You laugh a little too hard, almost spitting the soda out everywhere. You luckily collect yourself and gasp for air, promptly continuing to laugh in response to Sun slipping out a pitiful whine in disbelief that he just tore through his paper, the loud tearing having echoed through the Daycare.
He pouts. "I-I'm just excited! Not funny!" He looks up to you, immediately flipping from embarrassment to concern noticing the little bit of soda dripping off your lip. "S-Sunflower, are you okay!?"
You wipe your face with a napkin and catch your breath. "Ya, hah, just proves It was pretty funny." You cup your chin in your hand, resting your elbow on the desk as you watch him sulk.
He pouts expressively, and drags his legs over to the cubbies to collect another sheet, disposing of the one in the trash can next to the security desk. "You'll see! You won't make fun of me when it's the bestest list ever, yesyes.."
"Just don't break the pen this time." You watch as he turns to you, pen still in his hand after the paper scuffle.
He brings his hand to his eye level, beginning the motion of turning it so he can display the pen. "I didn't-"
His rays freeze.
He frowns. "..Oh."
You giggle. "Here, there's a few in this little cup thing." You take it and set it up on the elevated opposite side of the security desk for him.
He returns with a few extra sheets of paper, just in case, plus a vibrant assortment of coloring pencils, and what looks like glitter glue. "Mmh.. O-okay, thank you, Sunshine. I will be so veryvery gentle this time, yes."
You take another bite out of the burrito as he meticulously organizes and arranges the papers and pencils, and you reply once you're done. "You are very gentle, Sunny - well.." You pat your thigh. "Usually."
He looks up, concerned, but smirks a little realizing you patting your thigh. His soft eyes soon distort him between being a little proud of the marking to feeling remorseful of the damage he caused. "Mmmmh.. I.. but I didn't hurt hurt you, did I, Sunflower..?"
You giggle. "Hah, nah, you just got a little excited, in, uh, both scenarios. Don't worry though, it was cute." It genuinely really wasn't that bad - like a cat scratch. Not like you wouldn't be clawing at him too if.. mmh, nevermind.
He lights up with a warm smile dissolving from the smug one he beamed. "Mmhm, too excited~. A-And just wait until you see the to-do list, sososo cute, yesss!"
"I will be waiting in absolute anticipation, Sunshine." You check on your downloads at the laptop, them finishing a lot faster than you anticipated. The private staff WiFi is.. incredibly fast, faster than you've ever had at least. You'll definitely put that to good use, you just hope the laptop has an SSD so downloading and uploading files is just as quick too.
You finish the burrito, occasionally watching Sun scribbling, bent down and fully focused on his work. His sunrays spin, occasionally retracting just an inch before extending once more, like he's one-hundred percent entranced in the task of planning your.. date? Technically it could be a date. Cute.
"Having fun with the date ideas?" You grin, your heart warming at the idea.
He stills, sunrays and all. The sound of scribbling pencil and ink replaced by silences besides the Daycare Theme softly playing in the background.
You begin to sit up to look over your computer screen, almost getting a view of the little list Sun has been working sososo hard on, but he jolts back to life.
He shields the paper. "D-Date..? O-Oh, date.. I.. I guess it is! Veryvery cute.. sososo much fun, oh, it has to be PERFECT. I will make sure of it, yes!"
You grin, falling back into your chair. "So, when do I get to see the list?"
He bends over it, a hand shielding the front while he continues to write. "..Mmmh, when it's done, Sunbeam. Patience now~.."
"Dork." You roll your eyes and snack a little more on the untouched food you've yet to even consider eating. You pull up the company's program that allows you to read and edit their code, playing around and growing familiar with the UI.
There's of course presets to disable certain features, probably alike to the control chip's app on your phone that you haven't bothered to touch so far. There's other certain preloaded features too, and if you're clever you could probably program in some more if necessary. For now, you'll stick to growing familiar with their code. You won't run anything nor change Sun or Moon's base code without playing it through a simulation first, performing dozens of diagnostics and backing up their own data in case anything went wrong, of course.
You'll be as careful as possible, after all, it is kinda like brain surgery for them. If the download from last night told you anything, it's that you'll have to skim the code and only export certain sections at a time. You hope that what amounted to the petabytes of information was just memory files, but you have a suspicion that Sun and Moon themselves - what makes them, them, might also amount to a massive amount of artificial neurons presented as code, and maybe even whatever the fuck a soul is.
It might be too much to download and edit all at once. You'll have to read their live feed and hope your RAM doesn't catch fire. Maybe you can set it to only view a little at a time?
You have a few ideas, of course, the main priority being finding where the glitch lies and developing some kind of antivirus to differentiate between the rogue code and what's actually supposed to be there.
You also kinda wanna export stuff relating to their sensory feedback, which theoretically should be pretty easy to find if you, for example, play with his rays a little, and either manually search or code in something that'll notice any changes or communication in response to what they're feeling. From there, all you have to do is export that area of their data, and play with it a bit.. just in preparation for, mmh.. paying them back.
Pent up. From what Sun was upset about when you.. discovered what was in his pants, or lack thereof, you're sure it'd be a relief to finally allow them that kind of uh, satisfaction, you guess.
The closest to that kind of stimulation they've received you're guessing is when you play with Sun's rays, or accidentally tickle Moon's tummy - which, you're definitely going to exploit. You wonder what other sensitive spots they have, and if you can give them any more..~
The scribbling stops and the lack of white noise you were growing accustom to pulls you out of your daydream, and following immediately after, Sun picks up the paper, holding it to his chest, staring at you in anticipation.
You give him your full attention, lowering your laptop screen a little. "Sooo, can I see now?"
He beams and nods rapidly, flipping the paper and displaying it to you, the bells on his wrists jingling in excitement.
The to-do list's activities are centered in the middle of the paper, going downwards, and on each sides, are.. surprisingly good drawings of what may correspond to said event. Really good drawings, you wonder if it's just his programming that allows him to be so artistic. There's glitter everywhere that would allow it without it cluttering the page and making the writing unreadable, it's cute. The top is titled with Amazing PizzaPlex Tour ~Date~, tour being intentionally crossed out. It's beautifully vibrant, with shades of pink all the way to to light green and everything in-between lighting up the paper, tiny details such as smiley faces, hearts, stars and sparkles adorning the words written in various different fonts.
First up is visiting the Atrium, to which Sun has drawn many cute little symbols such as stars, palm trees, and linework of the main cast. You've already seen a little of it when he and Freddy took you to the infirmary, Sun carrying you so embarrassingly~. Secondly, he plans to take you to Chica's Bakery, of course to the side he's scribbled some charming little cupcakes. Maybe he can pay for some sweets with stickers again~. Third is somewhere named 'Rockstar Row', with everyone except Monty drawn under the name. The fourth line down is labeled 'FazerBlast', with little laser guns and squiggly lines around the word, giving you the correct idea of laser tag. Fifth is the 'Fazcade', and just right next to it he wrote 'Sugar~' in parenthesis, which definitely spikes your curiosity. Lastly, is 'The Fazbear Theater' with a little note on the side reminding you both to look through the DVDs that April (and Wendy) dropped off with the slumber party supplies, hopefully being able to play some when you're there~.
"Holy heck, Sun, this is adorable." Your tummy jumps and you giggle, taking in it all. He seemed to grow a little nervous in the time it took you to read and appreciate all the colorful little details around the paper, but now with your confirmation you really really really like it, he's absolutely beaming.
He slides it into your hands. "O-oh, I'm sososo glad you like it Sunflower, me and Moon have been planning it foreveeeer~!" ..Even thought it's only been a little over a week~. Time is weird like that, huh?
He organizes the pencils and crafts he brought over. "W-we know it's not toooo much, but.. I think it'll be nice, yesyes."
You're still admiring his work. "..No, Sun, this is perfect. I'm super excited too, hah.. But, uh, what's 'sugar'? You look up at him, genuinely curious.
He smiles, pausing and staring off into space for a second. "Mmmh, you'll just have to ask Moon when the time comes, you'll see, you will!"
Your eyebrows raise and you grin. "Mhm, that's definitely not concerning." You look down to the to-do list once again, still admiring the drawings and running your fingers over the glitter. "..Sun, you draw really well. Is that just.. y'know, innate programming, or..?"
He slows down his task of collecting the colored pencils, looking at them in his hands before hastily and neatly setting them back down on the table. "Oh.. no.. used to.. used to draw a lot, yes.. Not anymore.. N-not as much, I mean! Didn't have enough room for the kids' drawings! Nonono.. I only help them a little, s-sometimes. Uhm, and, the employees didn't like me taking art supplies to my room.." He mumbles that last part a little quieter. "No time either when kids were here.. nope! It's been.. veryvery long time. Oh, I shouldn't be using them in the first place, oh.."
That really tightens a knot in your stomach, especially the way he tries to justify him being forced to neglect hobbies. "Sunny.. That's not nice of the other employees. I told you no one would mind if you used the art supplies, definitely not the kids, and if anyone does, you tell me, okay? They won't bother you. You can draw as much as you want. Your art is really good, and you shouldn't have had to stop."
He looks over at the list, then to the pencils and glitter beneath him on the desk. "..Mmmh.. o-okay, Sunflower. I'd.. I'd very much so like to draw for you! Ooh, I will!"
Your smile returns. "Heh, yeah, seriously your drawings are super cute, and really good. Hm, does Moon have any hobbies..?" You reach over the desk to the cup containing writing utensils and retrieve a pen.
Sun tilts his head, then stares off, likely communicating. "..Oh, yes, that's right.. A while ago, l-like me, and drawing, he'd write poems and his own lullabies for the kids.."
He pauses for a second. "The one he sung to the kids on your first day here was one he made himself.." He freezes for a moment. "Oh, gosh.. Sarah."
You tilt your head before recalling her name and what Moon told you about her after repairing them the first time. "..Ah, the one that gave Moon those books?" You watch as Sun trails off into a cornfield of memories.
He gets permission to share from Moon. "..Y-yes.. Sarah. She gave him a few books, it inspired him a little, especially the poem ones.." Sun smiles. "I wasn't as bold, nuh-uh, but Moon did sneak some paper when he was out of view of the cameras, yes! He.. he'd like to show you sometime.. He hasn't written in a while, but.." Sun giggles. "Of course, for you Sunflower, he would again."
You melt. "Gosh, Sun.. Moon, that's adorable. Hah, seriously. I'd really really like that. Hm.."
You click the pen. "Why'd he stop though? He had everything he needed, right?"
Sun sighs. "No one to share them with.. I thought they were very cute though, yes. We.. didn't really get close enough with anyone to share anything, nono.."
You let him think, noticing the gears still turning. "And before you, we didn't really get along the best.. It was lonely."
Sun stills.
Moon wouldn't let anyone hurt Sun, but Sun didn't want anyone to get hurt in return. Moon had no problem with it however, and with a valid excuse that justified his actions, at least to him, he could do whatever he pleased. Sun was helpless. He tried his best to keep others safe, even those that hurt him so horribly, but Moon eventually devolved into preventing pain before it occurred, even if the employee was genuine and kind, like you. He hurt those that didn't deserve it just as much as the ones that did.
You broke that sentiment Moon carried for so long, to protect himself, to prevent pain. You're the spark that actually succeeded in igniting.
Sun shakes his head and his rays extend again, proceeding to resume their spin, albeit a lot slower than usual. "..Lonely."
You watch intently as he wandered in thought for a few seconds, before you finally speak up to soothe him. "..Oh, Sunshine. That changes, it has changed. I promise. It'll be different."
He feigns returning to his excitement, suddenly having fallen into a very dark place, even if it was brief. "Y-yeah! Mmh.. we'll make sososo much for you, Sunflower, o-oh, exciting!"
You return his smile with warmth, recognizing it as false. "Yeah, I'll get you guys your own little books and stuff too. It'll be your own. For you, a sketchbook, and for Moon, a journal or something similar. It'll be cute, aha."
That seems to help, his eyes brighten to join his smile. "..Oh that'd.. that'd be wonderful, Sunbeam! W-wha.. you.. you don't have to do that! Nonono, I'm sure we.. we can find something around here." He begins scanning the Daycare's cubbies and closet for supplies, only finding those that he's still hesitant to use for himself.
"Hey, it's literally no problem. With my paycheck, I'm already planning other stuff for you guys." You reach the pen in your hand over to him, gesturing for him to take it. "But for now, I wouldn't mind ya drawing on me a little. Just the arms though, of course."
He stills suddenly after the excitement building in him from you mentioning other stuff dissipates, and he looks down at you, clearly a little confused. You quickly realize how strange that might've sounded. "O-oh, nah, I.. I draw on myself all the time, don't worry, aha. Just hearts usually, but yeah. Just don't make it anything too embarrassing, alright?"
He's unresponsive for a few seconds, but slowly reaches down for the pen. He retrieves it, and you leave your arm right where it is, somewhat having to lean forward to plant it on the upper opposite part of the desk.
He looks into your eyes, a little too long. You have to break eye contact before your cheeks warm a little, unless you want to give him something else to tease about.
He gently presses a hand against your arm, and grins. "..Mmmh, wwwwwell, Sunflower, if you want more markings from us~."
You scoff, and rub your neck with your free hand. "Not like that you weirdo. You're drawing on me, not biting me. This time."
He crouches down to a comfortable position, positioning your arm as he readies his right hand to draw. "Mmhm." His big smug smile teases you, it annoys you in a way where you wanna kiss it off him.
The pen tickles the top of your hand as he carefully glides along it. "Hey, I'm serious, nothing embarrassing, alright? My neck is enough, I really hope I have something to cover this."
He doesn't look away from your hand as he starts another drawing a little bit next to the first. "Luckily for you, we're satisfied."
You sigh. You can barely look over the desk to your hand from where he's holding it, half shielding it from your view, half holding it still. "..You better be. You know how easy it is for these weirdos here to tease."
He proceeds to another little sketch lower on your hand, it not taking very long before he's at the top of your wrist. "..Nuh-uh, you just make it easy, Sunflower."
You squint your eyes, like you're surprised and don't realize your lack of ability to keep the secret that you're dating robots. "..W-wow, okay. Not.. not like you help either, mister can't-stand-me-not-wearing-these-earrings."
He repeats the same sensation drawing on your forearm that he did with your hand. "Mmh, nonono, they just look especially cute on you. He looks up to lock eyes with you, before deviating a little below them. "Juuuust like the marks on your neck do~."
You exhale sharply and lower your head, hopefully before he notices your face stiffen and burn red. "You're actually insufferable."
He finishes his work on your arm, satisfied. "Oh, absolutely terrible, yesyes."
He releases your arm, and you recall it, bringing it under your eyes, your head still somewhat hidden behind the opposite elevated part of the desk.
You smile, and your mouth parts a little in awe admiring his work.
On your hand, there's a sun, similar to the gift you made him on your first day here, next to that, closest to your thumb, is a crescent moon, a four point star inside the empty space, resembling the earring Moon recreated for you. Under that, above your wrist, is a heart. God, you said nothing embarrassing.
Right under the top of your wrist, is two little candies, one with a small sun in the middle, ruffled wrapping on either side, the other similar, but instead having a crescent moon in the middle of the circle. Besides not being colored, they're really good replications of the originals you've seen on posters, and the moondrop Sun gave you after you got back from the hospital the first time after Moon.. yeah.
You try not to think about your first interactions with him.
On your forearm is a larger replication of the symbols on your hand, the only difference being the sun further up your arm, a larger four point star in the middle, and a crescent moon next to them, being closest to your wrist, but this time, it has a little heart in the empty space.
Sun can't see your reaction, so he whines pitifully. "..W-we wish we could've colored them."
You look up, your face finally relieving him as he notices the faint fluster and admiration of his work. You giggle. "..They're really cute anyway, b-but I said nothing embarrassing, you dork."
"What's embarrassing about it!?" He straightens up and plants his hands on his hips.
You roll your eyes and look away with a smile, glancing at your arm before you stare over at the slumber party box and the one that contained Sun's new clothes.
Your eye catches the Monty plushie sitting on the desk, and Sun traces your eyes to it after you stare a little too long.
He relaxes his posture, bending down to rest on his knees as he rests his arms on the table, his head on top of them. "..Monty.. he, uhm, got reprogrammed, at the very least.."
You're surprised at his expression when you turn to face him. He seems somber?
"Sun, he almost got me killed." You slip out the words almost automatically.
His eyes lock with yours, before he averts them absently at the desk he's resting on. "..You're right. But.." He whines. "..Reprogramming.. it isn't good, not at all."
You're a little gentler this time with your words. "..Sorry. But, Sunny, he had plenty of chances to chill out. It's inexcusable what he did."
"He.. he wasn't always that way. Before.. before Bonnie, he wasn't very mean, nono." His shoulders drop a little further.
You're.. confused. "..Didn't he.. uh, decommission Bonnie himself..?"
His eyes return to you. "It wasn't his fault. Bonnie tried to help us, oh Bon.. h-he.. connected to us. We didn't know the same thing would happen to him. Not.. nono, not even the firewalls helped.."
"What? What thing? Sun, he.. he boasted about taking out Bonnie."
He suddenly plants his face into the table. "I-It's the only way he can cope with killing him. We put up different walls to keep ourselves safe from being vulnerable.. Monty's.. are not very good, nono.. n-not at all."
Sun grips at his rays, and you call out to him. "H-hey, Sun, we don't have to talk about this anymore."
He doesn't respond.
"..W-whatever is inside of me, it infected Bonnie the same it did to Foxy! Monty.. protected us.. All my fault. All my fault. Shouldn't.. sh-shouldn't have let him, we.. should've known!."
His voice box glitches with static.
He clumsily grabs the table, and pulls himself to his feet.
His eyes are wide and unmoving while he stumbles to the side of the desk, towards the Daycare doors, his rays pulsing as fast as they're spinning. His arm wraps around his abdomen like he's sick, the other raising in preparation.
Your heart pounds as you struggle to turn on your FazWatch, watching as his body tenses and jolts, your eyes bounding between him and searching for the control app.
As soon as he's in range of the light switch, he dives towards it, falling.
His hand hits it, and the Daycare goes dark.
You listen as the Daycare Theme silences, and Sun's mechanical parts click as he transforms into Moon.
The sun and clouds under the balcony turn and hide behind the castle cutout above, trading places with a crescent moon. Thousands of stars glow on the ceiling, shining down just enough light for you to check on Moon.
You push yourself up from your chair and rush over to him after steadying your breathing, still a little weak from adrenaline.
Moon presses a hand to the ground, supporting himself up onto his knees.
You wait for him to collect himself.
"..You okay, Moonie?"
He groans, adjusting his nightcap. "..Mmh, Sun needs to learn how to listen."
You sigh. "I'm sure he was trying his best." You reach for his hand, at the very least gesturing him to his feet since you're definitely not strong enough to lift him.
He stands, towering over you even while he's slouching. "I'm going to give him time to cool off regardless. Mmh.. is the control app working?"
You return back to the side of the desk, moving the Monty plushie to the side and straining yourself up to sit on the edge. "..Ah, I.. dunno, I didn't get to it."
"Check."
"What?"
"Check if it works."
He slowly walks over to you, placing a hand on the desk right next to you. "We need to make sure."
You sigh. "Ugh.. yeah, okay. Fine."
You turn on your watch, and navigate to where you originally unpacked the app. You open it, and the UI isn't completely a disaster. At least it has presets.
Moon watches as you explore the surprisingly few options.
"Activate 'paralysis'." He points to the corresponding button on the touch screen.
You look up to him. "..That doesn't sound fun. Why don't we just.. test the strength limiters?"
He lowers himself to the ground, resting his back against the security desk. "This is safer, Starlight. Please." He doesn't like being out of control, but he trusts you.
You scoot off the desk, and position yourself on your knees in front of him. "Okay, but, I'm disabling it immediately after, alright?"
"Fine."
"..Ready?"
"Yes."
You press the activation button, a prompt popping up confirming you're sure. You hit it.
Moon winces and falls limp, his white eyes flickering, and you immediately press to deactivate the preset.
"..M-Moon, fuck, are you okay?" You catch his head, him likely falling over if you left the preset activated for any longer.
He shuts his eyes for a second before opening them, white pinprick light disappearing, then returning. "L-Language."
He composes himself, growling a little at the overwhelming automatic response, and the initial pain. He sighs. "..Mmmh, yes.. Okay."
You turn of the watch and reach for his hand. "It sounded like it hurt. Did it?"
He's silent as you pull his hand to your lap, you on the ground in front of him, having shuffled up on your knees between his legs. You hold his with both of your hands, the cool sensation is refreshing to you as much as your touch is relieving to him.
"Moon." You look up at him, urging an honest response.
He groans. "..It is nothing we can not handle. If the need arises, do not hesitate."
He sits up, and places his other hand on top of yours, painted with the drawings Sun made. "Please, Limelight. Promise."
You tense, not liking the idea.. but, of course, you'll do it if absolutely necessary.
"..Promise."
He hums, satisfied. He leans in and plants a kiss on the top of your head. "..Good, little star."
Leaning back, he begins to stand. "Tou-" He corrects himself, "Date."
You smile up at him from the ground. "O-okay, but only if you show me some of your old poems and lullabies, okay?"
He walks over to the light switch, and spins his head back to look at you, the white glow in his eyes soft and his smile warm. "..I just might write some more, for you, Starlight."
Butterflies, your tummy feels funny. "O-okay. See ya in the Fazcade, Moonie."
He chuckles. "Mmmh, sugar." He flips the switch.
You lift yourself to your feet as Sun's rays poke out one by one. The Daycare Theme returns softly above you.
Sun stumbles, then stiffens himself before jolting his eyes up to you with a frown. "O-oh, gosh.. S-sorry.. nonono, too close, not good at all.." He starts fidgeting with his rays.
You walk over to him. "It's okay, you did good. We should.. probably be prepared before talking about stuff like that.." You take both of his hands in yours.
"For now, we've got a date." You lead him over to the desk.
His smile returns when you look back at him, one hand guiding him to the front of the desk before letting go and looping around behind to gather up your computer and prepare your leftovers to go in the breakroom fridge.
Sun's warmth returns. "..Mmh, o-okay, okay.. Oh, gosh.. sososo much to do, exciting!"
You take your computer and food to the side of the desk. "Heck yeah, gimme a sec to get my backpack situated."
Sun nods enthusiastically, walking over to the same side you're at and wobbling left to right with anticipation.
You put your laptop in the bag, and look up to the Monty plushie. You sigh, and stuff in it one of the smaller alternative pockets. "No rush to deal with him."
Sun's movement slows a little. "Y-yeah."
You swing the backpack over your shoulder, and collect the bag of leftovers. "Oookay, uh, shoot. Do you think you have anything to cover up.." You tilt your head a little to expose the hickeys and bite marks on your neck.
You think a little about what else you should get done first, ignoring his smug little grin. "Oh, and I'm gonna go ahead and brush my teeth. Hygiene and all, duh. Probably brush my hair too."
Sun hums, acknowledging your suggestions, and wanders off to the closet at the opposite side of the desk. You set your food down and retrieve the bag full of your stay-the-night products and a charger from the slumber party box.
Swinging your backpack in front of you, you stuff the charger in, and wait for Sun to cease his digging in the Daycare's closet.
You sigh realizing what he's returning with.
Red ribbons, similar to the ones wrapped around his wrist.
He's grinning at your obvious disapproval. "Mmmh, either this, or you can show everyone~"
You sigh, defeated, and hesitantly reach for them before he pulls them away and lowers to his knees, wrapping them neatly around your neck himself. Not too tight, not too rough.
He microadjusts them, making sure the little ribbon he tied it off with is pretty and perfect to match its wearer.
Your face is gonna match the color of the ribbons if he keeps this up, his rays adjust ever so slightly right in front of your eyes, and you can feel his warmth against your skin.
He pulls back to admire his work. "Mmh, pretty, pretty..The ribbons are cute too~."
You can't help but smile and roll your eyes at the stupid cliche. "..Uh-huh."
"Oh." You turn and hurry over to the security desk. "Can I, uh, keep the list? It's really cute. You have everything memorized, right? Atrium, bakery, Rockstar row, Fazerblast-"
He finishes for you. "Fazcade, and the Theater! Yesyes! Of course you can keep it, Sunflower."
You giggle. "Alright, alright. I'm sure you wanna hurry, c'mon." You tuck his cute little to-do list into one of the empty drawers under the desk.
"Mhmmm~!" He fidgets with his hands and leans on his feet, back and forth, alternating from his heels to his tippy toes in anticipation as you gather your things.
You check your watch, it only being a little past noon. Lots of time. You walk over to him, practically beaming with impatience.
You look up into his eyes. "Okay, so, put up the leftovers, brush teeth, brush hair, then.."
His eyes sparkle with excitement. "Date!"
You giggle. "Mhmm, Date."
