Warning: This chapter deals with thoughts of depression and suicide, if that makes you uncomfortable I would suggest skipping it.

Hikigaya woke up on the bathroom floor, the events of last night still fresh on his mind. He sat up and saw the mess that he made last night, he didn't bother to clean it, after today it wouldn't matter.
He went to the kitchen, made breakfast, took a shower, and got dressed for school. As he looked in the mirror and fixed his hair, he was having an argument in his mind...
"She wouldn't approve…"
"It's my life, I decide what I want with it…"
"Ask for help… you know tons of people that would help you…"
"What would they think of me having these thoughts, especially after I denied that anything was wrong…"
"You have to be fearful of what happens after…"
"Hikigaya Hachiman… fears nothing…"

On her walk to school, Yui Yuigahama contemplated what she saw last night out her window…
"Mom, I'm going to my room to study!"
"Ok, Sweetie."
She sat at her desk and looked out her windows to the stars.
"Wow! They look amazing tonight!"
She noticed that she wasn't the only one looking at the stars.
"Hikki…"
Hikigaya was staring up at the sky and was… having a conversation?
"What is he doing?"
He kept glancing to his side as he talked, as if someone was there. After looking up again, he looked to his side and fell to knees, sobbing. Yui wanted to go out there and help him but as she was getting up she saw him look forward and smile.
"What's going on with him?"
Yui was worried, he had been at school acting as if the accident hadn't affected him, but she knew that it had. This was just proof of it.
"I'll have to check up on him tomorrow…"

As soon as Hachiman got to school he saw Yuigahama storming at him and she looked like she had something to say. She walked right up to him and spoke.
"Hikki-"
"Ah sorry, Yuigahama, now isn't a good time for me, I have somewhere I have to be." He interrupted.
"But-"
"You can tell me later, bye." He said sprinting away from her.
Yukino Yukinoshita saw the whole conversation go down, she walked over to a stunned Yui.
"Yuigahama-san, what did you have to say to him?" She asked, concern in her voice.
Yui told Yukino everything that she saw last night with a look of fear on her face.
"I don't think he is fine, Yukinon, I'm worried about him."
Yukino took in everything that Yui said and pondered on it for a while. She was also worried for Hikigaya. First his outburst at her, then crying on the streets. He was definitely having issues, but he wouldn't open up, she had to help him, somehow.

As Hikigaya Hachiman went through his classes, he wasn't focusing on the content being taught, instead he was focusing on a blank piece of paper that he was writing on... an explanation for his actions.
Hiratsuka-Sensei was the only teacher that noticed this, and asked him to stay after class.
"Hikigaya, you didn't seem to be paying attention in class today."
"...I was paying attention." He said, looking at the floor.
"Are you feeling-"
"Hiratsuka-Sensei, I'm not in the mood to talk today, I'll open up to you about everything tomorrow… I promise…"
Hiratsuka-Sensei was worried about him, but she was partially glad to see that he would open up to her.
"All right Hikigaya, get some rest."
He flashed a fake smile as he left the room.
"I will, thanks."
The smile disappeared as soon as he closed the door.
"I really hate lying to Hiratsuka-Sensei…"

Once Hikigaya Hachiman stepped into the Service Club, the conversion that Yui and Yukino were having... stopped.
"Don't stop on my account." Hikigaya said as he sat down at his usual seat.
"Well Hikki… the conversation we were having… was about you…" Yui said looking him straight in the eye.
"Hikigaya-kun, we are worried about your mental health and don't say you are fine, because clearly you aren't." Yukino added, staring at him also.
Hikigaya Hachiman just sat there for a second, then responded.
"What gives you that idea?"
"Well yesterday when we were walking to the gate and you snapped at me and-"
"I saw you crying on your knees last night!" Yui blurted out, tears on the brims of her eyes.
Hachiman stared at the ground in silence.
"Oh that," he said with a chuckle, "I just got overcome with my emotions, it's good to let out a cry once in a while…"
"Why did you look like you were speaking to someone, Hikki?"
Hachiman closed his eyes, he hoped that she wasn't going to ask that question.
"Look, guys, I'm not feeling like talking about it today, I'll open up to you guys tomorrow… I promise." He said looking at both of them with a grin.
"Now I'm lying to my friends too…"

Yukino Yunkinoshita didn't believe Hikigaya one bit.
"He's lying, he would never just open up all of a sudden, his grin was fake at the end too.."
She looked at Hikigaya, he was intently writing on a piece of paper… with a look of sadness on his face.
"Hikigaya-kun if you don't mind me asking, what are you writing down? You usually read during this time."
He looked at her.
"Oh this… this is just something for later." He said with a smile, "Don't worry about it…"
Yukino knew she shouldn't push him for answers, but she did.
"Is it for me and Yui?"
"... I said you don't need to worry about it…"
"Why are you trying to hide it?"
Hikigaya felt a pain growing in his chest, he had to get out of here. He packed his things up and tried to leave but Yui blocked the door.
"Hikki, please… don't run…" she said tears coming out of her eyes.
Hikigaya was now breathing hard. He pushed past Yui and ran away. Yukino noticed that something fell out of his bag. It was the piece of paper Hikigaya was writing on.
"I wonder what this was for…"
As she read it her eyes widened in shock. She dropped it and ran back to a crying Yui and shouted.
"We have to find Hikigaya-kun!"
