chaos entered the hangar that contained KOS-MOS' charging pod and walked up to the black monolith. He ran his gloved hand across the surface and smiled. It had been one year to the day since they met and the android was progressing well in fulfilling her destiny. chaos opened the pod to see the still form of KOS-MOS lying serenely in the bed. Her crimson eyes opened and focused on the silver-haired man.
"Greetings chaos, do you require assistance?" she asked as she sat up. chaos smiled again and shook his head.
"No, I just thought I would see how you were doing. Shion told me that you were awakened the day we met and it's been one year since, so I suppose that would make this your birthday?" he said, watching her as she climbed out of the pod. He admired her unwavering grace and beauty. chaos stopped for a moment. 'Is it wrong to feel this way?' He asked himself, 'She is just an android after all…' Another side of him spoke up then, 'Not for long.' chaos was snapped back to his senses when KOS-MOS spoke.
"Your concern is unnecessary, but… appreciated…" chaos raised an eyebrow at that. 'She's learning.' KOS-MOS continued. "I do not mean to offend you, but your supposition is incorrect. It is indeed one year to the day since my awakening and, subsequently, our meeting, but I was not born. Instead, I was built in a lab on Second Miltia." chaos smiled.
"I suppose your right. But I still consider it your birthday." He said.
"As you wish," KOS-MOS stated emotionlessly. The next few minutes passed in silence.
"KOS-MOS…" chaos said, "I've always wondered…" his voice trailed off, unsure.
"Yes, chaos?" KOS-MOS pressed. chaos sighed and continued.
"I've always wondered… what your skin feels like." KOS-MOS watched him with her emotionless face, giving no immediate response. chaos removed one of his gloves and raised his hand up to her face and stopped short. "May I?" he asked. KOS-MOS stared at his hand for a few seconds before nodding her head. chaos placed his hand on her pale cheek, slightly surprised to find it soft and warm. "Warm…?" he muttered.
"The warmth of my body is generated by the heat from my gears and servos in motion. An internal cooling system keeps it at an average of 98.6 degrees, that of the average human." KOS-MOS stated. chaos stroked her cheek with his thumb and moved his hand to her chin, tilting her face to his level. They stared at each other for a few minutes, before chaos moved his face closer to hers. He paused, waiting for her reaction. Taking her stillness as a sign to continue, he pressed his lips against hers. They stayed in that position for what seemed like eternity to chaos. chaos was about to break the kiss when he felt KOS-MOS' hands pull him closer and her lips begin to move against his. chaos moved his other hand to her face and deepened the kiss further. After seconds that seemed like hours they separated and chaos was not surprised to find that her crimson eyes had turned into a translucent blue that rivaled his own cerulean ones.
"I learned from watching Allen and Shion," KOS-MOS said with a loving smile. chaos kissed her briefly again and pulled away.
"I should go and thank them, right now," he said with a smile. KOS-MOS' eyes shifted back to deep crimson.
"I will store the data collected from this experience in my memory banks for future reference." She stated with her emotionless voice. chaos nodded and guided her back to her pod. She climbed in and lied down. As the pod closed, KOS-MOS closed her eyes and chaos could have sworn he saw a shadow of a smile on her pale lips. chaos chuckled as he replaced his glove and walked to the door, wearing the biggest smile he ever had in his life. 'She really is learning...' chaos turned back one last time and looked at the pod that contained his love. "Happy Birthday…" he whispered and left.
