Somber: Sasuke
"What are you doing here?"
His lip tilted upward at the corner, as he closed his eyes and leaned onto the open doorway. "I can't come to see you?"
"Don't you have a wife to run home to?" she snipped. Not even bothering to glance back at him, she brushed a few loose strands of hair across her shoulder and stiffened in surprise when his hand caught her own midair. Turning her head abruptly, she scowled immediately at the amusement within his one visible, onyx color eye. The flickering flame of the candle nearby shifted the shadows upon his face, and she huffed angrily at herself when she felt a heady warmth rush to her very core. "I don't appreciate you coming here anymore, Sasuke."
Allowing her hand to slip away when she yanked it from his grasp, Sasuke chuckled lightly at the way she hissed his name before pressing a firm, quick kiss to her cheek. "You know I couldn't stay away from you even if I tried, Ka-go-me." His fingers skimmed across the barely noticeable bump within her midsection, though there was little he could do to keep her from avoiding his grasp entirely with only one good arm left. Catching her by the arm before she fell and hurt herself trying to escape him was easy enough, though. He smiled at the way she batted him away then, as he softly said, "Especially now."
Kagome bit her lip, before she turned just enough to glare at him out of the corner of her eye. Her cerulean orbs were so dark that they were nearly black within the dim lighting. Wrinkling her nose, she snapped, "I don't need you to be here, thank you very much. I'm perfectly capable of raising my child alone."
The faint traces of a laugh falling from his lips, the Uchiha noticed the way she tensed when his bangs fell to one side with the subtle movement and revealed the Rinnegan hidden there.
"Don't you dare," she hissed, placing her hands protectively over her unborn child. "Haven't you already done enough by… by lying to me this whole time?"
"Kagome…" Sasuke whispered, reaching for her once again. "You know I would never…"
"No!" Ignoring the way his brow creased with subtle lines of regret that cast a shadow across those hauntingly beautiful mismatched eyes, Kagome slapped away his hand and looked away with a shake of her head. "You don't get to come here and say that after you… you manipulated me. You used me. You…!"
"Ever since the first time I saw you, I knew… I can't stay away from you. I need to be with you. You know that." Sasuke sighed lightly with the soft confession, before adding, "I'll always choose you, Kagome. You and our child. I'll always be here, even if you push me away."
"...just… go…" Unable to stop the sudden onslaught of tears that those words provoked, she felt them begin to cascade across the swell of her cheek and drip into the folds of her yukata. "Please, Sasuke, just…"
His lips brushed against her ear, as he whispered, "I love you."
"...please…"
Sasuke slowly placed his hand on her own atop her protruding stomach, before he sighed longingly. "I'll go… for now," he told her. His hand lifting to wipe away the lines of moisture on her face, he used his fingers to keep her from flinching away completely when he pressed another quick kiss to her temple. "Try to rest while I'm gone, okay? Stress isn't good for the baby."
Nodding despite herself to somewhat appease him, Kagome hiccuped, "O… o-kay."
"I'll be back soon," he promised.
Her inky, blue tinted locks fell around her as she shook them. Listening to the sound of his feet softly gliding across the floor, Kagome bowed her head when she finally heard the snap of the door that signalled his departure. Her fingers tightened within the fabric barely concealing her pregnancy, as she tried to reign in the wayward tears. The awful ache in her heart only made it worse, though, because she knew that even if he was lying again, about everything…
...she was still in love with him, and it hurt worse than anything he had ever lied about.

Note: Sorry, guys, my brain has died for the last couple weeks and I've been just staring listlessly at everything I've tried to write until this popped up. Once it kicks itself back into gear, though, I'll have so many things to update and post that I have managed to write most of. Haha. -Kiba
