Chapter 4

The next morning on the roof across the street from Smith Motors, Agents Garrett and Cale were with Everleigh continuing their surveillance. The two men were bored out of their wits while Everleigh sat there twisting her hands making bursts of little blue magic every once and a while to keep herself entertained.

Agent Cale watched the group through the lab windows with binoculars.

Agent Garrett listened through his commlink turning to Cale. "They want an update."

Agent Cale rolled his eyes, turning his attention to Agent Garrett. "Tell them he's eating eggs."

"Scrambled or fried?"

Cale turned and glared at him before grabbing the com link. "Target is eating eggs, sir. We'll

keep you posted."

Everleigh rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "You know Agent Coulson won't like that." She said looking at Agent Cale with her violet colored eyes. "Yes, you'll keep him posted, but this is more delicate than what you are making it out to be." She got up to stretch a little bit.

"I don't see you doing anything." Agent Cale said, looking at her with a nasty glare.

Everleigh narrowed her eyes at him and suddenly her hands glowed blue.

"Agent Cale… you know not to do that." Agent Garrett said, giving him what for. "She's above you."

Agent Cale rolled his eyes and went back to looking through his binoculars. He watched Thor leave the lab and go out into the streets and to the diner that wasn't too far away. He watched carefully as Thor exchanged a mug with the woman that was sweeping the front porch.

Everleigh watched with her brows furrowed. She couldn't help but wonder what he was doing. She watched him walk away from the woman and then she shook her head lightly. Perhaps he was learning the lesson that he was meant to learn even though it might have been learned much too late according to his brother. She slowly sat back down thinking back to the conversation that Loki had with Thor. Thor's father had died and that meant Loki was burdened with some sort of task that was meant for Thor, but what was it? Was Thor truly a god? The actual God of Thunder that she had done a little research on?

Everleigh's head moved up when she felt something change. Her brows furrowed together when she turned a little bit. She reached up to her comms device. "Sir? What was that?"

"We don't know Agent Vincen. We're going to check it out now. There are massive energy readings, fifteen miles due Northwest of where we're at."

"Do you need me to come in, sir?"

"No, stay where you are, Agent Vincen."

"Yes, sir." She said calmly knowing that it wasn't going to be an easy feat for her to stay put when she needed to check out what was going on around them. Whatever she had felt, it didn't feel good to her, not in the least bit and honestly, it scared her. She looked down at the street below her brows furrowed in worry as she waited, pursing her lips together softly.

She watched the townsfolk go about their day like they normally would with furrowed brow when four people arrived that didn't look like the rest of the town. She blinked a few times.

A boy hit a baseball, which rolled under a parked car. The boy ran to retrieve it, but couldn't reach it.

Suddenly the side of the car raised into the air.

The boy looked over to see his mouth dropping open at what he saw, a man, Volstagg, easily holding the car up with one hand.

Volstagg picked up the boy's ball then dropped the car. He handed the ball back to the boy tousling his hair. "There you go, lad!"

The boy just stood there frozen staring at the man.

The four of them began to walk again.

Everleigh watched carefully, her brows furrowed together.

Agents Cale and Garrett suddenly spotted them walking down the street.

"Is there a Renaissance Faire in town?" Agent Garrett questioned looking over at Agent Cale and Everleigh.

"Call it in." Agent Cale said, looking over.

But before either one of them could, Volstagg raised up behind them and smashed their heads together, knocking them out.

"Never cared for spies."

Everleigh turned sharply, her hands glowing blue.

He froze for a moment holding up his hands before seeing the bag that was on the ground that was of fast food. Intrigued, he pulled out the cheeseburger and took a bite of it. "Exquisite."

"Who the hell are you?" Everleigh questioned, her eyes narrowed as she looked at the man who was happily munching on the cheeseburger.

Volstagg looked at the woman with furrowed brow as he polished off the cheeseburger fairly easily. "You're not human."

"You avoided my question." She said, narrowing her eyes.

The woman came up behind them. "I am Lady Sif and this is Volstagg, Hogun and Fandral."

Everleigh blinked a few times. "Who are you searching for?"

"Our friend, Thor."

Everleigh's hands stopped glowing blue.

Sif looked at the young woman with a furrowed brow. "It is rare to see a young woman with such a talent here on Midgard that has the talent of sorcery."

Everleigh blinked a few times. "I don't know what you're talking about." She said brushing it off. "You're looking for Thor. I'll take you to him."

"You know of Thor?" Volstagg questioned looking at her, eyeing her in confusion.

"He has caused quite a bit of trouble here. Come follow me." She said, leading them to where Thor was staying. Her hands clenched at her sides as she walked slowly to the building where Thor was at with Jane, Darcy, and Selvig. She could only hope that he hadn't tried to wander off again or for that matter cause more trouble. She slowed when she stopped outside of the door.

Volstagg went to the door and opened it. "Found you!"

Thor, Jane, Selvig, and Darcy turned to see Sif, Hogum, Fandral, and Volstagg who were staring baffled at the sight of the domestic Thor drying the dishes in mortal clothing.

Jane dropped a plate and it went shattering to the floor.

"My friends!" Thor happily raced over and greeted his comrades.

Jane, Selvig, and Darcy watched the Asgardians from across the room. Jane looked concerned while Selvig and Darcy eyed them with wonder.

"I don't believe it…" Selvig said softly.

"Who are they?" Darcy questioned her brows furrowed.

"Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. Surely you've heard tales of Hogun the Grim, Fandral the Dashing, and I, Volstagg the Svelte?"

Selvig looked pointed at Volstagg's massive gut.

"Well, perhaps I've put on a little more muscle since I was here last."

Everleigh let out a soft scoff shaking her head.

"That would have been a thousand years ago? Northern Europe?" Jane said, thinking her mind was going a mile a minute.

"Exactly! Those lovely herring people. They worshipped us!"

Thor grinned, laying his hand on Volstagg's shoulder. "My friends, I've never been happier

to see anyone. But you should not have come."

"We're here to take you home."

Jane's eyes widened in shock reacting to the news of Thor leaving.

"You know I can't. My father is dead because of me. I must remain in exile."

Everleigh's brow raised as she crossed her arms. "Are you certain that you want to continue staying here, Thor?"

Thor looked over at Everleigh automatically knowing who she was.

The Asgardians exchanged puzzled looks with one another.

"Thor... your father still lives." Sif said telling him the truth of his father still being very much alive.

Thor's eyes widened at the thought that Loki had lied to him about his father's passing.

Everleigh let out a breath. "Well then that explains a lot." She said putting her hands on her black clad hips in thought.

"What do you mean?" Thor questioned as he looked at the young woman, his brows furrowed.

"Loki lied to you, to try to break you down even more... after he left you… I went to go and check the repairs to the damage that you had done in the crater around that hammer. And he was there…"

"Loki was there…"

Everleigh nodded her head. "Yes, he was there… he tried to pick it up… but he saw me… no one else saw him but me." She ran her hand through her hair in thought. "He saw me and smirked when he saw this…" She said as she moved her hands making little wisps of blue magic. "Then he vanished in gold and green magic… he's… he's planning something… I don't know what but I have a feeling that whatever it is. It's nothing good."

Thor swallowed the lump in his throat. "Loki doesn't take interest in no one, but you showed him something that Midgard doesn't have… Witches… and you showed him there are people like him here."

Everleigh looked up at him with wide violet eyes. "It's not like I meant to." She said defending herself. "And I am nothing like him."

This is the end of Chapter 4 of Gods of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I promise there are many more to come. I hope that you guys are enjoying Everleigh. There isn't much left for Thor to be written into this story. So it will become more interesting as time goes on. Because after Thor, there will be a small blip for Captain America The First Avenger. Then it will go right into The Avengers. Which I'm kind of excited to start, but also kind of worried of how I'm going to be writing it. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I hope to have the next part out soon. Until next time.
