In this chapter, Mary will meet Ron's family.
Well, she's already met some of them. But she hasn't met Ron's parents yet. And she hasn't met Ginny.
You might be expecting her to play the role she did in the second book.
Well, let's just say I like to subvert people's expectations.
Oh, and I'm also going to include a sci-fi horror movie reference.
Try to guess which one.
Chapter 15: The Not Weasly Weasleys
Though Mary was grateful that she wouldn't be in danger from the monster living in Hogwarts, there was one problem.
With the window boarded up, there was no way she could send Hedwig to send Dumbledore a letter.
Which meant she couldn't explain why she was not going back to school.
Perhaps he would send Hagrid to find out what was going on.
That was more or less what happened last year, when the Dursleys kept refusing the letters Hogwarts sent them.
Her aunt and uncle likely wouldn't be happy if he showed up again. She'd warn them, but the door was locked too.
She recalled mistaking her for an axe murderer. Ironic considering the two of them were friends now.
She had decided to let Hedwig out of her bird cage for the time being. She felt sorry for Mary being caged up like an animal (thoughnshe personally didn't mind her own cage, given how clean it was)…so Mary decided she could be outside for the time being.
But at that very moment, somebody showed up to give her a helping hand.
It was the Weasleys, with a flying Ford.
They were Ron, Fred, and George.
"Ron? Is that you?" asked Mary.
She wasn't expecting them to show up in the middle of the night.
And she certainly wasn't expecting him to be in a flying car.
And yet, here they were.
"We're here to help you get to Hogwarts!" exclaimed Ron.
"But it's not safe this year…" explained the girl.
"We have Chocolate Frogs." pointed out Fred, who was at the wheel.
"Chocolate Frogs?!" exclaimed Mary, her eyes widening with excitement underneath her glasses.
This seemed like too good of an opportunity to pass up. Besides, what if she got an ultra rare card, like she did last time?
So she decided to hop aboard…once the bars had been removed from her window.
Since it was a flying vehicle, Mary was extra careful to buckle her seatbelt. She didn't have her broom with her.
It looked big enough to hold eight people, so it was a big car.
And it would certainly have enough room to store Hedwig.
However, she forgot the bird cage.
"Whoops!" exclaimed Mary.
Luckily, Hedwig didn't make a break for it.
She and Mary were close.
Vernon noticed the flying car outside his house.
"Oh c'mon!" exclaimed the man.
Was there no way for him to stop Mary from going back to Hogwarts?
Because he was about to throw in the towel.
"I wish my dad had a car like that." remarked Dudley.
He would never have to worry about traffic jams ever again.
As soon as Petunia saw the flying car, she fainted.
Dobby discovered that Mary was inside the vehicle.
He couldn't allow her to board the Hogwarts Express.
So he decided he was going to take some action.
Mary noticed him running after the car.
No doubt he was trying to apparate her back into her house.
Well, she already got her Chocolate Frogs, so she wasn't complaining.
One of the cards she got was Armando Dippet.
It seemed Dumbledore wasn't always headmaster. He used to answer to Armando Dippet, before Armando decided to retire…after 250 years.
Would Dumbledore retire someday? Hagrid would likely be upset when that happened. Though considering how long Armando lived (not as long as Nicolas Flamel did, but still pretty impressive), that probably wasn't going to happen during her stay at Hogwarts.
He'd been headmaster for quite some time though.
Maybe Dobby had a handkerchief he could use to wipe the chocolate off her face.
However, Fred and George noticed as well.
"I wonder why that house elf is after us." remarked George.
Ron wondered that himself.
However, he then noticed something on the floor of the car.
"I think dad left his wallet in here." said Ron.
Sure enough, there it was.
"He must be after Dad's wallet!" exclaimed Fred, unaware of what Dobby was really after.
His eyes widened in fear.
Why did he think that? Dobby looked like he was broke. He was dressed in rags.
"Don't worry, there's no way he can get up here." assured George.
House-elves could use magic, but they couldn't fly.
Dobby whistled, and an owl suddenly grabbed his shoulders.
He then began to fly towards the car.
George gasped. It looked like he had spoken too soon.
"We can't let him steal the wallet! Imagine the consequences of someone stealing the identity of someone who's a head of office at the Ministry of Magic!" exclaimed Fred.
The scandal would make it to the Daily Prophet, that was for sure.
That was something none of the Weasleys were looking forward to.
Fortunately, George remembered that there was an option to make the car invisible.
Now seemed like a good time to use that.
The car disappeared…
…but Dobby tossed orange paint on it, making it visible again.
"This house-elf's good." remarked Ron.
Dobby grabbed onto the trunk with two crowbars.
He then began damaging the windshield with them.
"I sure hope they can get that fixed." thought Mary.
Luckily, none of the glass hit her.
Dobby tried to reach through the hole he made, but Hedwig pecked his fingers.
"Ow!" exclaimed the house elf.
Luckily, he was no stranger to pain. Such was the woes of living life with the Malfoys.
Suddenly, Ron noticed that they were heading straight towards a hotel.
Quickly, Fred and George changed direction before they crashed.
Dobby fell off the vehicle..and landed on top of a tree.
He ended up getting hit by several branches as he hit the ground.
"Ow! Dobby hit his nose!" shouted the house elf.
Good thing he didn't have a nosebleed.
"I think we lost him!" exclaimed Ron.
However, Mary got the feeling this wouldn't be the last she saw of him.
He seemed awfully persistent.
And he really didn't want her going back to Hogwarts.
Ron, Fred, and George took Mary to their house. It was known as the Burrow.
It wasn't underground, however. It looked like a house and a office building put together. Which was kind of appropriate considering that Weasleys had a tendency to work for the Ministry of Magic.
"So, is this where you live…and where you are when you're not at Hogwarts." noted Mary.
She could see a gnome burrowing around.
Outside the Burrow was a sign saying "We Assure You, We Have Souls."
"I never suspected they didn't." remarked Mary.
Maybe because she herself was a ginger?
Anyways, she was looking forward to meeting Ron's parents.
She never got to know her own parents, so she might as well get to know his.
However, Molly Weasley (the mother of the Weasley family) was not happy with her three sons.
People assumed that redheads were fiery. Well, for the most part, that wasn't true with the Weasleys. But Molly Weasley was the exception.
She assumed that her sons had decided to take her husband (and their father's) car out for a joyride.
"What were you thinking? Because of you, the rear window of the car is smashed, and it's covered in orange paint!" exclaimed Molly.
It was going to cost money to repair the rear window, and it was going to cost money to get the car washed too.
And to make matters worse, they had done so in a neighborhood full of Muggles.
"You should be ashamed of yourselves. Your father is going to hear about this. Make no mistake!" bellowed Mrs. Weasley.
"We just wanted to make sure Mary got to Hogwarts!" exclaimed George.
"They boarded up her room so she couldn't leave!" shouted Fred.
"Alright, but you had better not take the car without permission again. I'm warning you." warned Molly Weasley.
And Arthur (her husband) was still going to hear about it.
He showed up in the chimney.
"Would you please ask for permission next time? I can get the car fixed, but still." said Arthur.
"Hmm…Arthur is much more even-tempered than his wife." noted Mary.
However, they did not seem to be in an abusive relationship.
Arthur introduced himself to Mary, shaking her hand.
"You live with Muggles, do you not? You'll be pleased to know that I support the welfare of Muggles." noted the man.
Mary was indeed happy to hear that.
Her mother was part of a family of Muggles, after all.
"So, are you taking me to Hogwarts?" asked Mary.
"You need to get your school supplies first." answered Molly.
"Oh, right." recalled the girl. She couldn't go to Hogwarts, without them, could she?
Suddenly, Ginny showed up.
She was the youngest of the Weasleys.
She noticed Mary, and her eyes widened in surprise.
"Mary Potter is in my house?!" exclaimed the girl. She was a huge Mary Potter fangirl.
She must be dreaming.
However, she then realized she wasn't dreaming when Mary shook her hand, and she felt it.
"This is the best day of my life." spoke Ginny.
"I'm having a good day too!" exclaimed Mary.
Ginny was very pleased to hear that.
"I'm so happy you're going to Hogwarts with me this year!" cheered the Weasley girl.
"I'm happy too." nodded Mary.
Though perhaps she should take precautions to defend herself from her threat.
She should pay close attention to whoever replaced Quirrell after his arrest.
"So, are we going to apparate to get to the shops? Because I got trouble for alleged apparition recently." explained Mary.
"What happened?" asked Ron.
"A house elf apparated into my house…and back again." clarified the girl.
Did house-elves have an apparition license by any chance? Because he didn't seem to suffer from splinching…not that she wanted that to happen to him.
"What were the chances of that?" questioned the ginger boy.
Mary shrugged.
"Well, surely he had a good reason." remarked Ron.
Usually house elves obeyed the law. Just as they obeyed their masters.
"He said that Hogwarts was going to be dangerous this year." noted Mary. It seemed that there was a monster that had been hiding the entire time, and now it was going to come out of hiding. Was there a way to stop it? Dobby didn't seem to think there was.
"He did? Well, don't worry, Albus Dumbledore is keeping the school safe." remarked Ron.
Voldemort himself wouldn't assault the castle with him around.
"That's reassuring." remarked the girl.
"We're not going to apparate. It's too much of a hassle to apparate all of us. Instead, we'll be using the floo network." explained Molly Weasley.
"The flu network? I don't know, that might make us ill." warned Mary.
Fred and George chuckled.
"No, Mary. The floo network. With two oos. We use them to travel from chimney to chimney." explained Molly Weasley.
With permission, they could visit other wizards this way.
And they could certainly go to the local wizardry shops.
In order to use the floo network, you needed floo powder…which was luckily inexpensive, so the Weasleys could afford it.
"Do you know who made floo powder?" asked Arthur.
"Santa Claus?" questioned Mary.
Fred and George laughed very hard.
"You should go to a comedy club!" exclaimed George.
"They have a comedy club at Hogwarts?" asked Mary.
"They might someday." answered Fred.
"No, dear. It was Ignatia Wildsmith. But good guess!" exclaimed Molly.
In order to use the Floo Network, somebody just had to say where they wished to go and step in the flames.
"We're going to step into flames?" asked Mary.
"Don't worry, it's safe. I've used it many times." noted Arthur.
Mary found that reassuring.
"Now then, where did I go last year for school supplies?" questioned the girl.
She remembered it…or so she thought.
"Dragon Alley!" exclaimed Mary.
She found herself in an entirely different place instead.
Meanwhile, Dobby apparated outside the Burrow. He still had some leaves on him.
He couldn't apparate inside the house, for there was a barrier preventing him from doing so.
Most wizards had these to prevent breaking and entering.
Hogwarts was no exception.
He knocked on the door, but he found that nobody was there.
"Oh no!" exclaimed Dobby.
It seemed that he was too late.
What was he going to do now?
Suddenly, he had an idea.
What if he were to prevent Mary and Ginny from boarding the Hogwarts Express?
That ought to stop them from getting to Hogwarts.
Mary would be safe from his master, and Ginny wouldn't awaken the monster that he feared so much.
It seemed like a good plan.
He just hoped that he made it to the Hogwarts Express on time.
Though considering Mary and Ginny didn't have their licenses yet (and they still needed to purchase their school supplies), perhaps he would make it in time.
It was a happy thought.
Meanwhile, at Malfoy Manor, Draco Malfoy received a letter from 4 Privet Drive.
"Oh look! Mary wrote back!" exclaimed Draco.
He hasn't been expecting that.
He read the letter.
Dear Whoever-You-Are,
How dare you make fun of me! Do you know who you're dealing with? You're dealing with Vernon Dursley! I'm going to KICK YOUR ASS!
From Vernon Dursley. Wait, I already said my name, didn't I?
Draco Malfoy fainted.
It looked like Draco got what he deserved.
In the next chapter, Mary will discover that the way to the Hogwarts Express has been blocked!
How will she get to Hogwarts now?
There's got to be a way, right?
Oh, and I'll also like to assure you I didn't make the Harry Potter movies.
If I said that, Warner Bros would tie me to the train tracks of the Hogwarts Express…well, I think we all know what would happen next. And I do not intend to become one of the many ghosts haunting Hogwarts Castle.
See ya!
