"Where's-where's my brother?"* Hazel asked, looking at Poseidon as if he'd grown another head.
"What do you mean, not on this world?" Frank asked, who had been standing silently by the door the whole time.
Poseidon, who looked like he'd suddenly been thrown into a cage of hungry sharks, looked around at the 5 demigods glaring at him, before explaining.
"Years ago, there was a demigod named John Tolkien. His mother was Calliope, the Muse of epic poetry. He had a very faint scent, so he left the camp after a couple of years, and became a professor, but the call of his mother's talent was too hard to resist. He wrote many books, centered around a world called Middle Earth, with heroic deeds done. His mother sent the visions of that world to him in dreams, and he wrote them down, publishing them in books such as The Hobbit, and The Lord Of The Rings. But what many do not know, what even he did not know, is that it was all true. Middle Earth exists and is a separate world from our own. They have their own gods and their own races of people. And yesterday, they called out for our aid. And Zeus answered, sending the three eldest children from the three eldest gods."
They all sat there for a few minutes, or maybe a few hours, they couldn't be sure. It was a lot to take in. Finally, Annabeth broke the silence, saying in a whisper, "will he come back to me?"
Piper and Hazel sat on either side of her, comforting her, and Poseidon looked down at his feet, and said, "I hope so. Zeus knows the consequences if something were to happen to Percy."
"But he can't control what happens in another world. You said it yourself. There is a different set of gods there. He can't guarantee what will happen to them in there," Leo burst out, from where he had been quietly fuming on the chair next to the couch where the girls sat.
"No, he can't," Poseidon said quietly.
"Haven't they done enough? Haven't we all done enough? What's it gotta take before you realize we're real people and not your servants who do everything you need, who have lives you're messing up? Another death? A massacre?" Hazel said, thinking about her brother who had already lost his sister, and Jason.
Piper spoke up, saying, "Zeus can't guarantee they'll come back unharmed, or even come back at all. You can't guarantee it. And we can't lose them. Not after Ja-" her voice broke, full of emotion, and she had to pause for a few seconds to compose herself before saying, "Not after Jason. We can't take another heartbreak."
They all looked up when they heard the door slam open, and Will rushed in, with a solemn Hades behind him.
He glared at Poseidon, before sitting next to Annabeth, who hadn't said anything for a while and had just sat there, twisting her ring. "They're gone, Will. And I don't know if they'll come back," she whispered, before leaning into him and burying her face in his jacket.
"Come on Annie, you didn't act like this when Percy went missing before. Where's that fiery spirit that put you in my infirmary from sleep deprivation every week."
"I knew he was on this world. This, a different world, we've never dealt with something like this before."
He nodded, and Hades and Poseidon shared a glance, before both disappearing to let the demigods wrap their heads around everything that had happened.
So, I know that this was like the shortest chapter ever, but this was just a filler to kind of explain the whole two different universes thing and how this works.
