George hates cooking grilled salmon, but he knows that it's Alanna's favourite dish, so he always makes it for her whenever there's a special occasion. Birthday, Midwinter, coming home from a particularly tiring battle… you name it, and George has personally made grilled salmon for it, if only to see his Lioness smile whilst joking that he'll soon become the housewife of the family.

Alanna doesn't particularly like grilled salmon; there was a phase in her early twenties during which she fell madly in love with the dish, but she's been quite neutral about it for almost ten years. She doesn't tell George because he seems to take so much joy in making it for her, and she knows that he's trying to do something special. Besides, there are great jokes to be made about his feminine side.

Aglaia Stone, Pirate's Swoop's chief chef, is convinced that something is wrong with her way of cooking salmon. The baron and baroness both refuse to say so, but she's noticed that the Lioness only ever eats salmon prepared by the baron. Perhaps love does that to people.

Alanna hates the ground floor veranda, because there always seems to be a strong wind that blows dead leaves and dirt into her face, even when the veranda had been swept a mere few minutes earlier. George once remarked that he loves watching the sunset from that particular perspective, and this is the only reason Alanna hasn't yet knocked down said part of the castle.

George hates the ground floor veranda, because even though the sunset is quite stunning from that perspective, there's always such a huge wind. He used to enjoy dining there once in a while, but eventually got tired of picking mast out of his dinner. The only reason he still frequents it is because it's always Alanna's first choice, even though she complains a lot about the wind.

Maude usually loves caring for the children, but sometimes - especially around dinnertime - they get a little rowdy. Fortunately, the baron and baroness are not hard to find; in fact, every time they're not in the dining room, they've almost definitely decided to retreat to their ground floor veranda. This must be their favourite enclosed outdoor area in the castle, Maude thinks, though she has no idea why. It's always so windy there.

George hates it when Alanna goes away, and she knows it. He usually walks her to the castle walls at least, and once or twice he even rode some way with her, but he knows that she has to fight alone. That is, after all, what makes a Lioness.

Alanna hates it when George goes away, because it always seems to happen on the few days she gets to spend at home. She doesn't ever complain, because she knows how hypocritical it would seem. When George gets home from being away, she still checks his wounds from under lowered lashes while pouring tea.

Then they would eat on the ground floor veranda, picking mast out of their grilled salmon, and know that they are in love. After all, things that are said are things that make a couple happy; things left unsaid are things that make a couple.
