"All right. After that exciting pilot battle…we are stoked for this next one. This is a creature from the depths of the pond! Its shell is super strong. And it's one of the original starters!" Vi Per said as a Pokeball was tossed out and opened. "The Tiny Turtle! Squirtle!" she said as a Squirtle popped out.
"Oh, yeah! That's a pretty nice Squirtle." David said.
"What is it about Squirtle that's got you so hyped up?" Zacian asked.
"Well, it's a little embarrassing to admit, but… Whenever I start up my own file in a Pokemon game, I always go for the Water-type starter." David said. "That's why I picked Mudkip back in Hoenn."
"That's a pretty cool way to play." Hope said.
"Yeah, sticking with one type really lets you develop your strategic thinking." Mark agreed. "Gotta plan for those Type-advantage Gyms, after all."
"Especially considering a lot of early gyms in the older generations were usually Rock-Type gyms." Sunset said.
"Grass-types would probably work on that front too." Leia said.
"All the same, there is some merit to that kind of planning." Nesma said.
"So…uh…who's going to fight the turtle?" Theo asked.
"Alright, I'll do it." Arctozolt said.
"And the opponent for this fight is a predator from long ago. A frozen dino with a sparking heart! The Frozen Fossil! Arctozolt!" Vi Per said. "And the fighting location…the Fountain of Dreams!" she said as they appeared in said fountain. "Now…fight!"
"All right…here it comes. Bolt Beak!" Arctozolt said coming at Squirtle as the tiny turtle withdrew into his shell. "Hmm…only…how about…Icicle Crash!" he called out as an icicle fell on the turtle, sending it spinning towards the edge before Squirtle emerged and rocketed to the middle using water.
"Alright… Thunder Punch!" Arctozolt said as he charged with a lightning-imbued fist. He managed to land a strike on Squirtle as the Pokémon retreated back into his shell and spun right into Arctozolt.
"Wow, Arctozolt is really holding his own. He's grown quite a bit since Violight." David said.
"Well he and I have done some training since then." Dracozolt said.
"And it really shows. You two barely seem like the same Pokémon as back then." Omnimon said.
"And Arctozolt…is no longer so slow." Dracozolt said.
"Hail!" Arctozolt said as hail started to fall as Arctozolt quickly sped up and started rapidly striking Squirtle.
"I see. It's using the Slush Rush ability." Titanica said.
"Slush Rush? Isn't that his Hidden Ability? How did he get that?" Mayumi asked.
"He likely used an Ability Patch to change his ability." Starlight said. "It lets a Pokémon move faster but only when it's hailing."
"Almost like Froslass' Snow Cloak." David said.
"Close, Froslass' Snow Cloak raises her evasion in a hailstorm." Galarian Articuno said. "Speed and evasion are two different things."
"But what you all see now, is the new and improved Arctozlot." Dracozolt said.
"And one more and…POW!" Arctozolt said as he sent Squirtle flying out of the arena as the turtle was returned to his Pokeball.
"And the battle is over! Our winner is Arctozolt!" Vi Per said.
As Arctozolt returned, he looked to the trainer in the stands as he had a serious look as he tossed his only remaining Pokéball up and down.
"Whoa, he's really getting riled up now. He only has one Pokemon left." Dracozolt said.
"Yes… One that some of us know very well." Dynasmon said.
"...Charizard." Kokoro said.
"He's just patiently waiting for his turn. And when it comes…he's gonna pull out all the stops. Can't wait till then." Titanica said. "None of us can."
