Chapter 3
Everleigh sat on one of the tables with her eyes closed listening to what was going on around her.
Thor sat on a chair, staring forward blankly, hands cuffed behind him.
Coulson stood across from him eyeing the man with his arms crossed. "It's not easy to do what you did. You made us all look like a bunch of mall cops. That's hurtful. The men you so easily subdued are highly-trained professionals, and in my experience, it takes someone who's received similar training to do what you did to them. Would you like to tell me where you received your training?"
Thor slowly looked up at Coulson, but didn't utter a single word.
Everleigh slowly opened her eyes before slowly looking over at Thor wondering exactly how he had done what he did.
"Pakistan? Chechnya? Afghanistan? Then again, you strike me more as the soldier of fortune type. What was it, South Africa?"
There was still no reply.
Coulson leaned in close to him. "Certain groups pay well for a good mercenary. Especially HYDRA." He waited for a response but got no reply from Thor.
"Who are you?" Everleigh questioned slowly getting up to her feet. She wanted to know who this man was and how on earth he had done most of the things he did.
"Just a man."
Coulson looked over at Thor letting out a breath shaking his head. "One way or another, we find out what we want to know. We're good at that." Coulson said before turning to leave the room. "Watch him."
"Yes sir."
Thor lowered his head in defeat.
"I thought he'd never leave." A voice rang out that caused Everleigh's head to snap up.
Thor looked up shocked to find Loki standing there dressed in modern attire. "Loki? What are you doing here?"
Everleigh watched with wide eyes.
"I had to see you."
"What's happened? Tell me! Is it Jotunheim? Let me explain to FATHER-"
"Father is dead."
Thor stared at him stunned. "What?"
"Your banishment, the threat of a new war, it was too much for him to bear." Loki came close to him noticing Everleigh standing there feeling the magic rolling off of her, but paid her no mind in concern of what she was still doing there. "You mustn't blame yourself. I know that you loved him. I tried to tell him so, but he wouldn't listen. It was cruel to put the hammer within your reach, knowing you could never lift it."
Thor stared ahead, falling deeper into the abyss of feeling shame of what had happened.
"The burden of the throne has fallen to me now."
"Can I come home?"
"The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon your exile."
"But couldn't we find a way to-"
"Mother has forbidden your return."
"You mean to tell me that you're going to leave him here after all of the trouble that he has caused my men?" Everleigh spoke up for the first time.
Loki turned his attention to her, his green eyes sparkling over with wonder. "I believe I wasn't speaking to you. I was speaking to my brother."
Thor nodded his head before lowering it feeling over all defeated.
"This is goodbye, brother. I'm so sorry."
"No, I'm sorry. Loki... thank you for coming here."
"Nothing could have stopped me."
Coulson came back into the room, but didn't notice that Loki was there.
"Fare well, brother." Loki's voice rang out.
"Good-bye."
Coulson turned to look back at Thor. "Good-bye? I just got back."
Thor looked up to see that his brother had gone.
Everleigh swallowed the lump in her throat. There had to be something deeper going on and she needed to get to the bottom of this and whatever it was, she had a feeling, a bad feeling that it was dangerous.
"Now. Where did we leave off?"
Everleigh quickly moved out of the room allowing the two of them to talk knowing that it wasn't going to be easy for Thor to deal with losing his father and being banished here. Everleigh quickly moved to where the crater was and saw that agents and scientists were working to repair the damaged area around Mjolnir. She blinked a few times when she saw Loki there and no one was noticing that he was there. She moved slowly towards where he was trying her best to not be noticed.
Loki stared at the hammer, intrigued, wondering, could he lift it? He reached down and tried to lift it up, but he couldn't. He released it and eyed it with contempt, before stepping away. He turned his head noticing Everleigh and saw blue swirls of magic surrounding her hands. A small smirk came to his lips before he gestured with his arms. Suddenly a green and gold light raised from the ground enveloping him, then he vanished before her eyes.
Everleigh let out a frustrated breath lowering her glowing blue hands.
Suddenly a hand clamped down on her shoulder and her hand quickly went to it gripping it tightly before twisting it off of her shoulder. "Whoa whoa. Easy Leigh." Clint said, causing her to stop.
Everleigh turned sharply to look at Clint.
"You alright, Leigh?"
Everleigh let out a breath. "No one noticed a man near the hammer…"
"Leigh what are you talking about?"
"There was a man near the hammer Clint and it wasn't the one we have in custody."
Clint's eyes went wide. "What? You're kidding me."
"No Clint, I'm not kidding around. I've never joked about something like this. There was a guy, our guy called him Loki."
"Loki?"
Everleigh let out a breath rubbing her temples. "Why is it that I was the only one that could see him?"
Clint patted her arm softly. "Everleigh… you're unique remember, you can see stuff that we can't… we need to…"
"I know… report this." She said softly looking up at Clint. "But this is in the report… it would seem rather strange that I was the only one that saw him… and who he is… Loki… that's Norse mythology…"
"Norse what?"
"Mythology… meaning it shouldn't exist, Clint. It's not supposed to be real…"
Clint's hands shot to her shoulders to calm her down when he noticed her hair had begun to change from it's dirty blonde shade to a reddish color. "Whoa… take deep breaths, Leigh."
Everleigh took a shaky breath before looking up at him. "I'm doing it again aren't I?"
Clint let out a breath and nodded his head. "Calm yourself…" He said softly. "We don't need you to have a melt down here… not now."
Everleigh took a breath, closing her eyes. "I should get to work on adding that into the report.
Clint nodded his head. "I'll help them finish up here."
Everleigh nodded her head slowly, turning to go to the main office area to write the report.
"Oh and Leigh."
Everleigh turned her head to look at Clint.
"You should try to get some rest too. You look a bit worn out from your gifts."
Everleigh let out a soft chuckle. "Alright once I finish adding in the new information into my report I will."
Clint nodded his head. "I'll hold you to it."
Everleigh headed towards the main trailer letting out a soft breath. She didn't notice that there was a pair of green eyes watching her from the shadows watching her walk with a curious look upon his face.
