Niko pulled Savi from beneath the snow, but it seemed like the cook was out. "Oh no, why you as well?"
He took off his winter coat to keep his fallen companion warmed. In some concern, Niko checked on Savi's fingers and toes for any signs of frostbite. Luckily, he didn't see any skin damage. He wasn't quite sure how long they were buried under the snow. And now he found himself facing a new issue. There was no sign of their hopeless captain.
"Luffy! Please! Wake up! You're going to die! We need to find you!" Niko called out hopelessly. He traveled around the snow with Savi on his shoulder. He probed any lumps of snow in hopes of finding his lost captain. Then he noticed a disturbance of the snow. "Uh no."
This was definitely where Luffy was. Unless it was a Lapin who got buried and remerged. However, there were two sets of footprints that magically appeared and disappeared. One set was hooves and the second set were boots with a tip.
He spoke to himself. "Hooves. I think from a reindeer? Yes. It must be the doctor and her reindeer. They must have found Luffy. Did you hear, Savi? Luffy's with the doc! He will be saved!"
He then smiled in some hope. However, the issue arises of how to retrieve his captain and what to do with his cook. "Savi, you're in good hands." The thought of the Lapin came to mind. "I know how to run fast."
Even though he spoke highly of himself, he was still tired from carrying Luffy this whole time. He looked at the base of the tower. He was so close but he came through so many troubles. "I will just rest. Savi will wake up soon. When she does, we can find a way up this tower. We will see Luffy soon. He will be fine."
He sat down against the tower and held Savi in his lap. He moved the coat in order to wrap around the both of them. It was too cold to actually sleep in this weather.
After a while, Niko came up with a hopeless plan. "Doctor! Doctor! We're here! Doctor!"
He kept going until his throat became burdened. Hah. How could he really think his calls would be answered? Even now, all he could hear was the wind whipping past.
…
Chopper wasn't sure what was the matter with her current patient. The boy was asleep. Doctor Kureha didn't seem to worry about the boy that much either. The doctor only told Chopper that rest was always the best medicine.
"But what if he has a concussion?" Chopper said out loud. She walked nimbly into the room with the black haired boy. She pressed her furry wrist against his forehead yet found it strange that no fever formed. Everything was perfectly healthy about this individual. The only issue that came across was his unwillingness to wake up. Even when the boy fell down from the saddle, he didn't stir awake.
Chime.
The bell on the clock clicked at midnight.
Luffy stirred awake with a giant yawn. He leaned his body upwards and stared at the interesting items around the room before resting his glaze onto Chopper. The reindeer was petite with a rather large pink hat. Her hat had two designs, one white cross on the front and one white heart on the back. She wore an orange dress with a white collar. Underneath, she wore a darker orange pair of shorts. Yet, Luffy knew it was Chopper just from her reindeer-human figure and her blue nose. There was no mistaking it.
As soon as Chopper caught his attention, she scrambled into the hallway. She was a reindeer-girl. She cannot be seen. If she was seen then people get scared.
"Chopper!"
The boy stretched forth from the bed to hug the reindeer. His arms wrapped her entirely so that it was hard for her to breathe.
"Stop! Stop!" She tried the passive route but he didn't release. So she tried the aggressive approach and transformed into a larger version of her reindeer girl form. "I told you to get off me!" She yelled as she stretched the boy off using her other form's strength.
"Sorry! I'm just so happy to see you! Chopper! It's me, Luffy! Monkey D Luffy!"
"I don't know you, human!" She screamed.
Finally, Kureha walked into the room after hearing the commotion. "Oh, you're awake, dearlie."
Chopper used this chance to run away from the mental patient and hide away in the hallway. Sadly, her way of hiding just meant hiding her horns behind the doorframe with her whole body in view. Once the small reindeer knew that Luffy was in a good condition, she thought it was time for her to leave before the human could hate her.
This only left Luffy and Kureha inside of the room. "Hey Doctor Granny!"
"You said your name is Monkey D Luffy? And you know of Chopper?"
He nodded.
"Can you tell me how you got this information? I don't ever remember treating you around these parts. And Chopper never leaves my side."
He found himself in a slight problem at her questioning. He quickly covered his mouth with his hands before he could speak anymore. He wasn't quite sure of the information himself and he didn't want to get punched by Granny again. The thought of being chased around the castle with knives flying through the air made him quite antsy around the old hag.
"Stop trying to keep it a secret." She pinned the boy down to the ground and brought out her knife against his throat. "This is my Chopper. I'm her guardian. I want you to spill all the beans or else this knife will slit your throat. Now. How did you know of Chopper?"
He started uncovering his mouth one finger at a time. "He's my nakama."
"He?"
"Oh, I guess he is a she now. Just like Sanji."
This wasn't making any sense for Kureha. "Go on. How is Chopper your nakama? Where did you meet?"
"We met on this island. I needed a doctor on my crew so he, well she, saved her. Nami got bit by a bug. And you two saved her!"
"Is that why you didn't scream when you saw a talking reindeer?"
"I even saw his giant form. And speed form. He ate Hito Hito no Mi and had rumble balls."
This information was only shared with a few individuals, yet here this mystery boy was sprouting out the facts. It was even interesting the boy knew of Chopper's power and the medicine made to change forms.
"Dr. Kureha!" Chopper came running in with two more bodies in her human form. "I heard them down at the base of the tower! I think they got frostbite!"
"Nami! Sanji!" Luffy came forth towards his friends. Now that he was awake, he realized that a lot of things happened. Was he seriously asleep for that long?
The doctor lifted them onto the bed and quickly covered them up. Now that the captain seemed to be healthy, it didn't matter that these two were in his bed. "Chopper! Warm water, not hot, sponges, and towels! Quick!"
With that, Chopper ran out of the room once more. The reindeer was prepared for cases like this.
"So the girl is Nami and the boy is Sanji? Does she still have the bug bite?"
"No. Well, I guess they are Niko and Savi now. I made sure Niko didn't get a bit like last time. She was in a bad condition last time, so I didn't want it to happen again."
"In other words, you knew what would happen?" She paused for a moment. This guy kept changing their names and sexes. "Yet their genders are not the same?"
"Yup. I don't know either. But I will find them again!"
She shook her head. This boy only brought mysteries. "And Chopper became your doctor? Did you guys treat her well?"
"Yup!"
"Are you planning on taking her with you?"
"Yup! I need hi-her to be our doctor!"
When Kureha could hear Chopper approaching, she ended the conversation with: "I won't get in the way, but that's for Chopper to decide."
He nodded at her response and his thoughts changed once Chopper came back into the room carrying the supplies.
The doctors went into a focused state as they dabbed the sponges into warm water and rested them along the worst areas of their bodies. Kureha noticed a few issues on Savi's feet. She went over and grabbed a syringe over. The needle poked Savi's heel and the liquid was pushed inside. Then Kureha brought over a small blade to scrape some of the dead layers away.
The reindeer focused his attention upon the navigator. There didn't seem to be any wrong other than specks of blood around his mouth. Next thing the doctor grabbed was medicine to smooth the throat and dabbed it towards the back of his mouth. As she did so, the man opened his eyes and started coughing up saliva mixed with the medicine.
"You're fine! I'm going to get you some water! Don't move just yet!" Chopper pleaded as she moved to the sink for a cup. Then he brought it back to the man. "Drink slowly. It's going to hurt some."
Niko gulped down some water before he spitted it out. "Talking reindeer!"
She wanted to run away, but she needed to watch her patient. "I told you to drink slowly! Stupid human!"
"Niko! It's okay! It's Chopper. H- She will be joining us!" Luffy said while standing behind the reindeer. He was even smiling and waving as if there were no issues.
Why did Niko have to follow such a dumbass captain? Why did he always get himself surrounded by random people? Wait, Luffy did mention Chopper once before. No, he said Chopper's name twice. Did Luffy plan this whole thing out?
"I'm joining you?" The reindeer started hiding behind her mentor. "Why would I join you guys?"
"Because you will be the greatest doctor in the world! With us, the Strawhat Pirates!"
"Rubberbones!" Niko corrected. "How did you know of her?"
"Because I know who I want on my crew." He held up his fingers and counted each one. "Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, Franky, and Brook. And you, of course."
Robin. That was the man that made Vivi scared. The same man that kidnapped their crewmembers. No way. There must be a different Robin that Luffy was speaking of. The black haired man was their enemy. There was no way that their captain would allow such an unknown enemy along their crew. Niko found himself at odds against Luffy. If that Robin was asked to join, then Niko could not allow it.
"That's not happening! I'm not joining!" Chopper exclaimed. She was a bit happy in being wanted, but she didn't want to join pirates of all things.
"Luffy, do you have a special power you never told us about?"
"Hm…" He still wasn't sure about the words. He could feel the old lady watching him. So, with a giant grin, he said, "I got friends. And I will get them back."
Niko fell back down into the pillows. He couldn't just be drawing random names from memory. Did he just have some sense of insight of who he would encounter? At least that explained some things, but this only made him uncertain of his captain. And did that mean he didn't join the crew out of his freedom of choice, but Luffy's will?
"So Chopper was destined to join us?"
"Yup! I won't leave Chopper behind!"
Kureha's eyebrow raised at this. The boy just seemed so certain about this. "Well, Niko, sometimes it's the way of the D. They will always alter the world one way or the other."
"I'm afraid of this idiot!" Niko retorted angrily. "He is so stubborn!" After taking a moment to calm himself, he looked at the reindeer once more. Even though he was at odds about the Robin ordeal, he heart was moved by the cute reindeer that was treating them. This was the one thing that he would allow. "So, Chopper. Will you be joining us? Our captain is an idiot and falls asleep for days on end. We need someone to watch after him. And I don't think I mind it if the doctor was you."
"But aren't you scared? I'm a reindeer with a blue nose and can speak. I walk on two legs."
"There's no issue with that," Luffy mumbled under his breath.
Niko's eyes landed on Luffy. "Are you sure you don't want her for meat?"
"No! I told you I wanted her as a doctor!" He argued. Why didn't anyone understand him?
"Shut up! You idiot humans!" Chopper found herself unsettled by the guests once more and left the room with the purpose of finding cleaner towels. She just felt so embarrassed in front of these weirdos. She didn't want this unwanted attention. She wasn't dancing in the hallway either!
She was though. Her hips moved from one side to the other and her arms waved in the air.
Savi started to stir awake from hearing the shouts. She opened her eyes and found herself inches away from Niko. Why was this beautiful man near her? She felt herself blush with perverted thoughts from the idea. Then she realized there were others in the room. There was an old lady, and her healthy captain. Just what happened while she was unconscious?
"Savi! You're awake!" Luffy smiled fondly at her.
Oh no. Her heart started beating once more. She felt a wave of emotions roll over her. Her nose started sprouting some blood.
Kureha looked at the party members. Did she really trust these lot to take care of Chopper? This group dynamic seemed close. They risked their lives to reach the castle in hopes of finding her. Maybe they would do the same for Chopper if she was in a similar boat.
"I don't know how much to believe you brats. This world is crazy, so maybe you are as well. However, if you want to whisk my reindeer away, you're going to try a different approach. Her heart is bound with past trauma."
/
Her parents were shunned away from the others once their baby was born. The baby with the blue nose was different. It was strange. It could only mean the baby was meant to be left behind.
It took her parents a while before they finally gave up loving her.
Still Chopper found herself following after the herd. The others would eat first, and she was left with the spare food. She found herself chomping on a nasty smelling fruit since there was nothing left.
And then she changed. It was a devil fruit.
She turned into a different being that wasn't quite reindeer nor human.
The others chased her away. Her parents were at the front. They didn't even realize that was their own child anymore.
She tried coming to a village in a form closer to a human. It wasn't close enough. She heard screams of the villagers who saw her as a monster. They attacked her without listening to her pleas.
She found herself returning to the wilderness. She left the village with injuries. There was no one who would care for her wounds. Even her parents wouldn't lick them clean. She had nobody.
And then a strange man appeared. He carried a suitcase. Was he here to finish the kill?
"You're going to die at this rate," he commented as he got to his knees, "However, you don't look human. Are you the supposed monster the village keeps making a fuss about?"
When he opened his suitcase, Chopper's frustration reached a new level. She brought her fist against his face and left the man behind. Humans could never be trusted.
Then she heard the man hollering once more. He got on his feet, naked, and yelled, "I would never shoot you! I'm not like those villagers! My name is Hiriluk! And I'm a doctor!"
…
Chopper found herself on a firm bed underneath a blanket. There was a piece of bread nearby and her stomach groaned. She watched the sleeping man as she took her first bite. Tears started to form from her eyes. She wasn't dead.
It took days for her to build trust around this strange man, Hiriluk. Then she finally spoke and this made the doctor surprised. When his experiments failed, he made sure she was safe.
"Toni Toni Chopper," he spoke once. "That's a fitting name for a reindeer with horns like you! Do you like it? That's what I'm going to call you from now on."
"Chopper?" She smiled. It was nice having a name.
She started to notice the man was always by himself inside of his home.
"I'm an outcast just like you. Don't resent humans for this. This kingdom has a deep rooted illness. I plan to cure it. Listen, there was once a thief who wasn't able to be cured by the finest of doctors. He climbed a mountain and saw… Cherry blossoms! Afterwards, he was told he was completely healthy! It was a miracle! Or maybe it was a scientific process? However, no disease is incurable! I shall-" He brought his hand to the flag behind him, "Show this flag to the face of any diseases in this world!"
This caught Chopper's attention because of the strange combination. Curing people yet the flag had a skull and crossbones.
"I will fight on like a true pirate! Unwavering conviction!"
"Pirate?"
"People who venture on the seas. You should as well one day. You will realize how small your worries are once you see how big this planet is."
Then there was the day Hiriluk finally left his home once he heard of an illness in the village. Chopper followed along with the man. Chopper soon realized why the man was considered an outcast. After every failed attempt at helping people, the villagers would chase them away. After they had an argument, Chopper was given a pink hat with white cross marks.
One year later, Hiriluk discharged Chopper from his care. It was so sudden. Chopper was left out of the house.
"I'm injured now!" Chopper yelped as she smashed her head against the tower.
Boom.
A gunshot that dug into the snow right next to Chopper.
'I told you to leave! Leave for the seas or whatever! Never show your face around again!"
…
She kept her eye on his whereabouts. She saw when he left for an older lady's house. She overheard sad news of Hiriluk's illness. And when he left, she stormed his research. There was a bit about a mushroom in the research.
She left a mess behind and ventured into the forest when she came across her old herd. The herd only treated her with aggression. Looking down an abyss, she found a mushroom that she read about in the research notes. It took her some time and some pain to reach the mushroom, but she finally did.
It was time to return to the doctor with her findings.
"Live, doctor, and teach me how to be a doctor."
"Oh Chopper. How can a kind individual be unable to be a doctor?" He hugged her with tears flowing down his face.
Mushroom soup was fixed and Chopper's injuries were bandaged. While he was eating, an interesting reaction formed. This was what he always wanted in his thirty years of researching. He can now bring cherry blossoms here!
The doctor took his leave now that he has recovered. Chopper was happy. She finally helped someone.
A few moments later, the door slammed open to reveal Kureha. "Where is he?"
"He recovered so maybe he's in town."
"How can he recover? It's an incurable illness."
"Doc said he felt better after the soup! I made it using this amiudake mushroom!"
"Is that…"
Kureha couldn't hold off her anger and smacked the poor reindeer. Tears fell down her face. "That mushroom you fed him was a poisonous mushroom! He will die within an hour!"
"But the book said it can heal everything! See! This picture has the same image as the flag!" The picture in the book had a skull and crossbones. It was true that it was just like the flag. The flag that Hiriluk said would cure any disease. "He said he was all better! He's not a liar!"
"He was appreciating your efforts. You misunderstood. That image is a symbol for poison." She took a moment to look Chopper in the eyes, "There's no magical cure. We need doctors. Kindness alone can't save people, you need medical knowledge!"
This crushed Chopper's heart. Her savior took poison for her sake.
"He won't return. The castle will be his final resting place."
Chopper ran from the house with one purpose in her mind. She needed to be by his side.
She came upon the scene when there was a giant explosion and her mentor's hat was on the ground. He was nowhere to be seen. There were shouts and laughter from the people gathered. Some pointed at her and called her monster.
She wanted to fight these laughing bastards. A bullman was her opponent. His tears landed on her face. "I apologize for the laughing bastards! But don't become another sacrifice for this country!" The bullman backed down and let her escape.
She only knew one route she could take.
Doctor Kureha.
"I will become the doctor that can cure anything! There are no incurable diseases! Please teach me!"
/
"Can you pirates possibly fix that hole?"
"We did once before. We will do it again!" Luffy said while hitting his fist into his opened palm.
"Doctor Kureha! Wapol! He's back!" Chopper's calls were heard throughout the castle. The reindeer felt frozen by the entrance. The hatchlings above the door weren't even aware of the incoming danger.
…
It didn't take long for the trio to figure out the situation they were in. Vernes pointed towards the pile of snow from the avalanche. And in front of them were new soldiers that they had never seen before. "Wapol's men. They won't let us search for him under the snow!"
"Enemies then?" Zora got to the point. Her eyes were staring daggers right at the men's uniforms. It didn't take her long to attack one of the fellows to retrieve a coat for herself. Oh the warmth.
"Zora!" Urika screeched then immediately tried to turn the tables around, "Exactly how I ordered you!"
The other soldiers were not happy about this development and launched an all out attack on the woman. Their attack did not even land before they were wiped out by Zora's swords.
The villagers looked surprised by the turn of events, but now they readied themselves with shovels to get a move on it. "Dalton! We have to dig! Everyone!"
Even Urika and the princess helped in the search for the leader of the village. Zora was watching as she kept herself warmed. She wasn't sure what was happening.
A villager called out that he found him. The others gathered around to help dig out their leader. Once Dalton was unearthed, one of the villagers checked him over.
"His heartbeat! I can't hear it! It's too late. He's gone."
A few of the strangers stood by. These were not warriors, but simple doctors. "Let us MD-20s treat him!"
Zora tilted her head to the side, "I thought there weren't any doctors other than the one in the castle."
"Maybe from Wapol's ship?" Urika assumed, "But they work for the bad guy?"
"You expect us to trust you after following Wapol?" Vernes questioned the speaker of the doctor group.
The speaker took off his glasses and frowned. He knew it was too late to ask for forgiveness in their past actions. "We went along with his orders, but we are doctor's at heart. A certain quack doctor once taught us to never turn our heads away. We can't afford to lose anymore fools like Dalton."
Finally, the villagers realized they had no other choice but to trust these doctors. Even after all that's been done. That was in the past, and Dalton's life was in danger now. "I will watch you," Vernes warned.
Urika, Zora and Vivi stood in the middle of the village. Vivi seemed distraught as she kept pacing one side to the other side of the path. "Shouldn't we follow Savi and Niko? We haven't heard any news. What if Dr. Kureha is not there? We need to tell them about this group of doctors."
"Calm down Vivi. You're burdening yourself. You've been worried about Dalton, Alabasta, and Luffy. They will manage. Just give them time."
"Thanks Urika."
Zora probed Urika's forehead. "You're just scared of climbing."
"Duh! There are man-eating rabbits up there!"
"Should've started with that."
"What if I'm scared? Those guys can handle it."
Before Zora could continue this conversation, they heard Dalton speaking.
"I must go. Wapol is here. If we let this chance slip by, this country will rot. Even if it means sacrificing myself, I must go."
Urika watched and her emotions were moved. She went over to the man, "Hold onto me, I will get you there." She wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Dalton tried taking a few steps using Urika as leverage but he wasn't getting anymore.
Zora took the bait and whisked Dalton away from Urika. She held the huge man over her shoulders. "Urika, you wanted this right? Don't ever say I don't do anything for you."
"Zora!" Urika coughed out. Maybe next time she will loan the bastard her boots. "I was in serious mode and you butted in!"
"You weren't going to get anywhere at that pace," she scoffed.
"Hey, we can fix the ropeway. You guys can reach the top much faster." One of the villagers told them.
They all nodded at the response. Vivi knew well about this man. She knew he was only trouble. And it caused such heartache for the rest of his country.
…
Niko felt a bit creeped out by Savi and was the first to leave. Did the girl know that he held her at the base of the island? Is that why she started having a nose bleed? Ugh, these thoughts only made Niko's mind swirl. Just like her eyebrows.
He punched himself.
No more time to get lost in thought. He needed to focus on this Wapol business and helping out Chopper. He wasn't sure about the reindeer, but Luffy was set.
Kureha and Chopper, in her reindeer form, walked out of the opened doors first. One door was never closed due to a bird's nest resting at the top of it. This was where they saw an unappealing sight of Wapol and his men.
"Where's my flag? What is that piece of trash up there?" Wapol thundered.
"I burnt it. This castle is now Hiriluk's grave, not your castle anymore. This isn't a place for rotten bastards like you. Now get the hell out of my country."
"You're using my castle for a quack doctor?! That fool thought he could save my doctors! Not every execution gets to claim hold of the place they died at!"
This only made Chopper more angry. Hiriluk was not a quack. He wasn't executed. He made his own choice.
Luffy, Niko, and Savi walked out from the building to join them. Luffy's entrance was, however, sudden. He grabbed onto the doorframe and brought himself backwards. He stretched until he reached the staircase and aimed for the unwelcomed party. And then he lifted his feet and allowed himself to reach the invaders.
The invaders suffered a collision that brought them backwards. A few fell onto the depths below the tower.
"He just stretched?" Chopper questioned.
"Yup. He's a monster too," Niko smiled at the reindeer.
"You talked?" Savi asked. As soon as the words came out, Niko nudged her with his elbow. "Ouch!" Once she realized she made a mistake in front of her Bello~, she turned her attention away from the strange reindeer.
Chopper tried not to be offended. Everyone saw her as an abomination. Maybe Luffy and Niko were a bit different, but there was no way her whole crew could accept her. She just needed to focus on the invaders. The ones who spoke badly of her mentor.
Niko flashed his ax out and looked at the targets. Luffy was currently tangled with the three leftover people. A man who looked like a jester, Chess. A man with an afro, Kuromarimo. And the bastard of a ruler, Wapol. He didn't know most of the politics of this kingdom, but he knew that Wapol was not their leader any longer. Not when the man appears like a wrecking ball.
The battle transitioned with each person helping the other. Savi had Luffy hold onto her and swung him at the opponents. Niko and Savi fought side by side against the combination of Chess and Kuromarimo. Chopper kept Wapol on his toes for Luffy's next attack.
Then Wapol brought a cannon to the flag above the castle. Hiriluk's flag.
"Not again," Luffy muttered. He tried to keep Wapol's attention away from direction. He made sure Chopper and he was always on the outer edge, yet Wapol decided to taunt them.
Luffy raised himself to the top of the tower. "A poser like you who only plays pirates. You never risk your lives. Could you understand the meaning behind a pirate's flag?"
Chopper watched with big eyes. "Rubberbones…"
"It's just a decoration," Wapol retorted back.
"It's a symbol of conviction." Luffy decided it was time for the battle to end. He knew the very next action.
Wapol used the cannons in his stomach and sent a blast at Luffy.
Luffy held onto the flagpole tightly. "You can't destroy this flag." And just like he said, the flag was still standing. It was filled with holes, but it was still together. "An idiot like you shouldn't dare touch this flag."
Chopper watched with utmost gratitude for the captain. He was amazing.
"Chopper. I'm going to finish this. What will you do?"
The enemies didn't wait to see what Chopper was doing. Their entire focus was on the annoying pest at the flagpole. It wasn't until Chopper brought her fist against Wapol's stomach.
"You monster!" Wapol shouted. "Such a pitiful existence. You don't even have friends after that quack doctor!"
"I will fight without anyone by my side! That flag is behind my back and that's all that matters!"
Luffy saw this and grinned. This was what brought Chopper along the first time, and this time was no different. He wasn't going to leave without his doctor. "What do you mean without anyone? You got me! You got us!"
Luffy jumped into the air, and when he was above the bad guys, he launched his fist downwards and grabbed onto Wapol. As Luffy was lowered to the ground, Wapol was raised into the sky. When Luffy landed on the ground, he had full control of Wapol. He brought Wapol face first back into the castle.
The nest got disturbed from the entranceway. The pieces started to crumble away.
Chirp!
Oh no.
Chopper used her rumble ball in order to transform into her speed form. She pounced around the battlefield until she got to the entrance. Her hands went forth to grab the small hatchlings as they fell.
She did it.
All of the hatchlings were caught.
Thank god.
She let out a whimper.
"You pesky little reindeer. You should always pay attention to your surroundings." This voice came from the man who caused this. A huge shadow covered over Chopper. She gulped.
Thump.
Bash.
Savi with her legs and Niko with her ax busted the man from behind.
Chopper used her chance to jump away from the battlefield into the castle. She needed the babies to rest somewhere peacefully as the fight continued outside.
Luffy swiped the battlefield with his gomu gomu bazooka.
That's when the others finally joined them on the tower top. Zora, Urika, Vivi, and Dalton watched the display with open mouths. Once they left the carriage that brought them to the top of the tower, they found that they were too late for the combat portion.
"You're that… reindeer from before," Dalton uttered as he noticed Chopper.
Once Chopper was notified, she started hiding between a tree.
"Thank you!" Dalton got on his knees and bowed to the reindeer. This action only caused Chopper more confusion. She was supposed to be hated by the villagers, yet this human remembered her.
This was when the others realized there was a talking reindeer around.
"You're talking?!" Urika spit out from surprised.
Chopper froze up. She looked around for cover and found other trees she could run off into.
"Dumbass! That's our new crewmate!" Luffy said as he smacked the sniper. "You scared her off!"
Once Luffy had a chance, he chased after the reindeer. He kept yelling for her to stop, yet the reindeer never listened. It felt like they ran twenty yards when Chopper stopped for breath. It was already well into the early morning by this point. Luffy kept calling out Chopper's name as he lost him through the forest. "Chopper! You have to join me! I'm not leaving!"
Chopper wasn't quite sure why this human was so personal to her. Why did he keep saying her name? Why did he keep following after her? "Just shut up! I'm a reindeer with a blue nose and can talk. I appreciate your help but stop. Thank you for your help, that's all I wanted to say. Just leave!"
"Just shut up and come with us already!"
A tear started falling from Chopper's eye. Why did this human stay? Why couldn't he just leave already?
"Okay!" She called out.
Moments later, Chopper said her final goodbye.
Kureha was surprised at first. She wasn't sure that the boy could change the reindeer's heart so easily, but here was Chopper saying her goodbye.
"A crybaby like you?! Leaving my side for a pirate crew?!" She shouted as she threw knives at the poor reindeer.
However, the choice was already decided. Chopper was the new crew member for the Rubberbones Pirates. There was no going back now.
Chopper ran through the entrance where she encountered the other Rubberbones. "Hop in!"
Everyone got onto the carriage and began their journey back to the ship.
Luffy was now satisfied that he was able to get his doctor. He looked at Niko just to make sure. "You didn't get a bug bite right?"
"No, idiot."
Why the heck did they end up on this island then? Luffy only had more troubles. However, those thoughts left him once he reached his ship once again. Going Merry. He thought fondly that it wouldn't be too long until the others joined him. He could catch back up! Whatever that island that he landed on, he would reach soon. Then he can see his normal life, and make sure that this life was still the same as before. Nothing was going to change if he was in charged of it.
Origin of Tony Tony Chopper: Tony comes from Tonakai in Japanese for Reindeer. And Chopper comes from the idea of chopping down trees.
