The one man Nyx threw scrambled up back on his feet and retreated back from her.
"This kid broke your leg, R.V?" The other man asked, pointing the bolt cutters at her confusedly.
Nyx looked between the men before pointing at the Wolfman's cage and shook her head no at them as hard as she could before digging her notepad and pen out and writing, "Wolfman bad, don't go near him!!" And held it out to them.
If they can't read, she does have a poorly premade drawing of him with a red circle with a slash strikethrough it just in case.
"Step aside brat, we're here on a mission." R.V grunted, pointing at her before turning back to his friends. "Franks, Bryan hurry up and free the creature!" He barked at them.
The ones named Franks and Bryan looked at each other before Bryan - the one Nyx threw aside went back towards the cage.
When he went to push the little vampire aside, Nyx reacted being touched and pushed him with a shout, having him stumble and run into Franks.
Knocked both of them into the cage and landed on the ground, causing Franks to drop the bolt cutters.
Nyx and R.V looked at the cutters, briefly looked at each other before both lunged out for it.
Nyx was faster than him and grabbed them without a problem.
As soon as she grabbed them, she felt her ankle was grabbed by the other guys and pulled on her.
She falls to the ground before giving them a harsh, bone crunching kick to the face to have them let go.
Blood splattered, the scent quickly filled her senses, Franks was screaming in pain, his hands covering his nose as blood just poured from his shattered nostrils.
As Bryan was trying to help his fellow Eco Warrior, Nyx scrambles up and away from them, holding the bolt cutters close to her chest. Her tiny heart was nearly pounding out of her body. The sight and smell of blood smelt wonderful but this wasn't a time to think about feeding!
I-I gotta get Mr. Tall! Nyx frantically thought as she stepped-
Crack!
Something hard bashed the back of her skull, eyes flashed white.
Pain, all Nyx knew was pain. Trying to get up from the cold hard cracked tiled floor, hands slipping, unable to get support as fresh blood pooled beneath her in her attempt to flee.
Pushing herself as much as she could, she heard heavy footsteps approaching her. His shadow cloaked his "assistant". One hand reached down and grabbed the back of her neck, holding her in place before taking his other hand, his long nails pierced deeply in her back and carved into her.
Nyx's throat burned as she screamed.
Countless blows were made to her head, chest and back, kicks, cuts, all the moments of him pinning her down, violating her to the fullest extent. Nothing but pain in this neverending Hell!
Nyx's heartbeat became slow, going into an odd rhythm as her vision went in and out. Finding herself lying on the ground.
Seeing almost stilled images of R.V wobbling over to the cage with the cutters, stepping past the other two. Seeing R.V working on the cage, ranting something incoherent in her ringing ears.
Each second past as her vision was coming back, the whole scene itself was turning red, glaring fully on the one that hit her.
One eye began glowing, so did her other eye, the odd rhythm in her heartbeat quickened to the point it felt like it was going to combust as pain writhed within her.
Nyx began grunting and groaning as she moved, getting on her hands and knees. Her body and muscles began to throb. Her already pale skin turned gray, her white hair seemed to look more wild than it normally was. Her nails grew slightly longer and turned inky black. Her face became twisted and contorted into something completely terrifying. The sounds she was making were not human at all.
R.V, as he snapped one last chain, began hearing Nyx and her inhuman sounds. He whipped his head around and his eyes widened.
Nyx tilted her head back and let out a ferocious roar. The three men saw the flesh from either side of her lips rip apart, splitting the skin almost all the way to her ears, revealing a long row of elongated sharp razor pointed teeth.
The creature was finally out, and it was hungry.
"What the actual hell?" R.V cursed.
Not paying attention, the Wolfman lunged, knocking the cage door wide open, sending R.V hurling into the ground.
And not a minute later, The Wolfman was on him. The Eco Warrior tried defending and pleading with the creature that he was a friend before being cut off by large jaws piercing into his cheek and nose and ripping his face.
As the others were frozen in terror as screams echoed, Nyx turned her attention to them. Blood stunk the air so much it was intoxicating.
And before Franks knew it, Nyx was on him with a snarl. Lunging at him, digging her nails deeply into his white shirt, soaking it more in blood as she pushed him down to the ground. He tried but failed to push this creature off before she sank her sharp teeth deeply into the man's neck. She shook her head violently, ripping and tearing flesh and muscle like a rabid animal, drinking in the now free flowing blood.
Tongue lapping the nectar of life, her body shivered in delight as the man's meek attempt to stop her stilled, going limp as he was now a feast for this demonic like creature.
Bryan let out a frightening scream before he bolted out of there. Away from the monsters and ran for his life!
The Wolfman let up from his meal. Bits of hair and flesh clung to his now red stained teeth. He growled and left the corpse on the ground and ran after Bryan.
Nyx grunted and moaned as she finished with her kill before she saw the Wolfman take off, she went after him.
Bryan was running through the camp screaming, shouting about monsters being loose. Quickly attracting attention from the residential freaks and workers.
Soon, a lot of people were screaming once the Wolfman came running up to view. A lot of those who were not physically capable of handling him went into hiding for safety.
Bryan tried to run into one of the tents before tripping on a rock and tumbled to the ground.
He sits up and just catches seeing nothing but brown fur and sharp teeth coming to his eyes.
Nyx launches up onto the Wolfman's back before he could kill the human. Wrapping her arms around his neck and torso, slashing and piercing her claws in his thick side and shoulders with a feral hiss.
The Wolfman let out a howl as he reached his hands around, shaking his body, trying to throw Nyx off of him.
She ended up biting and piercing her fangs into the Wolfman's shoulder. His blood tasted foul and disgusting and not at all pleasant.
Wolfman made a painful sound before he managed to grab her arm, he pulled her off over his shoulders and threw her to the ground. He hovers over her, clawing at her tiny body before meeting blackened nails slashing across his muzzle.
He howled, getting off of her and shaking his head.
Nyx rolled to where she was on all fours like the beast in front of her. The clothes she had made were ripped to ruins and her stomach was bleeding but the pain was numbed.
The Wolfman snarled, glaring menacing at the vampire and the two began squaring off.
The two began to circle each other, challenging each other to make the strike.
Soon the Wolfman makes the move, leaps and goes to pounce.
Nyx goes to retaliate whatever attack he was about to do before two other beings came out.
Larten was up first, jamming his hand into the Wolfman's jaws and with a force slammed the beast into the ground so hard, it knocked it out cold.
Mr. Tall came in second, his large hands grabbing the feral-like child from underneath her arms and picking her up in an attempt to restrain her.
However, before he could whisper in her ear to calm her, Nyx managed to slip out of his hold.
She turned and snarled, hands out as if she was ready to strike again…
But she stops. In her blood red vision, she could recognize familiar faces. Scared and frightened faces but nonetheless familiar.
Gazing up at Mr. Tall before slowly turning her head towards the others who came out and saw the altercation.
Just making out Hans, Alexander Ribs, Rhambus, Truska… and Evra.
All of them were whiter than ghosts.
All of them gave her looks.
Nyx growled and snarled, turning her head towards all of them before something caught her eye.
A mirror. A full length mirror that was propped against some crates. It wasn't too far away but it was close enough to see her reflection clearly.
Something in Nyx clicked once she saw what she looked like. Forget the Wolfman, the most frightening thing in this camp..
Was Nyx herself, she was drenched in blood, looking more demon than somewhat human.
Her snarls turned to soften whimpers, slowly retreating away from them, shaking her head as if what she was seeing wasn't real.
A dream, a very horrific dream she desperately wanted to wake up. Never had she seen this side of her before until now.
Then she flits away.
"Nyx!" Evra shouted, trying to call out for her to stay but she quickly left.
The child just flitted like she never flit before. Her vision around her was so red, even with the blurred speeds she had gotten used to was making it much harder to distinguish what is what.
The people she had flown by for a split millisecond, she could see their blood vessels visible glow. Every fiber in her body wanted to tear into each and every one of them and feast upon them.
No! I-I don't want to! Her mind screamed, physically fighting this feral being who now has her body.
Nyx never wanted to hurt anyone. She doesn't want to be the monster her sire was!
Flitting to protect those from her.
Now she won't ever recall what she had tripped in her frantic attempt to flee, but Nyx's feet caught something and caused her to do a somersault, sending her flying down a steep hill.
She kept rolling and tumbling until her body was stopped by a tree. She gasped, having the wind knocked out of her. Her adrenaline was quickly wearing off and she was feeling the effects of the fight and fall.
Nyx slowly sat up, hand pressed against her stomach wound as the other colors returned to her vision. She felt the skin around her lips fused back together - if one were to look it was as if they never ripped open at all. Her skin faded back to normal, nails lightened and receded back to their usual length. Though her eyes had returned to their normal colors, she had tears in her eyes so both were red and puffy.
Events this night replayed in her mind. Though the humans were the ones that caused her to go berserk, she didn't want to kill at all.
Blood, there was so much blood.
What have I done… she trembled.
Now the people she saw as her salvation may now see her as a monster that too needs to be in a cage.
It wasn't long at all because a familiar scent wafts her nose.
Nyx raised her head and looked over her shoulders to see Larten standing about fifteen feet from her.
Larten had no idea what he was about to do. He knew Nyx had no human in her, but he was not expecting to see her as a feral creature. He had tried sneaking up to her but she had already blown his element of surprise. Though his hands were relaxed and visible, he will do what he can to defend himself.
This child has now proven to be extremely dangerous, and if not careful then she will have to be put down. He hated the thought of killing any children, especially since all Nyx had wanted was freedom and peace.
Nyx trembled before turning her head away from him and bowed her head.
If he was there to kill her, she wasn't going to fight him. Though this feral ability of hers was new, she wasn't going to fight. In her mind, the world would be better off without her, or so she thinks.
To her, this would be an act of mercy.
"Nyx," Larten grunted out her name as he came up to her with caution.
When she didn't look up to him, he called out to her again. "Nyx, look at me, right now." His tone was firm and came off a little harsh, but one does not know what calls for in this situation.
When he closed the gap where Nyx was within a hand's reach, she slowly raised her head and looked at him.
Shrouded in guilt, shame, and most of all, fearful of herself. Fear of what she'll do if she remains alive. So if the orange haired vampire was going to strike, the time to do it was now or else nothing would stop her when she grows up.
Just do it! She internally screamed at him, hoping he would do it.
"Nyx, what happened back there… has it ever happened before?" Larten asked her, as tense as he was, something told him that she wouldn't attack him.
He briefly saw the scene of the two bodies, especially the one she killed before he went after her, seeing the rock that was used to bash her head. It was a no-brainer that the humans deserved it for attacking her, but he had to make sure.
Nyx stared at him, confused on why he would be asking that. She shook her head in response.
Out of everything, it was clear that she does possess a strength to not be a danger to those around her. And with the right training and discipline, she may learn to control it.
He kneels down to her level then. "You are injured," he said before holding a hand out for her. "Allow me to help. You are not in trouble." He stated. Truly only offering to help her.
Probably it was a lapse of insanity, pity towards the child, but whatever it was, death was not going to claim her.
"I know you are frightened, but you do not have to be, you can trust me, my dear." He spoke softly.
Nyx stared at him for the longest time. Completely gobsmacked that he would tell her that she wasn't in trouble and offered to help mend her wounds.
Was he truly crazy???
She lowered her gaze to his hand, gazing at his outreached palm, patiently waiting. Seeing the little scar she made on him when they first met.
Even after everything, everything she had done, this red cladded vampire had shown her nothing but kindness. And it carried through the last two months she spent within the cirque.
After everything, he was giving her a chance. Evra was the first one she trusted but this vampire, after spending Hellish years with an awful one, was offering her a chance for something else.
Biting her lower lip as fresh tears swelled, shakingly raised a free hand up. The child placed her hand on his.
She does trust him.
It relaxed Larten somewhat to an extent when she took his offer.
She took her other hand and winced, pulling up her ruined shirt to expose her stomach.
Larten frowned a little, letting her hand go before digging into his pockets to pull out a rag and a bottle of water. "I am going to clean some of the blood off so I can have a better look." He said, making sure she wouldn't freak out on him.
He would lie if he didn't say her blood was making the air unnaturally sweet. Best to clean it up before something else gets attracted to her.
Nyx nodded before bracing herself for whatever she's about to feel.
Larten then got to work, being as gentle as he could with her. Nyx would whimper and wince but wasn't pushing him away.
It was discovered that her stomach had stopped bleeding but there was still a gnarly gash. If the Wolfman's claws went deeper, she would've been disemboweled. Normal humans and even the toughest vampires may have been. Shows she may have more durability than others.
Would explain how she had survived her abuse for many years.
Once he wiped the blood, he took his cloak off and ripped some of the fabric of the tattered ends, making strips before stuffing the fabrics in his mouth, soaking it with his saliva. He didn't know if it'll work but it was something.
He would have Mr. Tall put in stitches on her that would make her have no scars at all, but Larten felt Nyx would be too overwhelmed at the moment.
After soaking the strips to the best of his ability, he goes over and gently wraps it around her stomach. "Not many people, human and vampire have faced the Wolfman and live to tell the tale, you have faced him twice. Quite a feat." He said, trying to break the tension he was sensing from her.
Nyx did let out a wary chuckle
Once she was bandaged up, Larten then grabbed his cloak and draped it over her shoulders.
Nyx blushed once again by his generosity. Whipping her head to look at him with wide eyes.
"Can you stand?" He asked her. When she responded with a nod, he stood. "Good, if we do not leave, the circus will leave without us. I, for one, do not wish to be departed from my beloved coffin for long." He said with a stretch of his back and limbs. Preparing for the flit back.
Nyx softly giggled at that, keeping the cloak closely around her.
After much consideration, Nyx licked her lips.
And the softest, gentlest voice spoke up. "Larten… ?"
Larten's eyes snapped wide open once he heard the voice. He at first looked to see if it was someone else that spoke, but with no one around for miles, he looked down to Nyx.
Was he hearing things?
But he was not.
"Thank you… for everything." Nyx says softly, standing up and looking up at him with gratitude and appreciation of him.
"Nyx," Larten muttered. Surprised to even hear her speak after being silent for so long. He felt his lips curling to a smile. "You are very much welcome."
Nyx smiled, with one hand clinging to the cloak, she raised up another and grabbed his hand.
And the two went off into the night.
To Be Continued.
Please stand by for the sneak peek of Nyx's journey into the world of vampires and more in The Blood Red Reunion-
Nyx was so confused about where she was. After losing Evra in a sea of people in this city, she didn't know where to go.
"Evra! Evra! Larten! anyone?!" She cried out but she didn't hear any of them or see them. Tugging her coat closer and pulling her red beanie over her ears to block the cold, Nyx began wondering about. The people out did stop to see the distraught little girl but she brushed them off in their attempts to stop and talk to her and kept going.
She hoped Evra hadn't pulled her far from the hotel. Though Evra was tensed of what he saw on the TV, she knew it wasn't of Larten's doing. He would be mad if both children bolted from his care over something that can be easily explained.
However, being in part of the city she was not used to seeing, it was a bit harder for her to backtrack.
Soon, Nyx saw that walking among the streets was too confusing to maneuver. She turned her head up to the rooftops then.
"Maybe a bird's-eye view can help me." She planned out loud.
Nyx looked and looked at various buildings for a ladder (not feeling up to destroying bricks of her climbing), she came to an alleyway with the fire escape ladder already down.
Humming in satisfaction, Nyx walked up to it. She grabbed the bars…
A scent wafts her nose and causes her to freeze up. A scent she had long to eventually forget. Every horrific memory washed over her.
She hears a thud on the snow as if someone landed behind her.
No, oh God please no. She silently prayed that it's not who she thinks it was behind her.
However, like she told Larten two weeks ago, the eyes may lie, but the nose knows.
"Hello little Peapod."
