Gratitude
Akira could never know quite what to expect with Hikaru, ever since their first meeting. He could never be quite sure of himself when he was with Hikaru, either. So when a routine fight over one of their games had ended in a kiss, clumsy and inelegant and nearly painful, he shouldn't have been surprised. But he was. Hikaru had given him a confused look and they'd both agreed to ignore that it had ever happened.
Akira should have known it would be useless. The kiss stayed on his mind and he thought himself in circles about it for weeks. Even when Hikaru seemed to have forgotten all about the whole thing like they had agreed to. He made a new resolution to forget then, it was really as simple as that, and with a little determination he knew he could have.
And it had been simple. Just not that way. Hikaru had kissed him again, intentionally but still inelegant and messy, and had blushed and stammered about nothing and everything at all. Only a Go player could understand how babbling about stones and hands and rivals was romantic. Akira has been a Go player all his life. He had shut Hikaru up with another kiss anyway. Some things don't need to be said.
It has been quite some time since then and things have been predictably unpredictable. Akira doesn't mind, never has really. He's glad for Hikaru even if the other brings chaos into his life. Even when Hikaru tells him about this ghost, Sai, who had, knew, Hikaru in a way he never could. So when Hikaru asks worriedly if he's jealous Akira shakes his head and gives in to an impulsive hug.
He is, a little, but with his rival, his lover, in his arms it doesn't matter in the least. Sai brought Hikraru to Go, to him, and he's never been more grateful to anyone in his entire life. So he kisses Hikaru, years of practice making things smooth and comfortable, and whispers a thank you in his mind to the ghost he'd chased once by mistake.
Thank you, Sai. For everything.
