AN: Sorry about the long wait. I haven't had as much free time this past 6 months. I just moved and started a new job. That job has been my goal for nearly 2 years so now I feel comfortable writing again. I was so happy whenever I got emails that someone faved/followed during my downtime. I've been wanting to get to this part for a while. I hope you guys enjoy it!

"Hiya! Mr. teacher man said this is where all the new students hang out."
Izuku was taken aback by the new girl's appearance. They were just about to open their lunches when she approached.
Togata being his usual self, welcomed her with a smile. "That's correct. I've actually been in this class since the beginning. I guess the teacher noticed that I've been making it my mission to befriend all the new kids. You're more than welcome to join us!"
"Thank you!" She quickly pushed her desk over and pressed it against the other two. Amajiki was still sitting off in the distance. He was actually even further away than usual. Nejire looked over at him.
"Hey, why are you over there by yourself? You can come sit over here. I don't bite." She lunged her head forward and made a chomping motion with her mouth. Amajiki flinched slightly.
"Much." Nejire giggled at Amajiki's nervous expression. "Just kidding. I'm super friendly."
Yeah. That's why. Amajiki was wary of this girl the moment she skipped into their classroom without a care in the world. It got even worse when she had zeroed in on him while she was pointing out everyone's physical abnormalities. Curse his pointy ears!
"Hey, your ears are pointy. Are you some kind of elf? Can I feel them?"
Thank goodness the teacher had stopped her from touching him. Or anyone else for that matter. Poor kid nearly went into cardiac arrest. Speaking of which.
Amajiki scooted his desk back even further. "Hmm?" Nejire looked at him curiously. "Why are you scooching back further? I said I was just kidding. Is there another reason you're avoiding me?" She didn't seem offended, but genuinely curious as to why Amajiki was keeping his distance. She tilted her head to the side slightly and appeared to be in thought.
Izuku thought that was cute too. 'darn it!' He mentally cursed. Wait. Was he actually just sitting normally while a girl was near him? Week two at his new school and he has yet another new experience. It's not that he wasn't grateful, but things were happening quite fast for him. He supposed he was only slightly more nervous around girls than boys.
Izuku noticed Nejire's smirk. He looked over to see Amajiki cowering behind his desk. Perhaps he should say something before…
"Oh, I get it. You're afraid I'll infect you with my cooties." Nejire said playfully as she stretched her arms out and wriggled her fingers. She started stomping towards Amajiki like she was a zombie, still wriggling her fingers at him. Amajiki had abandoned his desk at this point and had scurried towards a corner in the wall. Some of the other kids noticed and started giggling.
Ok, Izuku should probably say something now. Mirio beat him to it though.
"Um, Nejire?" Mirio felt off saying the girl's first name. He was wondering why she had introduced herself that way. It was a little uncomfortable. Even for him. "Don't worry about Amajiki. He just likes his personal space. I would appreciate it if you didn't tease him too much."
Nejire stopped giggling and lost her playful expression. She looked at Amajiki closely now and could see that he was actually trembling.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry!" Now she felt terrible. How could she not realize she was upsetting him? She would have walked up to apologize, but she realized that would only freak him out further. She turned to Izuku and Mirio.
"You have to believe me! I didn't mean to hurt him. I was just playing."
"It's ok Nejire. You didn't know. Just please leave him alone now. It's the best thing you can do for him," Mirio told her. Luckily, the other students had stopped their giggling. They knew Amajiki enough to know how nervous he could get. He was still against the wall, but he appeared to be calming down once he noticed everyone had taken their eyes off him.
"Are you sure? I really want to make it up to him. I feel terrible." Nejire could be intrusive at times, but she didn't think she could make someone feel scared.
"Trust me. You mostly just embarrassed him. He'll be fine now that the attention is off him," Mirio reassured her.
Nejire looked conflicted but decided to sit down at her desk with her lunch.
"Sorry. You guys must think I'm a big jerk now."
Izuku felt bad for Amajiki, but he hated to see Nejire look upset. She probably felt like she just made a terrible first impression at a new school. He could empathize with that "No. It's fine. I could tell you were just messing around. You could still eat with us." Nejire looked over at Izuku.
"Really?" She looked hopeful.
"Yeah. It's your first day right? We all make mistakes. Let's just move on." Izuku surprised himself. It seems like he had picked up some things from Mirio. It's like he already graduated from being the new kid to mentoring the next one. Izuku looked over at Mirio to see him smile and give him a thumbs up.
"If you say so, ok!"
Izuku whipped his head back to Nejire to see her grinning wide again. Izuku was glad she was feeling better but was thrown off by how quickly she went back to her bubbly self. Perhaps she wasn't the type to dwell on things for long?
"Oh, I forgot to ask. What are your guys' names?" She looked eager to absorb more information.
"Um ok. I'm Izuku Midoriya."
"I'm Mirio Togata. The kid over there is Amajiki. In case you thought he was by himself, he actually is part of our group. He just prefers to sit off to the side."
"Ohhhh. That explains why you know him so well."
'I'm part of a group!' Izuku smiled as he started eating. Now that he thought about it he really was part of a group now. Even if one member hardly participated.
"Uhhhh. I wish I could agree with you, but I hardly know anything about him. That's ok though!" Mirio didn't want to sound like he was talking bad about Amajiki.
"He's just a bit of a loner. I can tell he's a friendly kid. It just takes a while for him to trust people."
"Really? I guess I can understand that." Nejire thought Amajiki was strange, but she didn't want to say anything else to hurt him. Besides, she had two targets for questioning right in front of her.
"Hey what's with your eyes? They're all small and oval-shaped?"
"Huh? It's-"
Nejire turned to Izuku before Mirio could finish.
"Is your hair naturally green? Are you part vegetable?"
"Ex-excuse me?"
"Also, what are your guys' quirks? What are your favorite foods? What animes do you like? What are your bedtimes?! Can I come over to your houses?" Nejire just kept firing off questions like a machine gun. She was so noisy, that everyone was staring at the group again. She was quickly becoming the class's main attraction. Mirio hated to do this, but it seemed like the most effective solution.
"Nejire!"
The girl jumped at Mirio's raised voice and was rendered silent.
Mirio hated to show his temper, but he knew sometimes it was necessary. He's a nice guy, but even he had his limits. Her onslaught of questions was irritating. Even to him.
Also, the attention on them was starting to become embarrassing. His cheeks were a little red as a result plus the fact that everyone heard him use her first name.
"Sorry for that, but you need to go slower. I'm fine with the questions but let us actually answer.
"Oh no!" Nejire slapped her hands over her head. "Did I screw up again?!" She stood up and dropped to the floor so fast, it's a wonder she didn't give herself whiplash.
Both Izuku's and Mirio's cheeks were now red as they realized this girl was prostrating before them.
"I'm so sorry! Please forgive me! You can have my lunch if you'd like?"
Izuku and Mirio looked at each other as if they wanted to confirm that they were both seeing this depraved act before them. As well as to see if the other had a solution for this mess. They looked around them to confirm that the entire class had their attention on them. In fact, it looked like Nejire's shouting act had attracted the attention of the classrooms next to them. Kids were looking in from the entry doors.
At some point during the commotion, the teacher had stepped out for a coffee break. Smart guy.
The boys proceeded to wave their arms around crazily while telling Nejire it's ok and begging her to get off the floor.
After she had calmed down, the three (four?) got back to their lunch. Again, it didn't take Nejire long to go back to normal. The two boys were starting to question if the girl's displays were genuine.
Izuku thought this was crazy. With Nejire the new kid now, he was already old news. It's only been one week. He supposed that was a good thing. Less attention on him. She was definitely an interesting case. She seems like an outgoing extrovert who loves talking to people, but she's also prone to over-apologizing. She doesn't seem nervous, but she does worry about making a bad impression. He could definitely relate to that. Perhaps he could take the lead in the conversation?
"Sooo, N-N-Nejire." Seriously. Going to take a while to get used to that.
Her head perked up and turned to Izuku's direction.
"Why did you transfer to our school?" Izuku figured that was a good place to start. Though, he hoped that he wasn't asked the same question.
Nejire grinned. "Oh, I'm happy you asked! You see, I got kicked out of my old school."
"Really? That's nice." Izuku took a bite of his sandwich and proceeded to choke on it.
Mirio nearly did a spit take while drinking his milk.
"You what?!" Both boys exclaimed after their mouths were empty.
"Oh, don't worry. I'm not upset about it." Nejire said cheerfully. Why was she cheerful!
"I actually got myself kicked out on purpose."
"On." Izuku started.
"Purpose." Mirio continued.
"Yup. It wasn't hard actually. I'm used to it after 11 schools."
The classroom seemed to go silent for Izuku, Miro, and Amajiki (Yes. He's been listening). All the other conversations had been tuned out. It was hard to describe. It's like instead of a classroom, they were now in some juvenile detention center talking to a convict. That makes sense, right?
No! Because this convict is not some teenage high school punk with tattoos and piercings, but an 8-year-old girl with sparkly sneakers!
Sparkly sneakers!
Izuku couldn't help but imagine Bakugo where Nejire was sitting. After who knows how long, Izuku leaned over to Mirio and whispered, "you heard that too right?"
"I heard 11 times."
"Me too."
The boys would have been more scared if the supposed delinquent in front of them wasn't giggling playfully at them.
Nejire suddenly flung her arms towards them and made finger guns with her hands causing the boys to lurch back. At the same time, Amajiki ducked under his desk.
Nejire made the most intimidating face she could and added a sly tone to her tongue. "You boys better watch yo backs because I'm a baaaadddd girl."
"Pew. Pew. Pew." She fired some imaginary shots from her finger pistols.
The two boys looked like they had just been shot. The absurdity of the actions that transpired had frozen them in place. They weren't really sure how to respond to that.
Nejire couldn't keep up the act for long. "Oh my gosh, you guys should see your faces! Relax! I'm not gonna really shoot you."
Her lighthearted giggle broke the tension again. Izuku and Mirio were getting tired of looking like tomatoes. Of course, she was messing with them! How could they be so gullible? What kid gets expelled that many times? They should have gotten the hint from how she was joking with Amajiki fifteen minutes ago.
Izuku turned to look at Mirio again and was surprised to see his normally easy-going friend just as red as him. He thought the goofy kid never let anything phase him (He should remember that sentence. Mirio would probably enjoy it later). Then again, it's unreasonable to think he's incapable of being scared or embarrassed like right now. Also, he remembers that Mirio was a little uncomfortable when talking about his quirk. But seeing him this embarrassed was something else. What he did next was more his niche.
He started banging on the table and let out a big, hearty laugh. "Hahahahaha! Oh, man! You really got us! I can't believe I fell for that!"
"Hehehe." Izuku let out an awkward laugh as well. He wasn't as used to kids messing with him in a friendly manner.
"Hmmm? Oh no, that's true. I got kicked out of 11 schools." The crazy girl said with a poker face after she ceased her giggling.
"Huh." The boys replied. Their young minds couldn't handle this girl.
Nejire made a stopping motion with her hand. "Hang on. Don't get your underwear in a bunch again. I'll explain. You see my mom and dad kept sending me to these stupid, all-girl private schools and I hated them. We had to follow all these dumb rules, wear tight black uniforms with no sparkles, learn how to be proper ladies, and never talk about heroes."
Nejire brought her hands to her neck and pretended to gag.
"It was so boring! So, I always made trouble at school to force them to kick me out. I threw food at lunch, I wore colorful clothes, I brought a frog to class, anything to upset my teachers."
The boys relaxed their shoulders now that they understood her situation better. Also, Amajiki came out from under his desk. She wasn't some violent punk, but some kid that hated following rules.
Nejire got a guilty expression on her face. "It took 11 times to finally convince mom and dad to send me to public school. Boy, they were really upset with me for a few months. I even got my hands and knees like I just did a few minutes ago.
The boys considered trying to cheer her up, but she quickly switched from guilty to triumphant. "I won the war though! I'm finally here at normal school!"
Izuku thought he had an idea of what she's like now. "That makes sense. You're an energetic and curious kid and you couldn't act like that at private school.
"Exactly. Sorry if I seemed rude before, but this is all so new to me and I love to ask questions. You two are like the first boys I've ever really talked to.
"I guess that makes sense since you went to an all-girls school," Mirio said thoughtfully. "But didn't you have any friends at those schools?"
"Not really. A lot of the other girls were snobbish and boring. Also, with how much I had to change schools I didn't have time to make any lasting friendships. There was one girl I liked though. She and I are still friends because our parents do business together and we go to each other houses.
"Really?" Izuku asked. "What is she like."
Nejire was about to answer but stopped herself. She appeared to be deciding whether or not to say something. "Her name is Momo. She has a really cool quirk, but I can't say what it is."
"Huh? Why is that?" Mirio asked curiously. Izuku however already had an idea. He started connecting the dots the moment she brought up going to private school.
Nejire didn't look sad, but her face was kind of blank. "My parents say I have to keep it a secret. Not just that, but any personal stuff about my family."
"Is that why you can't say your last name?" Izuku asked. Nejire nodded. The atmosphere had clearly gotten tense now. She wasn't going back to her bubbly self like before. This really was a serious matter.
Nejire motioned with her hands for the boys to lean in. They could see where she was going with this, so they did as she instructed. Amajiki didn't join in, but he was just as curious as to what she was talking about. This is clearly something private. Good thing, the rest of the class wasn't paying attention to them anymore.
Nejire spoke the quietest she had since she arrived in their classroom. "My parents are only letting me go to public school if I can keep their lives a secret. As you can probably guess, I come from a rich family. My parent's work is secret and dangerous." She paused and bit her lip. Again, she looked like she was debating whether or not to say something. She knew that she shouldn't but she was never good at keeping her mouth shut. She was dying to tell someone that wasn't some stuck-up little princess.
"I really want to tell you guys something, but you have to swear to keep it a secret."
Mirio and Izuku looked unsure. After everything that just happened, can they believe anything that comes out of this girl's mouth? Her expression and tone did seem genuine this time though. She looked dead-on serious.
Izuku should have just told her to forget it, but the evidence was now sinking in. She went to private schools. She can't say anything about her family. She can't even say her last name. He had a good idea of what she was going to say. The hero nerd in him was dying to know. "I swear."
Mirio looked at his friend and saw his resolve. He had a bad feeling about this, but he trusted Izuku's judgment. He just hoped this 8-year-old girl had the sense to not say anything detrimental. "I swear."
Nejire leaned over her desk so she was near both boys' ears.
"One of my parents is a Top 10 Pro Hero."
