"So, this is where it happened." Chloé asked as they were standing in the alley where she had been attacked.
"Yes." Viperion said.
She would never have returned here, at least not alone. She was glad that she had three other people with her this time. But it didn't make her relax one bit. This wasn't a place with good memories, and she wanted to leave as fast as possible.
"What are we looking for?" Chloé asked as she walked toward the street.
"Something." Viperion said.
Chloé stopped and turned around.
"You think we will find something here?" she asked him.
"It's our best shot if we want to find that guy."
She nodded even though it felt pointless. What could they possible find here that would lead them to the man that had attacked her? She would recognise him if she saw him again and he'd probably hunt her in her dreams from now on. She would never be able to escape him no matter how much she wanted to.
She sighed and kept walking while she looked around.
It smelled bad in the alley, and she wondered why she hadn't noticed it the night before. She knew she had been excited to become Queen Bee again, but enough to not notice that horrible smell? Would that even be possible?
She didn't stop walking until she stepped on something. Her first thought was that she had tramped at some gum and was about to scream over it, but stopped herself when she removed her foot from the thing she had tramped at and noticed that it was a ring.
She picked it up and took a closer look at it.
It was a silver ring with a big sapphire on. It almost reminded her of the ring her father had gotten her mother as a engagement ring. It had been simple, but luxurious and definitely not enough for her mother who had "lost" it and gotten an more expensive ring from her father instead.
She knew this wasn't her mother's ring. But she also knew that she had seen it before. But where?
"Did you find something?" Pigella asked and came up to her.
"A ring." Chloé said and gave the ring to Pigella who examined it.
"It's pretty." Pigella said.
Both Purple Tigress and Viperion came up to them to see the ring themselves.
"Could it have belonged to Chloé?" Purple Tigress asked.
"Maybe." Pigella said.
Chloé stayed silence and gazed at the ring as it was handed over to Viperion. She knew she had seen it before. But it didn't belong to either her mother och herself. Who had she known that had a sapphire ring in their possession?
"Should we ask Chloé about it?" Pigella asked.
"Wait." Chloé said and reached for the ring and took it from Viperion.
"What?" he asked.
She took a closer look at the ring to see if there was any writing on the inside of it and was not the least surprised when she noticed two letters there. She turned to the other heroes.
"I need to leave." she told them.
"Why?" Pigella asked.
Chloé didn't bother telling them anything and was about to leave when Viperion stopped her.
"What are you going to do with the ring?" he asked her.
"I know someone that works at a jewelry store, I will ask them about it and if they don't tell me anything useful I will let you do whatever you want with it." Chloé explained.
"That sounds like a good plan. Don't go too far before you detransforms and make sure you are not being followed." Viperion told Chloé.
She nodded and left.
She didn't go that far and detransformed close to her father's hotel. Even if she felt a bit unsafe being out alone she was thankful that nothing bad happened to her when she walked the last distance to the hotel and went inside.
The lobby was quite empty, and she greeted the woman at the reception before she headed to the elevator. She went inside and on the way up to her floor she took a close look at the ring to make sure that she had read the writing right.
"Do you know who it belongs to?" Pollen asked her.
"Yes." Chloé answered, she knew that very well.
When the elevator stopped, she walked into her bedroom and took up her phone. She went through her old photos that she had saved for sentimental reasons. When she finally found the one photo she was looking for she zoomed in and found the ring on the person she knew it belonged to.
"Isn't that Sabrina?" Pollen asked.
"Yes." Chloé said and put away her phone and placed the ring inside the drawer in her nightstand before she shut it.
"Was it her ring?"
"Yes." Chloé said.
"Are you going to give it back?" Pollen asked.
"Maybe." Chloé said.
Had the man that attacked her dropped the ring in the alley when he ran away? Did it mean that he had taken the ring from Sabrina or had Sabrina given the ring to the man? Chloé wasn't sure why Sabrina would have done something like that, at least until she remembered that Sabrina had changed Chloé to Lila Rossi as a new best friend and Chloé knew Lila hated her.
