to take a bite."
"OK! OK! Sorry, Loona." Pax replied before walking away.
Loona smiled and looked back at the boy. "Sorry about Pax. He's not that bad. He can be ravenous sometimes."
At last, Loona was back at the I.M.P building and gently put the traumatized boy down on the ground. "Can you walk kid?"
"Yeah."
"But stay close to me and don't wander off, alright?"
"OK. I don't know if I would want to wonder off anyway."
Loona couldn't help but chuckle at the child's adorable innocence. "Good. Good. Blitzo's probably worried about me anyway."
"And he's your daddy?"
"Well... my adopted dad. And honestly... I don't know who my biological parents are."
Cody looked sympathetic to his new hellhound friend. "I'm sorry, Loona."
"Nah, don't be sorry, buddy. I'm fine." Loona walked in the meeting room with Cody behind her, hiding behind her left leg. There were Loona's imp associates just talking. "Hey guys. Sorry for taking so long, but I'm back."
"Loona!" Blitzo shriekd with joy, hugging her tightly like he was her real father. "You had me very worried back there."
"OK, stop hugging me or I'm gonna have to gouge your eyes out, Blitz." Loona said, growling."
Scared at how scary his adopted daughter can be, Blitzo immediately let her go so he wouldn't have to be blind for the rest of eternity. "Sorry Loons, you're just very special to me."
"Whatever." Loona rolled her eyes in irritation. If there was one thing she didn't like (much), it would be Blitzo giving her fatherly affection and giving her displays of affection. Yes, the hellhound is a girl that liked to keep to herself and not share her feelings. The leader of this assassination company noticed Cody hiding behind Luna's leg. "Oh. Hello. Who's the kid, Loona?"
"Guys, this is Cody. I rescued him from a house fire, and... he was out cold. I couldn't leave him there all alone."
"Where's his parents?" asked Moxxie curiously.
Loona and Cody bowed their heads slightly and looked sad. "Oh." Blitzo said. He bent down and looked at the child. "Listen kid, I am very sorry. Really I am."
"You're... you're... not going to kill me or eat me, are you?"
"What? Why would we kill a kid?" asked Moxxie, with her and Millie walking up to the kid.
"Because you're demons, and my parents told me that demons are heartless monsters that love to kill people." Cody admitted.
"Well, don't be scared sweetie." said Millie. "We won't hurt you." she bent down and reached her right hand to him. The human child looked at Loona and she nodded a yes, telling him that he has nothing to worry about. These imps were rather slightly taller than him, but rather shorter than Loona, who was probably as tall as Bigfoot or a little shorter than Bigfoot. These imps looked at tall as short teenagers or big kids in the sixth grade.
Cody reached out one hand and felt Millie hugged her. "I'm really sorry about your parents, sweetie-pie."
"Yeah, me too."
"I'm glad Loona found you kid. Wait, isn't that my shirt your wearing?" Blitzo noticed
"Blitz!" Loona scolded him. "His clothes were covered with soot. Let him have this."
"Oh. Sorry. I was just surprised."
"I did take a shower." Cody said.
"Oh. Good." Blitzo said.
"So these guys are Millie, Moxxie, and Blitzo." Loona said.
"Pleasure to meet you, Cody." said Moxxie. "Are you ok?"
"Well, I'm sad my parents are... you know."
"Well, at least you are alright, Cody." said Moxxie. "I say you're lucky to be still alive."
"Yeah, very lucky." Millie added.
"And unlike Moxxie, I am the cool one."
Moxxie had an extremely irritated look on his face, and scowled. "Seriously, sir? Do you always take pleasure in tormenting me or picking on me?"
"Actually yes. Yes I do." Blitzo smiled.
"There are other people to pick on you know. Why not pick on other demons for a change?" Moxxie pointed. "There are plenty of imps around here that are dying to be picked on by your snarky attitude.
"Perhaps. But it's hard to find demons as retarded as you."
"Oh you don't know how close you are, you know that? You don't know."
"Oooh, like making it a bondage party?" Blitzo continued teasing him
"What's bondage?" asked Cody
The demons and hellhound blushed and Millie said: "Oh... it's nothing." she sounded rather sheepish. "Sorry, it's nothing you should worry about. But they're just teasing each other."
"Yeah, it's... adult stuff." Loona admitted. "Mox, Blitz, why don't you try and... keep it outside of work or when Cody's not here, OK?"
"Right. Sorry." Blitzo said
"Got it." Moxxie added
"So you guys kill people?"
"Only when clients pay us to." said Millie. "Yeah we're demons, but we're not heartless. Demons actually do have hearts. But we're not mindless monsters who just cause mayhem every time we feel like it."
"Yeah, what kind of things do your parents tell you about demons?"
"That you never feel any love or kindness at all. That I should stay away from you at all times, and carry a cross with me just in case." Cody admitted.
The three demons laughed at what he said, and Loona said: "Oh come on. 'Never feel kindness'? That's crazy talk. Many demons here were once human that got screwed over by someone when they were alive and became demons overtime. believe me, demons are capable of feeling kindness or love. Don't worry Cody, nothing bad will happen to you here. Sure Pax is one thing, but it's just instinct. He won't try to eat you again."
"OK. But I should probably have this with me just in case." he pulled out a golden cross from his back pocket with a carving depicting Jesus dead on it, making the other demons gasp back away slowly.
"Whoa! Oh!" Blitzo exclaimed.
"Looks like his parents were catholic or mormon." said Millie.
"Well, i'm sure that a cross won't be necessary here, Cody." Loona said. "Really, you'll be safe with me."
"Ok, Ok. didn't mean to scare you guys."
"No, it's ok." said Moxxie. "Ah, who are we kidding. angels from heaven come here many times to kill some demons for hell's overpopulation control."
"Yeah, it's not that big of deal." Millie added
"I didn't know that happens in Heaven." Cody said
"Believe me, Cody." Blitzo said. "It does, and it is such a pain having those exorcists come down here from god to keep the population stable. But you don't have to worry about that. Anywho, come have a seat. You can sit next to Loona if you want."
Cody smiled and he knew he felt safer with Loona since she saved him from the fire. He did just that, and sat next to Loona on the chair. The only thing showing was mostly his head and neck. "Here, let me fix the chair for you, kiddo." Loona kindly lifted the handle under the chair to raise it's height, so that everyone can see the child more clearly.
"Tell us about yourself, Cody." said Moxxie
"Well, my parents are Christian, but we're not that extreme. My mom just gave me that cross so i would be protected from demons. She was attacked by a demon when she was as old as me."
"Really?" said Millie
"That's quite a story to tell." Loona said
"But I love rock, metal, and almost all music."
"Ooh, I'm starting to like you already." said Blitzo.
"What music do you hate?" asked Millie
"Pop, rap, hip-hop, some country music. But I hate Taylor Swift, Cardi B, and all those stupid artists and their autotune voices."
The other demons laughed, and Moxxie said. "Us too. We hate those cruddy pop artists. They're probably not music at all. But we will take rock and metal over that so-called music any day... when our boss is not singing so loudly in the van."
"Oh bite me, Moxxie."
"You. bite me, hooker!"
"OK ok. Easy guys." Millie intervened. "There is a boy present."
