It was early sunday morning and Chloé had barely had any sleep. She had woken up over and over again during the night after having had nightmares about the man from the alley. He never got to her though, but that was just a dream and reality could be very different.

Pollen had been by her side every time she had woken up and comforted her the best she could. Chloé knew that Pollen had probably stayed awake during the whole night, protecting her and that made Chloé happy to know that someone was watching over her.

After she had gotten dressed and put on some makeup to cover up all the damage on her face she took on her purse and waited for Pollen to fly into it, which didn't take long for the kwami to do. After it she took the ring from her nightstand and put it in her pocket.

"Pollen, I want you to rest for a while." Chloé told the kwami when she walked toward the door.

"I'm not tired." Pollen said.

Chloé stopped in front of her door and looked down at her purse and the kwami inside.

"Nothing bad will happen if you rest for a while." Chloé said and smiled at the kwami who seemed to want to protest. "I'm going to be okay."

"Are you sure?" Pollen asked.

Chloé nodded and chuckled when the kwami fell asleep almost immediately.

She left her room and went down to the lobby. She skipped her breakfast knowing that she had to be at a certain place in a couple of minutes. It wasn't a long walk, so she wasn't worried that she would get there too late.

It was early morning and the sun was shining. It was light outside, and it made her a bit calmer. She avoided walking past most alleys toward her destination and the few alleys that she had to walk past, she almost ran past them.

As she was getting closer to the coffee shop, she slowed down and finally stopped when she was almost by the entrance. She didn't plan on going inside as she knew that the person she was waiting on would come outside any moment now.

The last time Chloé had seen the person she was now waiting for she had ran the other way instead of facing her. But this time Chloé had not other choice if she wanted some answers.

When the door to the coffee shop opened and the redheaded former best friend of Chloé stepped outside, Chloé walked right up to her and blocked her path. Chloé's heart were beating fast in her chest and the moment the redhead's eyes fell on Chloé, she knew she had to talk first.

"Sabrina, lovely seeing you here." Chloé said and forced a smile on her lips.

"Chloé? What are you doing here?" Sabrina asked and looked around as if she was looking for the answer somewhere else.

"I was just going to get some coffee and noticed you." Chloé said and kept her smile on her lips.

She didn't know what she was going to do now. She wasn't there to get coffee, she was there to get some answers. But knowing Sabrina, Chloé knew it would be a problem to get some answers. But this felt like her only chance unless she wanted to face that man from the alley again and hope she wasn't going to be too terrified to speak to him.

"You drink coffee?" Sabrina wondered.

Chloé nodded.

The silence fell between them, and Sabrina kept looking around as if she was waiting for something to happen. When it didn't, she looked back at Chloé.

"I have to go before I get late for work." Sabrina said and was about to walk away when Chloé stepped in front of her.

She crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked down on the redhead.

"Did you lose something?" Chloé asked her.

"What?" Sabrina asked and looked down on the ground to see if she had dropped something, but quickly looked up when she didn't see anything there. "Why are you asking?"

"That sapphire ring you used to have, what happened to it?" Chloé asked.

"I gave it to Lila." Sabrina answered.

Chloé didn't want to jump to conclusions, but hearing that the ring was given to Lila made her think that it hadn't been a coincidence that the man from the alley had attacked her out of all people. Chloé did know what kind of person Lila was, and that she is sending someone after Chloé made total sense.

"What about it?" Sabrina asked.

For a moment Chloé thought about what she would do. What the next step should be. If she gave the ring back to Sabrina she knew Lila would find out and know that Chloé knew. But if she kept it and Sabrina for some reason would end up telling Lila about her odd questions she was sure Lila would know what was up. Either way Chloé lost.

She opened up her purse and noticed that Pollen was awake and looking at her. She had probably heard Chloé's conversation with Sabrina and wondered what would happen next. Chloé took up her phone and turned to Sabrina.

"Why did you give it to Lila?" she asked.

"She wanted to borrow it, and I gave it to her. It's not a big deal." Sabrina explained.

Chloé nodded before she put her phone in her pocket and took out the ring that she had put in there. She held it out for Sabrina to take, which she did after a few seconds of confusion.

"Where did you find it?" Sabrina asked.

"Tell Lila that I know what she's doing and let her know that she is messing with the wrong person." Chloé said and held Sabrina gaze for a few seconds before she walked around her former best friend and went into the coffee shop.

She walked up to the counter and looked up at all the different coffee sorts they offered. She didn't really drink that much coffee, but she did feel like she needed some after the lack of sleep she had had during the night.

"Can I take your order?" the woman behind the counter asked.

"One espresso, please." Chloé said.

The woman nodded and went to make it for her. During the time Chloé was waiting for the coffee to be done she took up her phone and sent a text to her sister asking about visiting her today and she got a reply right away that said that she was welcome any time she wanted.

When the woman returned with her espresso, she paid for it and left. Chloé had checked how much she had left from the money her father had given her and it seemed to be enough for her to be fine if she just wanted to buy small things like a coffee, which she rarely bought or something else that wasn't too expensive.

She didn't actually drink coffee, but today was an exception. She needed it to stay awake for the rest of the day after getting no sleep during the night.

As she was walking back to her father's hotel, she could feel the effect of the coffee and felt more rested than she had moment's earlier. She knew it wasn't enough to keep her feel the same through the day. But if she could stay awake for some more hours or even until after dinner, that would be enough for her.

She returned to the hotel and walked through the lobby and was on her way to the elevators when she spotted her father walking towards her.

"Chloé." he said and she knew right away that something wasn't right.

"Has something happened?" she asked him when he was close enough.

"It's nothing too serious. Do you have time to follow me up to my office so that we can speak in private?" he wondered.

She nodded.

They left the lobby and headed to her father's office. When they got there, she sat down in front of his office desk and he quickly sat down behind it. He gave her a long gaze before he finally broke the silence.

"How are you feeling?" her father asked.

"I'm good. A little tired, but otherwise good." she answered.

"How's Zoé?" he asked.

"I guess she is as good as she can be."

Her father nodded and reached for a piece of paper on his desk. He looked at it for a while before he frowned.

"I had my lawyers look into the problems with your account and it seems like it's nothing they can do." her father finally said and put away the paper before he looked at her as if he had failed her.

"I understand." she said.

She had worked hard to earn her money and to her surprise she hadn't spent to much of it. Sure, she bought a lot of clothes and shoes and other things she really needed, but she still saved a lot of money. She couldn't deny that it made her feel angry and upset to know that she had to start all over again. But it didn't feel hopeless.

"I'm sorry about it. If you want, I could try and call your mother and talk to her about it, but I doubt it would change anything." her father suggested in a way that made it seem like he truly didn't want to do it.

"She called me and wanted me to come back to New York." Chloé told her father.

"What did you say?" he wondered.

It almost looked as if he thought that she was about to tell him that she was going to take a flight back to New York and return to her life there, but that was the opposite of what she wanted.

"I don't want anything to do with her. She has caused me only pain recently." Chloé said honestly.

There were a lot of different reason to why she didn't want to go back to New York, and she was surprised when she realised that one of them was Viperion. She sat there in silence and stared at the top of her fathers desk and wondered why or even when he became a reason for her to want to stay in Paris.

"I'm glad to hear that you want to stay in Paris, and I'm sorry about the things your mother have done. You deserve more than that."

"Thanks." Chloé said.

It felt as if their conversation were over, but Chloé didn't think it was. She was sure that her father wanted to tell her more things and like she expected, he continued talking almost immediately.

"What do you say about working at the hotel again?"

"I'm not sure." Chloé said.

She had been working at the hotel before she left for New York. It had been fun, but it hadn't been what she truly wanted to do with her life. She knew she was destined to run the hotel in the future, but that's far away into the future. She wanted to do something other while she still had the chance.

"Just let me know when you decide." her father said.

She nodded and remembered her discussion with Adrien.

"I didn't know that Adrien was staying at the hotel." she told her father.

She knew it wasn't common for him to tell her about the guests at the hotel, but this was different. Adrien was her oldest friend and the Agreste's had been a family friend since before Chloé was even born. If there was someone her father would tell her was a guest at the hotel, she assumed it would be them.

"I didn't think about informing you about that. But it almost seemed as if he didn't want anyone to know that he was back in Paris." her father explained.

"Why?" she wondered.

Chloé couldn't think of any explanation to why Adrien wouldn't want anyone to know that he was back in Paris. As far as she knew, his father were still living here. Maybe it had something to do with his work?

"I'm not sure." her father said.

"He actually asked me to move into his apartment and become his room mate." Chloé said.

"Oh, did he?" her father wondered.

She nodded.

"I said yes." Chloé said.

She was waiting for her father to ask her if she was sure if she wanted to do so, but he never did. Instead, he just smiled at her and looked as if he had one less thing to stress over. He didn't seem the least bothered, probably because he knew Adrien. But it still felt as if something wasn't right.

"You seem to have no problem with it." Chloé said to her father.

"I'm just happy for you." her father said and smiled.

For a second she wondered if she should ask some more questions about it, but she decided not to. She knew her father didn't want to get rid of her, but her stepmother? She had always liked Louise and she had to admit it was nice to know that someone was looking out for her father. But at the same time it felt as if Louise was waiting for her to do something evil and that made her a little annoyed.

She had really tried to better herself these past couples of years. She had lost too much by being the spoiled brat she used to be, and some didn't even acknowledge that she had changed. She wanted to believe that her father's reaction was based on happiness, but she couldn't be that sure.
