Warning: This chapter deals with thoughts of depression and suicide, if that makes you uncomfortable I would suggest only reading the first half and skipping the second.

Hikigaya Hachiman stopped walking, he knew that voice anywhere. He looked to his side and there stood his sister, hands behind her back and wearing a playful grin.

Hikigaya fell to his knees and looked up to her.

"How… how is this possible… you are dead…" Hikigaya stuttered.

She grinned at him.

"That I am, but you are having a hard time accepting that… aren't you."

Hikigaya looked down, his silence answering the question for him.

"Let's take a walk Onii-chan… our nightly walk."

Feeling tears in his eyes, Hikigaya got to his feet.

"...Okay…" He said quietly, not fully believing what he was seeing.

They walked in silence for a while before Hikigaya spoke.

"Why are you here?"

"Is there a problem with me wanting to see my Onii-chan?"

"NO! That isn't a problem at all…" He said quickly. "But… how are you here and why can I see you?"

Komachi stayed quiet for a few moments, then answered.

"That question has a complicated answer, but the gist of it is, I don't want you to be depressed for the rest of your life, so I'm here to save you!" She said enthusiastically.

Hachiman stayed quiet. He wasn't ready for this conversation.

"Take a look at the stars… aren't they beautiful tonight, Onii-chan?"

Hikigaya didn't hear her, he was too deep in thought.

"Onii-chan?"

"What is she here to save me from?" He thought to himself. "How can she save me?...she's not even real…"

"ONII-CHAN!"

A yell in his ear quickly brought him back into the present moment.

"What!" He yelled, slightly annoyed.

She made a pouty face, "You aren't looking at the stars… and how beautiful they are."

His look of annoyance quickly changed into a look of sadness.

"I'm… sorry…" He said quietly. He looked up at the stars and what he saw amazed him. The stars were way brighter than usual and there were a couple of shooting stars that could be seen.

"That's... Amazing." He whispered to himself. He looked over to see his sister staring at him with a grin on her face.

"That's the Onii-chan I know…"

"Komachi…" he said with tears in his eyes. "I really miss you…"

Hikigaya broke down, he fell to his knees and started crying into his hands.

After managing to control himself, the duo continued their walk home.

"Onii-chan... I'll have to go soon…"

Hikigaya's eyes widened, "W-why…" he stuttered.

"I can't stay… because you have to move on and accept that death is a part of life."

Hikigaya stared at the ground in anger, "... I understand… I just don't get why it had to be you.." He muttered to himself.

"What was that Onii-chan?"

"Oh nothing…" He said, trying to put on a fake smile.

Komachi noticed that it was fake immediately. She put on a real smile and looked up.

"The sky sure is beautiful tonight, Onii-chan"

Hikigaya looked up and responded.

"...It truly is…"

He opened his mouth to speak, but when he looked beside him no one was there.

With a frown on his face he walked the rest of the way to his house… alone.

As he entered his house, he knew that this was going to be another sleepless night. He sat on the couch and thought over his conversation with his sister.

"I can't stay… because you have to move on and accept that death is a part of life."

He knew all this, but he just couldn't understand why it was her who had to die.

"She's the sweetest girl in the world… why couldn't she stay on it?" Hikigaya thought out loud.

And then, Hikigaya Hachiman started a dangerous way of thinking, that all began with 5 words.

"It should have been me…"

"... a loser with no friends…"

"...a nerd who spends all his time studying…"

"... a pessimist who has a negative outlook on life…"

"... I should be the one that dies, not her…"

Hikigaya Hachiman was depressed, he knew it, deep down he knew it. But he wouldn't admit it to himself.

In fact, this way of thinking caused Hikigaya to get angry. He slammed the table in front of him with his fist, then felt a pain in his chest.

"I shouldn't get worked up like this…"

He was breathing hard as he walked in his bathroom. He saw all the medications that he was supposed to take but one stood out to him at that moment…

"Antidepressants?!"

Seeing them set him off.

"DOES THAT DAMN DOCTOR THINK I NEED F #!ING ANTIDEPRESSANTS RIGHT NOW?!" He screamed, the pain in his chest was huge but he was so mad that he didn't even notice it.

He grabbed the bottle and threw it against the wall, he stomped the pills to dust. It was then, when he realized how bad his chest pain was. He immediately collapsed in pain, gasping for air.

Hikigaya laid on the floor breathing hard and getting closer to passing out with each second. As his eyes closed, he had one final, dangerous thought.

"Death… seems more inviting than life…"

Author's Note:

Wow, that was a heavy chapter, especially nearing the end. I revised this all day trying to make this scene work and this is how it turned out. Sorry if it was not dramatic enough for some people, I didn't want the story to get too dark. Although the story is fake, depression and suicidal thoughts are real, especially during the ongoing pandemic. If you or anyone you know has these thoughts, I would suggest reaching out to someone. There are plenty of people that can help and want to help. The suicide prevention hotline is 800-273-8255, there are also many Discord/Reddit servers that have people you can talk too, GabrielHaruba #7359 is my discord in case you don't do well in groups. Please stay safe. Thank you for reading this chapter and for all the nice reviews, they keep me going.

See you next chapter-Gabriel
