She must have fallen asleep outside on her balcony because when she opened her eyes it was darker outside and her phone was ringing. She reached for the phone not bothering to check who was calling her and didn't have any time to say hello before the person on the other side of the line started talking.
"Chloé, are you okay? I saw the news earlier and that clip of you falling."
When Chloé heard her sister's worried voice all her sleepiness disappeared and she sat straight up in the chair. She noticed that her back was hurting a bit, but she'd been sleeping in a chair, so it was expected.
"Am I alright?" Chloé asked as if it was some big joke her sister had told her. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. I'm just a bit shaken after seeing that clip on you falling. For a moment there I thought I was going to lose my little sister. But I'm so grateful that he got you."
Chloé didn't have to ask her sister who he had been, she knew who it was. A small smile spread on her lips as she remembered that he had saved her twice during that situation. But it must have been because he was the one closest to her and mostly because it was the reasons to the heroes of Paris existence, to be there for the citizens of Paris and help them in any way they can.
"So am I." Chloé finally said.
She quickly checked the screen on her phone to see if her sister were calling from her own phone or someone else. It was Zoé's name on her screen and Chloé felt a little bit hopeful by that.
"Are you back at the apartment?"
"Yes. I was released an hour ago and got back home just now." Zoé explained.
"That's great." Chloé said. "I didn't know you were sharing the apartment with Rose and Juleka."
Chloé didn't know why she mentioned it, but the moment she did she remembered that Zoé probably had told no one about her being sick and that made Chloé angry. She didn't want to yell at her sister or even berate her. But she had to do something to make Zoé understand that it's important to have people around her that knows she's sick and is able to help her.
"You went to my apartment?" Zoé asked.
"Yes, I did. I meet Rose and we had a conversation about you telling her you had the flu, something I assume is a lie?" Chloé said and tried to sound less angry than she felt, but knew that it was a failed attempt.
"I'm sorry. I know I should have been honest and told both you and them about the truth right away. I just didn't want to worry you and it felt that the more I talked about it, the more real it got. I didn't want to say anything because I don't want to be sick."
"I underst-"
"No, you don't and you never will unless you end up in the same position. I know you want what's best for me, but you trying to understand what I'm going through wont help me. Just be there for me and try to make me feel normal. Because I want to be normal again." Zoé explained.
Chloé took a deep breath and looked up at the sky above. There weren't any stars there that she could see, but she knew they were there. She exhaled before she decided to talk to her sister again.
"I guess you are right, and I'm sorry about that. I whish things where different... If you don't want to talk about your disease anymore I will try not to mention it." Chloé said and looked down.
"Thank you." Zoé said.
The sound of something falling down on the balcony made Chloé jump to her feet. For a moment she thought it was something that wanted to harm her, but as she turned around and noticed Ladybug standing a couple of feet away from her she knew she wasn't in any danger. Trouble maybe, but not danger.
"Can I maybe call you tomorrow and talk some more then?" Chloé asked her sister.
"Yeah, we can do that. Have a nice evening, sis." Zoé said and hung up before Chloé had a chance to say goodbye.
Chloé put her phone in her jeans pocket. She stood there in silence and waited for Ladybug to say something, but instead Ladybug just stood there and looked at Chloé as if she was trying to figure something out.
"Hello." Chloé finally said.
"What were you thinking?" Ladybug asked and decided to apparently go right to her reason being there and skip the greetings.
"I was thinking, hey, that look's like Chat Noir, let's go there and take a better look." Chloé said and made sure that her voice sounded annoyed as she spoke.
"You put yourself in danger, Chloé. Didn't you think about that?"
"You think Chat Noir is dangerous?" Chloé asked surprised.
"I trust Chat, and I know he wouldn't hurt an-"
"He was moments away from using his Cataclysm on me. If Viperion hadn't done something I wouldn't be standing here."
Ladybug shook her head and looked like she didn't want to believe the thing Chloé just told her. But Ladybug had been there herself and seen it with her own eyes. Of course they didn't know if it would have happened or not, but it could have and that should be enough proof for anyone.
Chloé didn't want to believe that Chat Noir really had turned to the side of the evil. But she had been there when it happened, when Chat had announced to everyone about his betrayal. It had broken Ladybug completely and for that Chloé couldn't help but feel a lot of anger toward Chat Noir.
Maybe he had his reasons, but whatever they were it wouldn't justify the decision he made that day. You don't leave your partner, someone you'd been through a lot with and go join your common enemy.
"As I said, I trust Chat. I don't know why he joined Hawk Moth's side. But I know my chaton and I know he wouldn't have done something like that unless it was personal. He still has his Miraculous and that means Hawk Moth must trust him."
"I guess that makes sense." Chloé said after a few seconds.
She didn't find it odd that Chat Noir had joined Hawk Moth and disappeared soon after. She had thought it meant that Chat had to give his Miraculous to Hawk Moth, and maybe he did? She didn't know and neither did Ladybug. The only thing they knew was that he had been gone for three years and that he showed up after all this time with his Miraculous still in his possession.
"You think Hawk Moth will return?" Chloé asked.
"I think so." Ladybug said.
"I really picked the best time to come back to Paris." Chloé muttered annoyed.
"But you are back?" Ladybug wondered.
"Yes." Chloé said and thought for a moment to tell her reasons, but decided not to.
For a moment Ladybug just stood there and seemed to think about something. She gave Chloé a long gaze before she reached for something and took one step toward Chloé before she held out her hand with a box Chloé had seen multiple times before.
"Chloé Bourgeois, this is the Bee Miraculous. I expect that you'll use it for the greater good."
Chloé reached for the box and didn't waste a moment opening it. A golden light flew out of the box and circled her once before the light turned into Pollen, who looked at Chloé with a bright smile.
"At your service, my queen." Pollen said and bowed.
Chloé was feeling overjoyed watching the kwami and wanting to tell her everything about what had happened in her life these past four months. But before she had a chance to do so, Ladybug interrupted her.
"At 8 pm tomorrow all of the heroes of Paris will meet at a place I will give to you 30 minutes before. I want you to be there as well. There is something we all need to talk about." Ladybug explained and before Chloé had a chance to say anything, Ladybug left.
