They rode hard, Percy and Thalia never leaving each other's side, their hands clenched into fists on the reins they held in worry for Nico.
They passed under the shadow of two statues, hundreds of feet tall and awe-inspiring, their hands outstretched, and Aragorn stopped to bow his head in the shadow of them. When Percy and Thalia looked confused at this behavior, Gimli whispered, "those are Aragorn's forebearers, Elendil and Isildur."
After a moment of silence, they continued on, Percy and Thalia looking understandingly at Aragorn. They know how heavy the burden of expectations can be when you have great people in your family.
They rode up the mountain, and left the horses in a clearing, climbing the last length on foot.
All the men, Percy and Thalia as well had their swords out, alert for any attack.
"νομίζεις Nicos εδώ?" (Do you think Nico's here?) Percy whispered, walking alongside Thalia.
"ας ελπίσουμε." (Let's hope.) Thalia replied, keeping a white-knuckled grip on her sword.
A branch snapped, and they all jumped.
Suddenly, Nico stumbled out of the brush, clutching his shoulder, feverish unfocused eyes spotting Percy and Thalia. "Guys!" he shouted hoarsely, before collapsing.
They rushed over to him, Percy falling to his knees beside his little cousin, tugging his ambrosia out of his pocket. The soldiers made to rush at him, but Thalia stood guard over the both of them, brandishing her sword fiercely and yelling, "Stay back! Don't touch him."
Legolas and Gimli had no doubt, even with the tentative friendship they had formed with the girl, she would not doubt to strike them down if they moved towards the boy.
Percy cradled Nico's head in his lap, murmuring a slew of words in english and greek.
"Shhh, Neeks you'll be okay, είσαι καλά (you're alright), calm down, θεοί τι έκανες (gods what did you do?)"
He slowly fed him the life-saving food of the gods, and the boy's condition improved, and he seemed to focus more.
"Percy, what, how? Where are we?"
Percy sighed, glad Nico was feeling better, before shrugging and saying, "your guess is as good as mine. You really messed up the shadow travel trip this time."
"Not my fault," Nico groaned, hissing as Percy unwound the hastily wrapped bandages around his injured shoulder. Thalia let out a low whistle as she looked at the slowly closing wound.
"Nico, that looks like an arrow wound. Did you get shot?" Percy asked.
Nico winced in answer and Percy's answer was cut off by an angry voice yelling, "That's the Necromancer! Somebody kill him!"
Percy and Thalia's heads both snapped up to glare at the speaker, and Aragorn replied rather sharply, "Lord Maverick, that is a child. No matter what he has done, I refuse to kill a child. And we have yet to hear his side of the story."
"We don't need to hear his side of the story. He used dark magic, killed a Gondorian soldier, and severely injured another. You should kill him right now boy!"
Aragorn snapped back, "that is enough! I am your King. You will use the proper titles when you address me, and you will not argue with me. I will not judge this child before hearing him speak."
Lord Maverick backed down, his face heating up at his reprimand. Some of the soldiers snickered at his embarrassment, and he mumbled, "Apologies Your Majesty."
Eomer glared at him, and strode up to Aragorn, walking at his side as they slowly approached the three children on the ground.
Thalia glared and pointed her sword at them, but they held up their hands. "We just want to talk to him. We won't harm him."
She stayed silent, before motioning to their swords.
Eomer and Aragorn, understanding what she meant, unbuckled them and threw them to their men. "Do I have your words that you won't harm him?"
Aragorn put his hand to his heart and said, "you have our words that we won't harm him until we hear his side of the story."
Glaring at them, she stepped aside slowly, and the two kings strode forward, laying their eyes on the injured boy. He was now strong enough to sit up by himself, and Percy hovered nervously by his side.
He looked at them warily, his eyes full of mistrust, especially on Aragorn, with his Gondorian tunic.
They knelt down slowly, and held out their hands in a placating gesture. Nico cleared his throat, and said, slowly, "why does that man want me dead?"
They shared a glance, and Eomer spoke up. "He believes you used dark magic. He believes you are following the path of Sauron."
All they received were blank, confused stares. "What is Sauron?" Percy said.
It was Aragorn and Eomer's turn to be confused. "Sauron? Maker of the One Ring? We defeated him a few years ago," they said.
"You realize we have no idea what you're saying, right?" Thalia said, walking slowly over to stand on the other side of Nico, still keeping her eyes on the two kings, her sword drawn.
"How can you not know? Everyone in Middle Earth knows who Sauron is!"
"Because we're not from Middle Earth," Nico said softly. Both King's heads snapped up. "This is a different world. A different one than where we're from."
"I thought so," Percy mused. "Kyma didn't know who Poseidon was. When I told her he was the god of water, she kept talking about someone named Elmo. No, not Elmo, um, what was his name, ah, Ulmo! And she said that she wasn't created by him either."
The cousins shared uneasy glances and started talking in Greek.
"So, different universe? Why did the gods send us here?"
"I don't know Thalia. I know you don't exactly have the greatest relationship with your father, but me and Death Breath are alright with pur dads. They promised us we wouldn't be sent on any more quests if they could help it. Besides, all three of us? The Big Three kids? They must be pretty desperate to send us."
"Where have you guys been? I was dropped here a couple of days ago! Some men saw me and immediately attacked! Didn't even ask first. Some men in camouflage, and some men wearing his tunic, with the white tree," Nico said, nodding his head in the direction of Aragorn. The man, smartly, looked uneasy at the deadly glares his older cousin's sent his way.
"My powers still work, thank gods, but a guy got in a lucky shot, thus the arrow wound in my shoulder."
"They seem to think you were a bad guy. From what I can gather, there was a war about three years ago. They faced some guy, Sauron. Sounds a lot like Gaea in the way they talk about him. They think you 'follow his path,' or something," Thalia said, watching the men sitting in front of them glance uneasily at each other. She smirked. Let them squirm, wondering what they were saying. They deserved it for hurting her baby cousin.
"So, we're in a different universe, all alone, with people who are trying to kill us. Amazing," Nico shot back.
"What should we do," Percy asked.
"Tell the truth. Explain who we are, that we mean them no harm, and we're just trying to get back home," Thalia said.
They all exchanged glances, before turning back to the two kings next to them. Percy stood up, helping Nico stand, and Aragorn and Eomer followed, rising as well.
"We are not from this world. We are from a place called Earth. Our gods sent us here for some reason that we don't know. We don't want any trouble. We just want to get back home."
Aragorn and Eomer shared a shocked glance, before saying, "We will not harm you. We will try our best to help you get back home. But first, I believe introductions are in order."
Thalia answered first. "I am Thalia, Lieutenant of Artemis, daughter of Zeus."
Percy answered next. "I am Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon."
Nico answered last. "I am Nico di Angelo, son of Hades. Please don't shoot me again."
Aragorn and Eomer both barked laughs. "That we won't," Eomer said.
"I suppose I have many names," Aragorn said, smiling. "I am Aragorn, also known as Elessar Telecontar, or Strider, and I am King of Gonder, Isildur's heir."
Eomer spoke next. "I am Eomer, Theoden's sister-son, and King of Rohan."
The two kings then turned to their man, saying, "it is all right. Lay down your weapons. We will not harm these children. They are visitors from distant lands, seeking to learn more about us. They are to be considered visiting dignitaries, and under our protection."
The soldiers quickly put their swords down, notably happier now that a fight wasn't brewing. Lord Maverick was watching with a gaping mouth, but to frightened of the consequences to say anything.
Nico stepped forward on steady legs, already almost fully healed. "Thank you," he said, offering a grim smile to the two kings.
"We'll head back to the White City tomorrow morning. I'll have my best scholars try and see if they can find any mentions of world travelers in their texts," Aragorn replied, returning a smile to the young man.
"If you could, try not to tell anyone about the different world thing. I don't know how the people will react to it," Eomer said.
"No problem," Percy said, twirling Riptide in pen form between his fingers.
Thalia walked forward, saying, "what should we say about our-"
The sound of howls filled the air. The men in the clearing turned white, and Aragorn cursed.
"What is that," Percy said, the three demigods already going back to back, slipping into familiar fighting positions.
"Wainriders, and who knows what monstrous demons they have with them," Aragorn replied, drawing Anduril. The silver sword glinted in the sunlight, and despite the grim situation, the sight of the famous sword filled the surrounding men with courage.
"Can you fight," he asked the three, while Eomer barked out orders. Thalia snorted. "Can you?"
Eomer smirked. "Ready yourselves then."
And so, three of the most powerful demigods of their age line up to fight with two kings of Middle Earth.

I'm baaaaaack!
Fuck me honestly. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to leave this for as long as I did. A lot of shit went down over my break. I had some health issues, there was some drama happening with my family, and I had to put down my chinchilla. I would like to say I was able to get my shit together, but I'm really just returning to this as an escape mechanism. I do plan on updating this more. It will be weekly, and it will be on Saturdays.
Ay, all three cousins together again.
The monsters smelled the three demigods and directed the Wainriders to the party, that's how they found them.
I stopped translating into Greek because honestly there was a lot of Greek and I was lazy and didn't feel like it, so if you didn't realize, the italics are them speaking in Ancient Greek.
Fallen-Angel signing out.
