In this chapter, somebody is going to escape from Azkaban! Somebody who people were hoping to keep locked away forever.

Mary Potter's life might be in danger.

It wouldn't be the first time though.

I'm sure you remember the basilisk.

Chapter 29: A Dangerous Fugitive

At Azkaban, the prisoners were as usual wallowing in their own misery. To the prisoners, every day was basically a funeral.

The prison in question was across the sea. Seemed a remote location worked best. It always seemed to be stormy around the prison for some strange reason.

For another strange reason, the prison was for both witches and wizards.

Nobody was in the mood for kissing though.

The prison was guarded by dementors. They feasted on joy and happiness, leaving people with nothing but sadness.

This caused many wizards and witches to die. They just didn't see the point to continue living. Which was a shame, since most prisoners didn't have life sentences. Unless they happened to be Death Eaters.

Those who hadn't died yet were regretting their life choices.

One of the inmates was Sirius Black.

People considered him to be a complete lunatic.

They believed that he was a servant of Lord Voldemort, and a mass murderer.

For the past twelve years, he had been in his cell, wearing a strait jacket.

A Dementor (he went by the name of Derek, so he could feel a sense of individuality) went to visit him.

He had baked brownies for Sirius.

But when he went to his padded cell, he discovered that Sirius wasn't there anymore.

"Darn it! Now my brownies will go to waste!" thought the Dementor.

Oh wait, he was missing the point.

He sounded the alarm.

Unfortunately, by the time he sounded it, Sirius Black was long gone.

Where could he possibly be?

Cornelius Fudge was not pleased with the turn of events.

Never before had someone broken out of Azkaban. It was certainly something that was going to be added to the history books, that was for sure.

To his knowledge, breaking out of Azkaban required a happy thought, which the prisoners simply did not have.

And considering that people who escaped from Azkaban would be marked to have their souls sucked out through their mouths by the dementors, they probably wouldn't consider it anyway.

He was going to have to warn everyone…and hope that a breakout didn't happen again.

Especially Mary Potter.

Currently, she was in her room, dreaming about hot boys.

She was going through puberty.

Her teacher explained that girls matured faster than boys.

Would that explain why Dudley was still acting like a small boy?

Then again, his upbringing might have something to do with that.

Though she was dreaming about hot boys, she still thought Ron as being like a brother.

The two of them were alike, but Mary wasn't sure they would work as a couple.

Maybe it was because of their differing opinion on spiders?

Unfortunately, she had nightmares about the basilisk sometimes.

You didn't simply forget a monster that was psychotic and bloodthirsty. Even if she did kill it.

And it was telling that spiders feared it, though Mary herself didn't find spiders intimidating.

Unfortunately for Mary, Uncle Vernon had some bad news.

It seemed that a dangerous criminal had escaped from wizard prison. Both Muggles and wizards had been warned about him.

It was on the fence as to how he got out, though.

Aurors were currently searching for him.

Prior to breaking out, he kept saying "I Must Go To Hogwarts."

What was that about?

"It seems that this Sirius Black fellow has a black heart." noted Petunia. His last name was pretty appropriate.

He had killed a whopping thirteen Muggles. The Ministry of Magic had to erase the memories of the survivors of the attack. Though they decided not to keep Sirius Black a secret from the Muggles after his escape, to prevent an incident like that from happening again.

"That is one dangerous man." remarked the girl. It's not every day when you read about a person like him.

She could only hope that they would catch him soon. She didn't want him killing any more Muggles.

That included her foster parents. While they didn't like her going to Hogwarts (which she enjoyed), she felt they deserved life.

Uncle Vernon had more bad news.

"My sister is coming to visit." said Vernon.

"Not Aunt Marge!" exclaimed Mary.

Dudley groaned.

Petunia pressed her hand against her face.

Aunt Marge was basically the most insensitive woman in the whole world.

While Vernon wasn't always as nice to Mary as he should have been (he once sent Mary to the cupboard because her magic repaired her glasses when Dudley accidentally hit her with a football, even though this allowed him to save money), Aunt Marge was significantly worse.

She had called Dudley fat once, which sent him crying to his room.

When she was first introduced to Aunt Marge, she was surprised that she did not have a beehive hairdo.

The first thing Mary noticed that she had a dog with her. A bulldog. His name was Ripper.

People had requested he be put to sleep a few times. He wasn't above biting people on the leg.

He didn't seem to have rabies though.

Every time Ripper saw Mary, he barked at her.

For this reason, she couldn't help but feel nervous about him. Though she generally happened to like dogs.

Mary decided to call Ron to tell him the bad news.

They had kept in touch over the summer. Though she imagined that Vernon didn't want Ron anywhere near his house.

He might consider having Hermione though, seeing as she was a Muggle-born like her mother was.

"Your awful aunt is coming to stay? I'm sorry to hear that." sympathized Ron. He had a relative himself that his family disliked.

"How's your family doing?" asked Mary.

She imagined that Ginny's parents were proud of her for destroying Tom Riddle.

She had won the house cup for Gryffindor in her first year.

Not even Percy could say he had done that.

"My family's doing good, actually. We got to go to Egypt!" exclaimed the ginger boy.

That meant they got to witness the pyramids.

"Wow! That's really impressive!" shouted Mary.

Not everyone got to go visit that country. Even if you happened to be a wizard. Apparating across countries wasn't usually recommended.

"We had a good time, though we had to be careful not to disturb the mummies. They like to sleep." noted Ron.

"I imagine that they do." nodded the girl who lived.

"Did you know that Egypt was the first place magic was recorded?" asked the boy.

"Really? Makes you wonder if you have Egyptian blood in your veins." noted Mary.

"Maybe, but I don't write in hieroglyphics." answered Ron.

Nor was he expected to.

His brother Bill had worked there for several years as a curse breaker (since Egyptians had magical safeguards in their tombs, which went off regardless of one's intentions), but this was the first time the entire family had visited.

Ron had seen a phoenix there…but he wasn't sure whether Fawkes was born in Egypt. Maybe when he went back to Hogwarts, he could ask Dumbledore.

"By the way, where's you get the money to go to Egypt?" asked Mary.

Galleons didn't grow on trees, much as the goblins wished they did.

"Oh…we won the Daily Prophet Grand Prize Draw." noted Ron.

"That's great! Is it like the lottery, but for wizards?" asked Mary.

"Pretty much." nodded the ginger. It was as if his father had drank Felix Felicis.

Hermione had said the same thing.

Since Arthur Weasley had won a whopping seven hundred Galleons, he decided to buy Ron a new wand.

No point in having him burp up slugs again. Besides, Arthur wanted his son to continue standing up for Muggles.

Ron was happy he had a new wand.

Suddenly, Mary heard tapping on her window.

It was Chip the gnome.

He was holding a postcard from the Weasley family.

"You're giving me a postcard? Alright then…but why didn't they send Errol?" asked Mary.

Chip explained that Errol had fallen asleep.

"That doesn't surprise me." nodded the girl who lived.

Along with the Weasley family, there was Croaky (who was in a fishbowl for hydration purposes), Chip the gnome (who was digging in the sand to find hidden gold), and Scabbers the rat.

Mary wondered why Scabbers was missing a toe.

She decided she should ask Hermione to see if anything interesting had happened to her recently, seeing as Ron's dad won so many Galleons.

She already knew something interesting had happened to Ginny, since she was Ron's sister and he said his family had gone with him.

As it turned out, just as Ron had gone to Egypt, Hermione had gone to France.

"You went to France? That's really cool." remarked Mary.

Perhaps they got to see the Eiffel Tower.

"Ron told me about him going to Egypt. Interesting coincidence, don't you think?" asked Hermione.

Though Egypt was in Africa, and France in Europe. She knew her geography pretty well.

"My aunt Marge is coming to visit. She's mean." noted Mary. It seemed the only person who she cared about (other than her dog) was herself.

"Well, I hope she doesn't make you too upset. Magic is often related to how a person is feeling. So if you lose control of your emotions, well…" warned Hermione.

"I'm with you there." nodded the girl who lived.

Hagrid told her that magic could go haywire when you were feeling angry or upset.

Hermione was upset that the exams had been cancelled last year.

But she didn't mind doing summer homework.

She really liked learning.

Hermione too was going through puberty, but she was dreaming about her future instead of boys.

She did dream of Ron sometimes though. They had been friends for roughly two years.

Not long after she received the postcard, Mary received a letter from Hogwarts.

Apparently, third years were allowed to go to Hogsmeade.

It was a fun place to visit, it seemed.

Though Mary wondered why first years and second years didn't go.

"The Shrieking Shack scares me!" exclaimed a first year.

He heard howling in there sometimes.

He wanted his mother.

"I drank too much butterbeer." said a second year.

She let out a burp.

"Oh dear…" remarked Dumbledore.

Mary noted it would be a nice place to visit.

But there was one detail she shouldn't overlook.

In order to go to Hogsmeade, she needed a permission slip.

Would Vernon and Petunia be willing to sign it?

She wasn't the type of person to forge a signature.

Mary decided to ask Vernon about it.

It was worth a try.

"If you behave yourself while Marge is here, then it's a deal." said her uncle.

Mary nodded. Though she imagined that it was Marge who would not be on her best behavior.

She then heard ringing on the doorbell.

"Oh no…" remarked the girl who lived.

Something told her that wasn't the pizza man.

Though if she was having pizza with her cousin, that would be awesome.

Dudley would undoubtedly want the first slice though.

Indeed, it was Aunt Marge who was at the front doorstep.

Vernon greeted her immediately.

Petunia and Dudley frowned though.

"Hey, Aunt Marge…" spoke Mary.

"Well, if it isn't my ugly niece!" exclaimed Marge.

Mary frowned.

Vernon was worried that Mary's magic might cause something bad to happen if she got upset.

The girl who lived knew that Marge had twelve bulldogs, though she only seemed to being Ripper with her to her brother's residence.

Which was good, because they probably behaved much like Ripper did.

Mary didn't want to be dog food.

On that subject, Marge once gave her a box of dig biscuits for Christmas.

Did she look like a dog to her?

By comparison, Dudley received a computerized robot.

Seemed he was into sci-fi.

Mary was grateful that Marge was only going to be staying for a week.

It was going to be a long week though.

She decided to go back to her room for the time being. It would be best not to confront Marge if she wanted that permission slip signed.

According to the letter from Hogwarts, the Defense against the Dark Arts books were back to normal.

They weren't going to be about Gilderoy Lockhart.

Which was good, because Gilderoy was now magical persona non grata. People didn't want to read about how awesome he was, because they thought he stunk.

She wondered who the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher would be.

It could be anyone.

Mary had received a present from Hagrid.

It was the Monster Book of Monsters.

But when she tried to open it, it tried to bite her.

Mary gasped in alarm.

"I sure hope Hagrid isn't trying to hurt me." noted the girl with glasses.

The Monster Book of Monsters snarled at her.

"You might not want to bite my fingers. I happen to know a place where bad Harry Potter fanfiction is kept. And that includes My Immortal." noted Mary.

Chances are it would end up there if it didn't behave itself.

The book whimpered.

It seemed it had taken her warning seriously.

She wondered who the care for magical creatures teacher would be this year.

Mary decided to read about wizards and witches being burned at the stake…and how pointless that was.

She was glad that no wizard or witch had died. Not even in Salem.

The teenage girl wondered why Marge Dursley had decided to visit her brother on her thirteenth birthday of all things. Chances are Marge wouldn't even care that she was now thirteen years old.

And she seemed like a real party pooper, too.

Well, hopefully she would be able to uphold her end of the bargain.

Mary was not a girl who went back on her word.

Unfortunately, while Mary's life wasn't as bad as Harry's was (namely due to her being a perpetual smiler), Aunt Marge is more or less the same as ever.

One can only hope they catch Sirius Black soon.

But where could he have gone?
