The floor was somewhat free from broken glass and they could finally leave Gabriel's now when Adrien's time at work was over for the day. Chloé couldn't help but notice how happy he seemed when he had told her they could leave, but she understood why that was.

They left the office and started walking down the corridor the opposite way from where Chloé had come from. She knew Adrien probably had another way to get out of the building, but she didn't want to stay quiet about it.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"I need to get my things." Adrien explained.

They turned right when they reached the end of the corridor and walked up to an elevator that stood a couple of meters away.

"Where are your things?" Chloé wondered.

"At my father's office." Adrien told her when they entered the elevator.

The doors closed, and Chloé turned to Adrien and gave him an obvious worried look that he seemed to notice.

"It's nothing to worry about. I'm just going in to his office to get my things. He's usually not there during these hours, so I'm sure it will be fine." Adrien quickly explained.

"I'm going with you anyway." Chloé said.

Adrien smiled at her before he clicked on the button to take them to the seventh floor. When the elevator's stopped and the doors flew up the two of them was about to exit the elevator when they noticed someone was about to enter it during the very same time.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Marinette said before she stepped to the side to let them pass.

When Marinette looked up her gaze fell on Chloé and she looked a bit shocked to see her there, something Chloé totally understood. A moment later Marinette turned to Adrien and seemed more surprised than shocked to see him there.

"Hi Marinette." Chloé said and stepped out of the elevator.

"Hi Chloé." Marinette said and eyed Adrien who was still standing inside the elevator.

Chloé slowly turned around and looked at Adrien. She was about to ask him if they were on the wrong floor, but when she noticed the way he looked she knew that whatever she would have said wouldn't have reached him in any way.

Adrien looked captivated when his green eyes fell on Marinette. It almost seemed as if he wasn't sure what to say or what to do. Chloé knew that look and she had seen it many times before. But she had never seen Adrien have that look at anyone, ever. So Chloé was a little surprised to see it directed at Marinette of all people.

A few seconds of silence went by and Adrien only got out from his almost hypnotic state when the elevator door was about to close and trap him inside the elevator. He quickly pushed them open and stood to the side to let Marinette trough.

"I'm sorry." Adrien quickly said.

"It's fine. Thank you." Marinette said before she entered the elevator.

When Marinette turned around, she smiled at Adrien who let go of the doors that moments later closed.

When it was just Chloé and Adrien left in the corridor she quickly turned to Adrien.

"What was that about?" she asked him.

"What?" Adrien said surprised.

"That look you gave her."

Chloé wanted to roll her eyes when she noticed how clueless Adrien seemed over her comment. It was as if he didn't even know that he had just looked at Marinette as if she was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on. Chloé knew Adrien could be a bit dense sometimes, but she never thought he would be that dense.

"What look?" he finally asked.

"Nothing." she said.

Adrien gave her a long look before he nodded and started walking.

Chloé followed Adrien through the corridor and didn't bother talking about Marinette again. It was probably nothing and if it turned out to be something Chloé was sure that Adrien would talk about it whenever he wanted to. The only thing Chloé could do was to make sure that Adrien knew he could talk to her if he wanted to.

"You know." Chloé said as they turned left.

"What?" Adrien wondered.

They reached a large door with the name 'Gabriel Agreste' on and Chloé decided to speak again when Adrien stopped in front of the door.

"I'm always going to be here for you, Adrien. If there is anything you ever want to talk about, I'm willing to listen." Chloé told him.

Adrien reached out to the door handle the same time a smile showed up on his lips. He flashed it to Chloé before he turned the door handle and opened the door.

Chloé took a few steps to the side when Adrien entered Gabriel's office in case his father was in there. But as Adrien had told her earlier, the room seemed to be empty and Gabriel was nowhere to be seen.

Adrien left the room with his jacket on and closed the door after himself.

"Come on." Adrien said and started walking. "Let's get out of here."

The two of them left Gabriel's behind and started walking toward the building where Adrien's apartment was at. It wasn't that far away from Gabriel's, but it wasn't that close to it either and that made Chloé a little bit more relaxed.

After a few minutes they reached the building, and Adrien pushed a few buttons to enter a password to get into the building and when he was done he opened the door for Chloé to use and closed it behind him when he entered himself.

"The password is seven eight four five." Adrien told her.

"Seven eight four five?" Chloé questioned.

"It's easy to remember." Adrien explained.

They entered the elevator and Adrien clicked a button that Chloé missed to see. But as they were heading higher and higher up in the building Chloé was starting to wonder at what floor Adrien's apartment were at.

"Don't tell me it's on the top floor." Chloé said.

"Are you afraid of heights?" Adrien wondered and sounded quite worried about it.

"No." Chloé said. "I'm not afraid of heights."

"Good." Adrien said.

Even if Chloé was the daughter of the mayor of Paris, she could never afford an apartment on the top floor of any building here in Paris. Her father wasn't paying for her lifestyle and thanks to her mother she didn't even have the money for it anymore. At least it wasn't a penthouse she was going to live at.

The elevator stopped and they walked out of it when the doors opened. It didn't take Chloé long to realise exactly where Adrien's apartment was located.

"This is a penthouse, isn't it?" Chloé wondered.

"Yes." Adrien said and smiled at her before he started walking inside the apartment.

Chloé stood there for a moment and wondered if she could even afford to live there as a room mate. She knew she couldn't, at least not with the salary she got from working at Luka's music store. She didn't want to be a drifter.

"Here, come and pick a room." Adrien said before he disappeared from her view.

Instead of staying by the elevator, she walked farther into the penthouse and followed Adrien where he went. It didn't take long before she found him and when she did he stood in front of an open door and waited for her to come up to him.

"This is one room you can pick." he said and walked over to another open door and made a gesture to it. "And this is another."

Chloé nodded.

She looked inside the closest room and felt a bit guilty over just looking at it. There were no way she could stay here for free. She didn't even know how much Adrien paid for it all, but she knew she couldn't afford it.

"Something wrong?" Adrien wondered.

"This is too expensive, Adrien." Chloé said.

"What do you mean?" he wondered.

Chloé took a couple of steps toward Adrien to get closer to him. She wasn't sure exactly what she would tell him, but she knew she had to be honest.

"I don't have money to live in a penthouse. I could barely afford to live in an apartment with the money I have at the moment. There's no way I can live here without paying for my part." Chloé explained.

"I told you money wasn't a problem." Adrien said and gave Chloé a smile which she didn't reply with her own.

"It is for me." Chloé said and felt like hitting something, but held those feelings away for now. "My mother stole all of my money when I left New York last week."

Adrien's green eyes went wide open when he heard Chloé's words.

"What do you mean stole your money?" he wondered.

"She called the bank and told them I had stolen money from her, and she somehow made them give all my money to her. My father's lawyers can't do anything about it, and my mother will never give it back to me either." Chloé explained.

"Parents always claim they love us, but then they do things that hurt us. They say it's for our own best and that they want to protect us. But they are just making our life's more difficult."

When Chloé heard Adrien's words and the anger behind them she was almost frighten. She had never heard or even seen Adrien look so angry before and she didn't have to ask him who he was talking about, she already knew it was about his father.

"What did your father do?" Chloé asked Adrien.

For a moment it seemed as if Adrien wanted to tell her everything, but something held him back. He shook his head and gave her a look that made him look sorry.

"It's not something I want to talk about." Adrien said and looked down on his right hand which he slowly made into a fist.

Chloé followed his gaze and noticed that the ring he usually wore wasn't there. She had never asked him about it knowing that it probably had been a ring he had bought himself or something like that. But he had always worn it and that was enough so that Chloé would know it meant something for him.

"Your ring is missing." Chloé said and looked up.

"Yes." Adrien said sadly and looked at Chloé. "Can you please move in either way?"

"Adrien I-"

"It's either you or Lila." Adrien said and sounded desperate.

Chloé almost wanted to ask him what was wrong with Lila, but she already knew that. It was hilarious that she even thought about asking him about it.

"You have no problem with me not being able to pay for anything?" Chloé asked. "At least for now."

"No I don't." Adrien said quickly.

"Then I guess I want that room." Chloé said and pointed toward the room she had looked into moment's earlier.

"You haven't even looked at the other one." Adrien said.

"I don't need to." Chloé said and smiled at Adrien.

She had only looked at the room for a few seconds, but it reminded her a lot of her room at her father's hotel. The room was large with a big bed and it also had a walk in closet. It also seemed to have a door that led out to the balcony, something she knew she needed if she was going to have an easy way out if she was needed as Queen Bee.
