"Ladies and gentlemen...it is time for the last fight of the day!" Mon Ki called out as the lights shined down. "This boy hails from an unknown island where no one knows its name. He's used his amazing psychic abilities to combat monsters and minions. He is the Boy from Nowhere. Welcome...Lucas!" Mon Ki called out as Lucas came running in.
"He's doing well it seems." Litty smiled softly.
"So Litty...who would you be fighting? Lucas or Ness? I mean, if you are fighting." Ochako asked.
"Possibly Ness." Litty said.
"Okay. I was just curious." Ochako said.
"No harm in that." Litty replied.
"As for Lucas's opponent...Fatebreakers have been decided for this fight." Mon Ki said.
"So we're up against a Psychic." Legolia said.
"We're going to have to fight smartly and effectively if we want to beat this boy." Tanya said.
"Hmm… well, Seiya'd be overkill on the kid, and we shouldn't send in anybody that'd be at a disadvantage to his powers. Psychics where Lucas comes from can use certain elemental attacks." Ristarte said.
Ethox thought about it before getting an idea. "Guys.. I've got a crazy idea that just might work." he looked to Darkness. "How about we sent Darkness in?"
At that, Kazuma couldn't believe what he heard, staring blankly at his leader. "...You're kidding, right?"
"No. Let's send Darkness." Ethox repeated.
"..You want to send in someone who can't hit a dang thing?! Are you trying to sabotage us?!" Nemo asked.
"Hey, we all know Darkness has accuracy issues, and I'll admit sending her in is kinda… unorthodox. But Tanya said we need to fight smart, and with Lucas being a powerful psychic, we need to have the edge in defense, and Darkness is built like a tank." Ethox said. "So why don't we see how long Lucas's offense can go banging his head against Darkness's defense?"
"Who exactly are you talking about again?" Kazuma asked.
"Y'know, I actually agree with Scarface on this one." Seiya said. "Why don't we see what kinda match our machisocist punching bag can give the psychic?"
"Besides, psychic or not, he's still just a kid. We can't exactly go full bore on them...unlike someone we know." Ultra said.
"One time, and everybody gets on my case about it!" Shadow Prove said.
"You beat on a kid while he was down." Ristarte said.
"He had a sword!" Shadow Prove said.
"Guys, guys, no fighting." Ethox said. "Alright, Darkness. You're up. Let's see how this plays out, this fight could be interesting for the crowd to see."
"You're really sending me?" Darkness asked, just as surprised as the others were.
"Well… yeah. You up for it?" The Nobody asked.
"Of course! On my honor as a knight, I shall do my best to bring us victory!" Darkness declared.
"Oh, and save the ecstasy from pain for after the battle." Nemo said.
"I'll do my best, but no promises." Darkness said, heading out.
"Oh, we are so gonna lose this one…" Kazuma sighed.
"Now...for Fatebreakers. We have a member of a four man adventurer team. She is their shield and their knight. She is incredibly sturdy and ready to take on all comers head on. She is the Knight of Darkness. Welcome...Dustiness...Ford...Lalatina!" Mon Ki called out as Darkness entered.
"Wait, what was that last part?" Ethox asked.
"...We'll explain later." Mirror Match said as he locked eyes with Ultra, knowing they'd be running damage control later.
In the arena, Lucas faced Darkness as the two squared off.
"I don't intend to take it easy on you just because you're a girl." Lucas said.
"(Oh, he truly must mean it… this is going to be wonderful - after the match, of course.)" Darkness thought to herself, before drawing her sword. "Nor do I expect you to hold back. Come at me with everything you have, psychic!"
"Fighters, you shall face each other at...New Pork City!" Mon Ki said as the two appeared in a grand city. "You may...begin!"
"PK Fire!" Lucas said, launching a bolt of fire at Darkness who took it head on as she caught on fire.
"And there she goes, taking the full brunt of punishment as usual." Ultra said.
"For our sake of a winning streak, my friend, I do hope you know what you're doing." Gimilor said to Ethox.
"Don't worry. We all have our strengths and weaknesses… and this fight plays to her strengths better than you'd think." Ethox assured.
The fire died down, revealing darkness still to be in good shape, albeit her armor was smoked.
"PK Freeze!" Lucas said unleashing an ice attack as Darkness was frozen for a bit before breaking free.
"Wow...so cold." Darkness said.
"Uh...PK...Thunder!" Lucas said, launching a ball of thunder at her.
"Will she at least try to dodge this one?" G. Aqua asked.
The ball hit the crusader dead on, shocking her, yet she still stood in place.
"N-No way! None of my Psi-Attacks are doing any real damage?!" Lucas asked.
"D-Don't despair, young psychic! You just need to try harder!" Darkness said, her face tinged with the slightest hint of pink. "Hit me again, I insist!"
"(Don't say stuff like that! That's just asking for you to get hit harder!)" Kazuma yelled in his mind.
"All right...I'll honor your request." Lucas said, jumping to the air. "Kumatora! Boney!" he called out as joining him was a pink haired girl and a small brown dog as they channeled energy into the air as many bright bodies started to fall. "PK...STARSTORM!" they called out.
"Crap, that's Lucas and Ness's best move! No way Darkness can tank that!" Kazuma said, grabbing Ethox. "I hope it was worth it, man, because this crazy idea of yours is gonna backfire and give us the first loss among the hero groups!"
"Kazuma… just believe in us, like people believe in you." Ethox replied in a calming tone, shocking Kazuma into silence. "I know it looks bad, but I'm not worried. That's because… I believe in Darkness!"
The crusader stood as one of the falling stars landed in front of her, hiding her from view. When the attack finally finished, Lucas landed back in the arena, looking ahead.
"Did I get her? No way would she be able to be even on the stage, the attack ranges all over the place." Lucas said.
"Wow...that...was...incredible!" Darkness squealed out as she stood there, completely roughed up.
"NO WAY!" Lucas said in shock.
"She's okay!" Michiru cheered happily.
"She's okay?!" Kazuma repeated, in total shock. "Holy crap, I can't believe she survived a psychic meteor shower!"
Lucas looked in shock at what he had just seen. He then smiled as he raised a hand. "I surrender."
"And we have a surrender. Meaning the winner is...Darkness!" Mon Ki said. "And with that...all matches for the day have concluded so feel free to enjoy a little rest for the remainder of…" he said as Darkness collapsed to the ground. "Oh my...miss? Are you alright?"
"I've never been more alright in my entire life…" Darkness replied, a look of absolute etcasty on her face. "This feels like heaven~..."
"Uh… sure." Mon Ki replied, not entirely sure of what to make of this.
"By the way, Lucas… Why did you just throw the fight like that?" Teepo asked.
"Because Darkness withstood the strongest attack he could muster. He has nothing left." Elize said.
"Yes...I knew from looking at her that there was no way she would fall no matter what I threw at her." Lucas said.
"Darkness wasn't gonna win in terms of a straight up fight, we all know her aim stinks." Ethox said. "The whole reason I picked her was so she could turn this into a battle of endurance. When it comes to defense and stamina…" Ethox said as Darkness returned, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Nobody does it quite like Darkness. You gotta know how to put your team's positive skills to use. That's the mark of a great leader."
"And our streak continues and...we get another afternoon to mingle with the greats." Kazuma said. "Man, Ethox, you never stop finding ways to surprise me. I mean, you almost sounded like-" the adventurer stopped at that moment, before shaking his head and quickly turning to Darkness. "So, Lalatina, huh?"
"I want all of you to understand this very clearly." Darkness said seriously. "Never call me by my real name."
"Too late, pretty much everyone watching knows now." Nesma said.
"Aaahh, this is not the kind of humiliation I like!" Darkness said in embarrassment.
"Cheer up Darkness. Hey, since the matches are over today, why don't we head to the Break Area for a while so we can recover and talk a bit?" Hope asked.
"Hmm...wait...I don't see Zoro anywhere." Jexi said.
"He said he was heading out and left." Aelita said.
"Geez...he likely got lost again." Jexi sighed.
"He's probably not even in the arena by now. Should we go look for him?" Leanne asked.
"I'll go and look for him. He's the guy with the three swords, right? I'll find him." Michiru said, as she ran off.
"Say, who is that anyway?" Eddy as Ethox. "New member, right?"
"Oh yeah, she's Michiru Kagemori." Ethox said. "She's a human who had a blood transfusion with Beastman blood, so she became a tanuki Beastman. She's pretty cool!"
"Through a number of circumstances, she joined our guild under the Fatebreakers banner. We can tell you more once all the fighting is over." Theo said.
"Right… For now, though. Let's just take the time to let loose in our own ways." David said.
