Disclaimer… I don't own anybody or anything in this story. I didn't even write the first few sentences… it wasn't meant to even be fanfiction. It started out as a assignment for school so ya…
Sophie leaned forward and kissed him again, now on the lips. Their bodies came together, softly at first, and then completely. When she pulled away, her eyes were full of promise. Leaning back, Sophie rested her head on Robert's shoulder as his arms encompassed her waist, pulling her closer. They watched the remainder of the sunlight fade away on the horizon and the stars began to come out.
"Sophie, we should probably go inside. It's getting late and I really should go in the morning. Sophie?" There was no answer and Robert smiled to himself. It seemed that Sophie had fallen asleep in his arms. He carefully picked her up and carried her back inside her grandmother's house.
A few minutes later, Langdon came back outside and sat down on the porch step. A lot had happened in the past few hours and it was almost too much to process in such a short period of time. Even some of the easiest things to understand still baffled him. Marie had said that Sophie's grandfather's poem would make sense to him at the most unexpected time. However, he was not so sure he wanted to know anymore. There had to be a reason the Priory wanted to keep it a secret…But why?
After all the events of tonight, he thought he understood the reason. What was the point of turning most of western society upside down? People have been quite happy believing what they believe for the past 2000 years. Maybe it was just like he said earlier, "Every faith in the world is based on a fabrication. That is the definition of faith – acceptance of which we imagine to be true, that which we cannot prove." This just happens to be one of the biggest fabrications of them all.
