The news of our engagement spread just as quickly as the news of our relationship. Those who are closest to us were hardly surprised. Who cared what everyone else thought?

It's been a few months now and Draco and I have settled into wedding planning. Narcissa has been a huge help and I look forward to our glorious day next year.

Speaking of Narcissa, she officially adopted Bryson. She has loved having another little boy in the house and Draco has been giving him flying lessons in his spare time. He always wanted a little brother or sister and I can see him thriving with the opportunity to be someone he can look up to.

It's been a real treat to see Draco interact with him and he's even gone to the school a few times to help him practice flying to help him catch up to the others and hopefully make the team next year. He says he's a natural and it's lovely to see the fatherly side of him.

As we sit in the backyard of our newly purchased home, I stare out into the sunset and take a deep breath. Draco is next to me, singing a new song that's so full of happiness and life that I can't help but smile as I think about what brought us here.

Neither of us had ideal childhoods by any stretch. We were on two very different sides of the war and with even one small change, life could have been so dramatically different.

Or would it? Maybe it was meant to be all along. Maybe if there had been one small change, our whole future would have been rerouted. What if Harry had defeated Voldemort in our first year? There's a high probability I would have never even become an auror if it wasn't what we went through in our later teenage years. Would Draco have ever been able to get out from under his father's shadow and discover his own ideals?

I try not to dwell on it too much. This is the hand that life dealt us and I appreciate every second of it. Every hardship and triumph we went through led us to where we are today. A life filled with love, peace, happiness, joy and endless possibilities for our future. Yeah, life is pretty amazing.

Draco strums the final notes of his song and looks up at me. "Love, are you crying? Is everything ok?"

He wipes away a stray tear with the pad of his thumb and I smile. "Everything is perfect. Just as it's meant to be."

He returns my smile and my insides melt. This right here is my very own happy ending.
