Charlie and her family were quite charming, though Cody was quite intimidated by Satan since he is the Lord of Evil. Alas, Satan was taking rather a liking to him. "So Cody," said Satan, walking with the boy and his family since Charlie was done with the little tour of her abode for him. "Do you like it down here?"
"Well... more or less." Cody admitted. "I can't believe i just said that."
The lord of evil couldn't help but laugh. "You're not the only one to say that, child. As long as you do not do something to anger me, or do anything blasphemous against me, then we'll get along just fine."
"Well, I'm sure he'll be just fine down here, dad." said Charlie. As her parents walked ahead of her, she stopped and gently grabbed Cody by his shoulder.
"What's going on here?" asked Cody, a little confused.
"Listen, if anything bad happens, you can always come to me." Charlie said. "Or my mom."
"Loona said the same."
"I know. But... she doesn't rule Hell."
"True." Cody admitted.
"If my dad ever tries to hurt you or torture you, I will do everything I can to stop him." she sounded more quiet saying those words.
"Everything alright back there?" asked Lilith.
"Coming mom! Sorry." Charlie called out as she and Cody caught up to the rulers.
in the throne room, there was Loona and the others waiting, with Loona walking up to her human friend. "Are you ok, Cody?"
"Just fine, Loona. They didn't hurt me."
"Good." said the female hellhound in relief.
"Don't worry, he was in good hands, and I think he is cool." Charlie smiled. "If there is ever a party, I can always invite him over."
"If that happens," said Loona, "At least let me go with him, and I don't even care if Hellhounds are low on the pyramid."
"Ooh, the more the merrier." said Charlie. she sounded excited. "I can tell you really care about him."
"yeah. I do admittedly." said Loona.
"Wait a minute, it wouldn't be a good idea for our image to invite a hellhound to-"
"Come on, dad!" Charlie begged
"OK! OK! whatever makes you happy, Charlie." Satan gave in.
Smiling gratefully at her father, Charlie turned back to Loona and couldn't help but ask: "So Loona, what made you save Cody that day?"
"He was in trouble, I heard him scream for someone to save him."
"Oh I know, I know." Charlie pointed, "but why would-"
"Don't ask questions you're not prepared to know the answer to." Loona interrupted her.
Charlie looked a little confused, but had to be content with that response. "Well OK. it was so nice meeting you, Cody."
"Nice meeting you too, princess."
"You don't have to be formal around me. Just call me Charlie." said she. At last, the company was free to go and they all went back home. Cody just sat on the couch to play some more video games and have fun with them.
Turns out: the meeting with the dark lord wasn't so bad after all, and it went better than expected. At least he didn't eat the boy or anything. He even found himself another friend in high places if he need her help.
That Lilith wasn't really anything like Stella at all, and she wasn't really a stuck-up snob like Stolas' dead wife was. Loona couldn't help but sit next to him with two glasses of iced lemonade in her hands. One for her, and one for the kid.
"You want this, Cody?"
Pausing the game, Cody looked at her with a smile. "Thanks Loona. I would like some." He took a long sip of his lemonade and placed it on the coffee table.
"So how do you feel?"
"I feel... better." Cody said. "Satan kinda sounds... interesting."
"He's one of a kind, isn't he?" Loona rolled her eyes. "But he's the overlord of Hell, and he can do whatever he wants."
"Yeah. But I'm just glad he didn't eat me."
"Me too. But I'm sure he wouldn't eat you anyway."
"I know. So I didn't mean to keep you guys waiting back there."
"Don't worry about it." said Blitzo, making some spaghetti. "I was trying to mingle with Baphomet anyway."
"Until Baphomet kept on throwing Blitzo to keep him away many times."
"Blitzo... I don't mean to sound rude, but... you're weird sometimes."
"It's better to be weird than to be Moxxie, Cody. If you're not weird, it's boring." Blitzo said. "Besides, many famous people now and throughout history have done some weird habits." he dug in the fridge to fetch himself some bourbon. "You want a bottle, Loony?"
"Yep, whiskey me."
Blitzo tossed the bottle towards Loona and the hellhound promptly caught it in her right hand, taking a few sips of it. "That is good stuff." she remarked. She sat next to him, and asked: "So you met Lilith, the queen, how did it go?"
"She liked me." Cody said. "Like Charlie does. She gave me this book to read."
"Well, that's nice." said Loona.
"The queen of Hell is rather... good with kids." Blitzo pointed. "Considering the fact that she has a daughter."
"No kidding." Cody pointed. A knock on the door was heard again, and Cody couldn't help but hide behind the couch. "Who is that?" he asked
"Calm down, i'm sure it's probably nothing." said Loona. She answered it and looked displeased and unamused to see her two coworkers in the office. "Oh, it's you midgets again." she rolled her eyes again and stood aside to let them both in, despite disliking them.
"Hello Loona." Moxxie rolled his eyes back, not looking very happy to see his rival either. However, he was happy to see the kid over the sofa. "Hi Cody." said Moxxie. "Are you doing ok?"
"Yep. Just fine, Moxxie.
"We just wanted to say hello and make sure you weren't... you know... not so scarred after meeting Lucifer." Millie said
"Well, I'm fine, so don't worry." Cody said. "I can't tell if Satan likes me or not. Maybe Charlie and Lilith do, but I don't know about Lucifer himself."
"Best to just stay out of his way for now." Moxxie said.
"I agree." said Millie. "So we were wondering if you would like to come see our apartment."
"Yeah, just thought we would show you it. We tried to tell you, but Baphomet came and... you know." said Moxxie.
Cody smiled and said: "Sure, I can do that. Where is it?"
"Not that far. Just ten blocks from here." Millie said.
"I hope he'll be in good hands." Loona narrowed her eyes.
"Yes, he'll be fine." Moxxie crossed his arms. "Don't you at least trust us with him, Loona?"
The female hellhound had an unsure look and said: "Do i have to be honest with you guys?"
"Cute." Millie had her eyes narrowed and her mouth was as flat as a tightrope. She had a change of demeanor from an unamused look to her usual, perky smile. "So Cody, you ready to come with us? Our... Mox, what's the right word to put it?"
"Chateau?"
"Yeah! Chateau, might not be much, but you might like it."
"OK." the boy went out of Loona and Blitzo's flat and walked with his two acquaintances. Of course he liked Loona so much, but Moxxie and Millie liked him a great deal as well, for they both helped Loona save him from Stella and Martha and her deranged family of fucked up psychos. Cody really remembered the wise words that Charlie mentioned to him every demon has a rainbow inside of them. Every time he heard those words in his brain, the more comfort he was having. Although, he couldn't help but wonder about those exorcist angels that Charlie accidentally spilled.
"So how was it with princess Charlie?" asked Moxxie.
"Fun. She was nice. But it's kinda scary being around the king of this dimension."
"Ugh, I agree." said Millie. "He is the most powerful demon of all time. Stolas would just die trying in killing him."
"But with no King of Hell, who would keep order down here."
"The actual kind of order?" Cody asked "or your definition of order?"
Both Moxxie and Millie laughed and Millie said: "I think we all know the answer to that."
While walking down a few streets, Cody couldn't help but ask them: "Guys... Charlie said that there's a group of angels called exorcists that-"
"Exorcists!?" a small group of demons exclaimed in pure fear before running inside a nearby cafe so they wouldn't have to deal with these rather sinister angels. Some other demons ran away in horror hearing the name. By the looks of their faces, and how they reacted, those Exorcists seem to leave quite a number of nightmare fuel for these demons. Cody looked confused, and looked at Moxxie and Millie, looking rather mortified as well.
"The exorcists?" said Moxxie. "Why would Charlie tell you about them?"
"She wasn't supposed to." said Cody. "It slipped out of her by talking so much."
"Oh. Well, you don't have to worry about them." Millie pointed
"All you have to do is just lock yourself inside the house until they leave." Moxxie said. "And I think me and Millie can take them."
"And if they try to hurt you, then they'll have to deal with us." Millie added. "I will get my battle-ax ready if they lay one little claw on ya."
"Thanks guys. But what if they overpower you?"
"Cody, it's ok." said Moxxie. "We'll be fine. You don't have to worry about us. We are professional assassins after all." he gently patted the kid's head, giving him reassurance. Indeed, they are the Immediate Murder Professionals after all.
They made it to a small building with two stories in between larger buildings. The window closest to the door had wooden planks covered over it like a crime scene. Almost all the windows had been broken, except for the middle one on the second floor for an unknown reason. It gave the boy an uncomfortable feeling since he probably knew that this place was not going to be perfect. Yet again, Blitzo and Loona's apartment wasn't so perfect either. nearly every building down here in Imp city
"Here we are, Cody." said Moxxie before opening the door of the building. It was not a very pleasant odor once Cody set foot inside, but he was glad it didn't smell like shit.
There was a broken sofa down a corridor and a small line of furniture together in another like they were trying to renovate the place or someone has been evicted from the premises.
"Where's your apartment?"
"Just the top floor." Millie said. "We just take the stairs."
"Yeah, there's no need for an elevator for a two-story building."
"Nope." Moxxie agreed. He opened the door after unlocking it with a key under the welcome matt. The place actually looked rather nice than most places he would expect it to be. The living room wallpaper had musical notes on it, and the couch looked rather nice.
"You can watch a little TV if you want, sweetie." said Millie.
"Sure." Cody did just that and he found himself watching 666 news which showed Stolas being interviewed by a reporter.
"Can you tell us if you miss Stella at all?" asked the reporter
"I do not miss her one bit. She was always such a cunt. She only married me out of royalty and not love." the prince of Hell replied. "Of course, she was my daughter's mother, so I cannot just badmouth her so much."
"Crumbs." said Moxxie. "Glad we took care of her, right Millie?"
"Well duh!" Millie agreed. "She was going to kill Cody."
"No she wasn't." Cody pointed.
"Oh right." Millie remembered. "It's been a little while since that happened."
"So how long have you guys lived here?" asked Cody curiously.
"One year." Moxxie pointed. "As long as me and Millie were married."
"Cool."
Cody was reading some comic books with Patrick the Pig sitting next to him back in Loona's place. School starts tomorrow for him, and he couldn't wait to finish all of the work that he had missed when he was gone.
He heard Loona come in and sit next to him. "Are you doing ok, Cody?"
"I'm fine, Loona."
"So how was it with Moxxie and Millie's place?"
"Not too bad. But their bed had some white stains on them, and I don't know what they are. I asked them, but Moxxie said it was paint."
Loona blushed and looked embarrassed.
"But i know people don't really paint their bed. That's just stupid. I was wondering if you known what they are."
"Here's the truth." Loona blushed some more before answering: "It was milk. Millie's a farm girl and she's a milkaholic."
"Ohhh. I get it." It was quiet for a few moments, but Cody asked: "So Loona, if you don't want to talk about it, I'm fine with it. But... what were your parents like?"
Loona looked surprised and was silent. "Well... yeah, like you said. I don't like to talk about it. I'm better off without them." she turned away. I was way too cool for them, that's all I can say."
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked you that."
"No, no, it's fine. Blitzo would ask me that all the time. I would just tell him it's none of his business."
"I may not know him like you do," Cody admitted. "But, he can he pretty nosy."
"Ugh. Tell me about it. Sometimes, he won't get off my back for one minute." she crossed her arms and looked annoyed. "But i guess i wouldn't be what i am today if not for him. I was almost eighteen when he adopted me.
"Wow."
"Yeah i know. It sounds weird."
"Ever thought of having a place of your own?"
"Heh, all the time. I love my privacy."
"And what about me?"
"Of course i would take you with you with me, Cody." Loona assured him. "I know i haven't said this to you before, but... I love you."
Cody was really flattered and said: "Thanks Loona. And i wouldn't still be alive right now if not for you saving me."
"Ah, come here," she pulled him in for a hug. "I swear by the name of Satan. I will always protect you and look after you any way i can."
