These kind of words struck Cody from these three cherubs, or former-cherubs now. "wait, you guys know my parents? are they up there? you know, heaven? Please tell me they're ok."

"Cody, don't listen to them." Loona gently urged him. "They don't know anything."

"But, they're angels. I just want to know-"

"Look, we don't know for sure." said Cletus. Thanks to those IMP demons, we got banished from entering Heaven again. It was probably before your parents pushed up daisies."

Cody frowned and looked down. "Oh. I see."

"Look, why would you hang out with these loathsome beasts, sweetie?" asked Keenie. "She is a demon. Demons are nothing but evil, foul monsters that people dread on."

"Demons are nothing but scummy vermin and lowlifes."

Loona growled, taking offense to that, and said: "believe me when I say: I saved Cody because I didn't want him to die."

"A child like him belongs to heaven to be happy with God for all eternity." said Collin. "The lake of fire is no place for him to spend the afterlife."

"Please stop fighting." Cody urged them. He looked at the cherubs again and asked: "can you guys show me my parents?"

Loona couldn't help but give him a sympathetic look, knowing that the boy still missed his deceased parents. Ultimately, Cletus was the one to answer his plea, and he answered to him plainly: "unfortunately, no. Besides, our purpose as Cherubs is to save people from dying."

Cody frowned and looked down. "OK."

"But we can try to get you to heaven." Collin admitted. "Perhaps if we can try to reach out to the lord himself, you can see your parents."

A sudden look of hope appeared on Cody's face. "Come on, you can't fall for this crud, Cody. They're fallen angels now."

"No thanks to you!" said Cletus, pointing his baby finger at Loona. "No you kidnapped a poor child here to suffer in hell?"

"No, no, I'm not suffering." Cody admitted. "Loona is very nice to me. She gave me a place to stay and she's a demon. She felt sorry for me after my parents died in a fire, and helped me."

"A demon feeling sorry for a human?" said Keenie in disbelief. "Likely story."

"Since when does a demon care about a human being?" asked Collin

"I care!" Loona growled. "God, what has he been telling you? All good demons are dead demons?"

"Actually, yes." said Cletus. "Before we got banished, our lord said to trust no demons at all."

"There is more to us than meets the eye, you pious dips- i mean morons." Loona stated. "Besides, you guys aren't so perfect either."

"But we're angels. We're supposed to he purified." said Keenie.

"Piss!" Loona exclaimed. "the guy didn't want to live anymore and you tried to get him to live again."

"Well suicide is a sin!" said Collin. "What kind of an example would we be if we let a man die like that!?"

"Newsflash, shrimp." said Loona. "You can't save everyone."

"Ok, ok!" Cody said. "Please just stop fighting. Look, I'm hungry, I need to eat breakfast. Maybe some breakfast would clear my head. And... look," he pulled out what appeared to be a Hostess cupcake from his pocket. "Any of you guys want this? I mean, it's the least I can do."

"Oh, don't give them anything." Loona said. "Cody, you can't buy all what they're saying."

"I'm not." Cody admitted. "I'm just trying to he nice at least."

"That's very kind of you," said Cletus, looking touched. "But we don't want it."

"Are you sure?" asked Cody.

"Yes." said Keenie. "As a matter of fact, we were going to buy ourselves some breakfast at the diner. I mean, there are still many good people that took pity on us and gave us some spare change while begging."

"You sure?" asked Cody

"Absolutely." said Cletus. "As a matter of fact, there's other places to eat at besides that place. The last thing we want is to be in the same building with any unholy, unclean demons!"

Loona just rolled her eyes and gave a right middle finger to the former cherubs. "Whatever. Come on Cody, we don't need this."

"Sure. let's go." the boy nodded his head before holding Loona's hand back to the diner. "Sorry about that, Loona."

"No, no, no need to be sorry." Loona said, ebtly patting his left shoulder. "But never trust those cherubs. Those little twerps are bad news. Not trying to make yyou turn evil or anything. I'm just saying that: they are pompous snobs who think they are better than everyone else. Cherubs mostly care about themselves, trust me."

"OK."

before heading back to the town, Loona turned back to her human disguise so she wouldn't cause a panic or an uproar.

"Well, they probably wouldn't help me see my parents anyway." the kid decided to brush it off.

"Nope. I wouldn't count on it. Like they said, they got banished from heaven because they accidentally killed a man. Besides the man they wanted to kill was a jackass. Experimenting on the poor and not caring about anyone else."

"Oh."

At last, they made it back to the diner and they were greeted by Dave and Selma once more. "Ah, Cody. Is everything ok now?" asked Dave curiously while giving some plates to his lover.

"Yeah. I'm fine."

Both of them sat at the booth and ordered some Belgian waffles with butter and syrup, and orange juice as a beverage. Normally, Loona would buy some whiskey, beer, vodka, bourbon, or any other kind of alcohol she would want to get wasted with, but she didn't want Cody to be uncomfortable, and she worried she might make a scene being drunk (like how foolish and fucking silly Blitzo was while he was drink a little earlier). They ate their food after and it was a nice breakfast for both of them to enjoy. "Hope y'all enjoyed your breakfast." said Selma. "You are both more than welcome to come and eat here any time."

"Thanks, I guess." Loona said flatly before giving them a ten dollar bill to pay off the breakfast. "Hope this covers it."

"It most certainly does." said Dave wholeheartedly. "Nice meeting you, Loona."

"Whatever." Loona sighed.

"Oh you're such a delight!" said Selma.

As soon as that was done, Cody was happy to have a decent breakfast. "So Loona, should we worry about those Cherubs?"

"Nah, they fell from grace, which means they are powerless."

"Yeah. I mean, I would be worried about Verosika and her friends."

"No, you shouldn't worry about them either. You got me and the guys to help you with that problem." Loona reassured him, gently patting his back. "Speaking of which, I think Blitzo is still drunk. Probably don't want to see that."

"Not really. People do weird things when they are drunk."

"You are definitely not wrong, kiddo." Loona chuckled. "Never thought I would say this, but let's pop into to Moxxie and Millie's place."

"Good idea." they got into a back alley so no one would see them go back to Hell, and when they returned to Blitzo's apartment, they see him still sleeping on the floor in a really awkward manner. "He doesn't look so good, Loona." Cody admitted, pointed his right finger.

"he'll be fine. He's done this many times before. Fair warning, he is going to get a bad migraine in the morning."

Cody couldn't help but chuckle. He then asked: "So, are you sure those cherubs wouldn't help me see my parents? I know I shouldn't think about it too much."

Loona sighed and said: "Come on, If they would be able to show you your parents, then they would get you up there to heaven, or create some kind of magic to revive them."

"Yeah. I guess. I should just think about something else."

"There you go, Cody." said Loona, bending down and placing a gentle hand on Cody's right shoulder. "I promise to protect you from anything that would try to hurt you." Those words made Cody smile warmly and gratefully.
