Cody was nervous and walking down a few hallways, he noticed many kids around his age looking surprised to see him (maybe because they thought he died from the fire along with his parents).
"Cody?" said a female voice. It was a Caucasian girl around Cody's age woth long blonde hair
"Claire?" Cody recognized her. "Nice to see you again. A couple of other kids were with her as well, probably up to six of them.
"We thought you were... you know..." Claire admitted
"Dead?" Cody raised he left eyebrow.
"Yes." Tyler said, next to her. "But I know I've talked to you on the phone a few days ago."
"Are you ok?" said a girl named Molly.
"I'm fine. I'm just... glad I'm not dead like my parents." he slightly turned away. Many of these kids gave him a sympathetic look on his face.
Tyler walked up to him and said: "We're really sorry about what happened."
"Thanks, Tyler. But it wasn't your fault." Cody remarked, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"So where do you live?" a boy named Hugh asked.
Cody was silent and knew that if he told his friends that he now lives in Hell with a dog-like demon, they would probably think he is just crazy. They might never believe him unless Loona or the demons showed themselves to them.
Alas, if that happened, there would be a case of mass hysteria in this town, and the kids would be running around and screaming at the top of their lungs in panic.
Being that the United States' mist common religion is Christianity, it wouldn't be surprising if demons are looked down upon human beings as shitty monsters that are to be avoided at all times, and Cody would possibly be looked at as the "Antichrist" of some sort. The last thing he wanted was; him being public enemy number one in his own homeland because of him associating with a bunch of friendly demons he made friends with and being called an Antichrist, because that peculiar person would be every human being's worst nightmare, something Rosemary's Baby.
"Cody?" said another boy who was fat and had a buzzcut with a jockey jacket. The metal-loving kid realized he had to come up with some kind of excuse, and he didn't really like to lie, but this was for his own protection, and Loona, and his friends' protection
"I was... I was saved in the fire by a very cool, beautiful woman." he admitted. "I was about to die in the fire when she just came in my burning house to save me." he slightly looked away to the right again. "I was unconscious from breathing in all that smoke, and I woke up in her room where she nursed me back to health. My parents... were not very lucky." he felt like crying in missing his beloved parents once more. He kept it together and added: "So, I live with her now. Loona is a really cool girl.
"Can we come over to your house some time?" asked Tyler.
That question gave Cody a panicked and worried look on his face and blurted out "No!" but he calmed down after realizing he was a little abrupt in that response he just made. "I mean, it's not the best house to see. Loona is... complicated and she doesn't really like visitors. But I can still come over to your guys' houses if you want."
His own friends were confused by his sudden weird behavior. "okay then." said Molly, looking a little confused. She and the other kids around her looked confused as well, but they had to be content with this. After all, they were all just happy to see him again and glad he didn't die in the fire. They all heard the bell rang and it meant that class is going to be in session in a few minutes. Cody happily walked to Miss Stacey's classroom, whom was very happy to see him before.
"Cody! It's so wonderful to see you back in class again." said the teacher, walking up to him. "Come have a seat in front of my desk."
"Sure Miss Stacey." the kid took the stool in front of the teacher desk and they began to talk to one another
"So Cody, if there is any problem here at all, never be afraid to come talk to me, or Mr. Brock if something is bothering you at all. And are you feeling OK?"
"Uh-huh. And I'll be just fine, Miss S. I just need to get back in the swing of things here at school, and catch up on missing work when I wasn't here."
"That's the spirit, sweetie." said the kind teacher. "So, have a seat at your usual chair before." as soon as the bell rang, class was no in session and Cody was ready to catch up on missing work. "OK kids," said Miss Stacey at the front of the room, "For those of you who thought Cody was... you know, he isn't. He survived the fire, and bless our hearts that he is ok." Many of the kids looked at him surprised, except for Tyler, Claire, Molly, and other kids who saw him before hitting the classroom. "So, please be extra nice to him everyone. He's... been through so much recently."
Being a teacher she was, she began teaching the kids about the marine biologist: Jacques Cousteau in their work book and the accomplishments. After the next hour, Stacey began teaching them about the geography of the world (countries, types of biomes of the world, etc,), and they all hit lunch when it was noon. Cody ate some chicken nuggets and then hit off to recess, where he was confronted by someone. This person was not very friendly, and he had black hair which was short. "Well, look who it is." said the kid. He was the same size as Cody and he had the look of a troublemaker on him.
Young Cody just scowled and rolled his eyes at the kid. "Oh great, Bruce."
"I thought you were dead Cody." the kid looked a little smug. He walked up to him in something like he had swag in him, like some kind of greaser. "Thought you... died in the fire."
"Leave me alone, Bruce." said Cody, looking away."
"What's the matter? Not happy to see me, Cody? You're old pal Bruce?"
"you're not my pal. You're never even my friend to begin with!"
"Why do you think I was being sarcastic, you moron?" Bruce sounded rather mean now. "At least my parents are still alive, and yours are probably dead right now. So poor you." he sneered at the kid. Cody felt like crying and just walked away
"What's wrong? You scared you chicken?"
The kid just walked away and didn't say anything.
"You think you can just walk away?" Bruce called out as Cody was walking farther away from him now. "This isn't over you loser!" A tear ran down Cody's left eye, and this kid was clearly a bully towards him, and possibly other kids as well. He was trying so hard to be strong from getting picked on by Bruce, and Cody went back to the classroom of Miss Stacey so he wouldn't have to put up with the mean kid's shitty attitude at recess.
"Ah Cody, there you are."
"Hey Miss Stacey." said Cody.
"Are you ok?"
"Bruce was picking on me."
"Bruce?" looking angry and peeved at hearing about bullying, and said: "Well, i will be sure to let Mr. Brock know of this behavior. He already got suspended from school three times, and if this keeps up, we'll have to expel him."
"Well, I came in here to work on the stuff I missed since the fire."
"Of course. Just get as much done as you can, and the rest you can do as homework, ok?"
"Sure." As Cody got in a desk of the now empty classroom, he began doing some work on the stuff he missed. At last, the bell rang thirty minutes later and he had to move on to a new subject.
Later on, class was over, and Cody was glad to get some schoolwork done. Alas, he couldn't complete it all in one setting during lunch, because he's been out of school for a little while now. He waited for Loona to come pick him up, and stood next to the tree from this morning. He waited exactly five minutes and waited for the hellhound to come pick him and, and bring him back to hell. Suddenly, he felt two hands gently cover his eyes, and was a little startled. "Guess who?" sang a very familiar voice that he knew too well.
"Oh. Loona, it's you." he turned around and revealed her human form.
"Sorry, couldn't help it."
"It's ok. Let's go someplace where no one will look."
"Got it."
"Well, well, well, here he is now." said a kid's voice. It was Bruce again, and five mean-looking boys were backing him up. "We have some unfinished business to take care of, Cody."
"No we don't." said Cody, glaring."
"Who's this twerp?"
"Bruce. A mean boy who thinks he's better than everyone else because his dad is a rapper."
"Duh, I am better than everyone else." said the bully. "So come over here so we can discuss business." his cronies cracked their knuckles, and looking evil.
Loona growled and was about to go all feral, and she said: "You little shitheads get out of here right now, or I will break all of your necks, and I promise it will hurt."
"Ooh, you're a beautiful lady." said Bruce. "So sexy and gorgeous." he even blew an air-kiss at her.
The hellhound (in her human disguise of course growled with hatred and had an idea. "Hey, how would you boys like a kiss?"
These boys except for Cody looked excited and were ready. Loona came up to them, knelt down and before they all knew it, Loona went behind one of the more muscular boys and held his arms in a lock before a crunching noise was heard.
"Dash!" said Bruce. He himself felt his fingers being forcibly pulled by Loona and a smaller crunch sound was heard. She broke three of Bruce's fingers, making him howl in pain.
"Now get the fuck out of here before I rip your throats out you little shit!" Loona growled.
These bullies were scared off with Bruce yelling: "holy shit!"
"Let's get out of here!" the one with the broken arm exclaimed.
"Thanks Loona." said Cody.
"You're welcome." Loona smiled. "So you wanna get something to eat?"
"Panda sounds good."
"Cool. let's go." They went to a nearby Panda express restaurant and got some Chinese takeout before heading back to Hell.
"Ooh! Chinese!" said Blitzo as he noticed Cody and Loona step through the portal. "Hell yeah! give me some of that Chow mein!"
"Cool your jets, Blitzo." Loona sighed.
They all sat together and Loona turned back to her hellhound form. "So Cody, how was school?"
"It was good. Everyone was nice to me, except for one kid and his friends. His name is Bruce and he is mean."
"But i broke three of his fingers and one of his friends' arms." Loona smirked. "You should have seen them crying."
"Oh ho, that's my girl!" Blitzo sounded really proud of her and felt like hugging her. "Come here, you-"
"No hugs!" Loona blurted. "I told you i hate being touched."
"Oh, i can't hug you, but it's okay for the kid here?"
"Hey, Cody is a special kid." said Loona. "and... believe it or not... I actually grew to like him more."
"Thanks." Cody looked flattered.
"Come on, i adopted you."
"But you embarass me." Loona rolled her eyes again.
"When have i ever embarrassed you, Loony?"
"Oh, let's see... Since always, you dumbass!"
