Taylor wanted to curse herself for being too slow, if only she was a minute faster she wouldn't be trying to find that mysterious ice-blond woman in this freezing cold. Unfortunately, the next stop was a block away, and by the time Taylor retraced her steps, the weird woman was nowhere in sight. Of course she was gone, it had taken Taylor ten minutes to run here, and she had no idea where the pale woman went. Taylor slapped herself mentally.
She was such an idiot. Why was Taylor looking for her? She had never met the strange blonde in her life! Yet there was something vaguely familiar about her. The woman said her name was Elsa.
Elsa. Taylor didn't know anyone named Elsa. It wasn't an uncommon or rare name, but Taylor had never personally met anyone with the name. Why was Taylor getting these weird visions? Were they memories that she suppressed after the passing of her Mother? Or was there something else playing with her mind behind the scenes? There was only one thing that Taylor was sure of.
Elsa was the woman that kept appearing in her visions and dreams. Her blue eyes etched into Taylor's mind. Taylor pulled on the sleeves of her old hoodie, pulling the cuffs over her palm to warm them up. Taking a deep breath, her exhale was visible thanks to the cold weather, making Taylor look like the Merchant wannabes that liked to smoke crack in between classes.
Ready to turn around and start the long walk back home, Taylor felt several leaves lightly tap her back. Along with the leaves, came a voice, a voice that kept haunting her after Taylor stopped taking her medicine for headaches.
"...wind meets the sea. There's a river full of memories." As if carried by the wind, the sobbing voice sang a haunting song. No, it wasn't a song.
This was the lullaby. Facing the direction where she had last seen Elsa going, three leaves floated through the wind, as if they were telling Taylor to follow them. Taylor bit her bottom lip. Should she go and find the platinum haired woman? What if this meant she was being led into a trap by one of Emma's lackies? What if Dad was hiding something from her? What was going on with her head?!
Taylor grabbed her forehead. What did the woman in her visions call her? Anna? But that was a common name that could have been applied to anyone. There was something else that the woman said. What was it again? Taylor wanted to scream, but she didnt in case somebody looked at her weird. That was right.
The woman in the dream called her sister.
"Sleep, my darling, safe and sound." The same voice sang, its voice cracking every couple words. The leaves flew in a loopty loop in the same direction, and that was when Taylor made her decision.
Taylor ran, following those strange leaves. Was it a stupid thing to do? Perhaps, but Taylor felt like she needed to do this.
Taylor felt it in her gut.
"For in this river all is found."
Taylor was never the best of runners. She was tall and thin, but never the most athletic of girls. Her frog belly could easily attest to that. Still, even as she felt her lungs fill themselves with the Bay's cold hair, even as she felt her legs start to burn from her aching muscles, Taylor kept running. The leaves flew slightly ahead of her enthusiastically.
Eventually, Taylor believed she arrived where the leaves were taking her. Slowing her speed as she greedily breathed in precious oxygen, Taylor's eyes narrowed when she caught sight of the mysterious woman. Walking up slowly, her reaching for the canister of pepper spray that she always kept in her back pocket, the woman sang again.
"In her waters, deep and true lie the answer and a path for you." The same voice that the wind carried sang sadly. Taylor knew this song. The melody was similar to a song Mom used to sing her to sleep with, but the lyrics were different. The meaning was still there though. Wiping a few tears that escapes her eyes, she took a step forward.
A woman with brown hair held Taylor and another blond girl close as she sang softly.
"Dive down deep into her soune, but not too far or you'll drowned." Taylor sang softly.
Elsa quickly turned around, dropping her backpack onto the sand covered ground, her hands performing a weird motion in the air. Taylor hardened her gaze as Elsa's eyes widened in response.
Her once beautiful blue eyes were now red and puffy, most likely from crying.
"Anna-" How did she know to pronounce Ah-Na and not An-Nah?!
"Shut up." Taylor gritted through closed teeth, her pepper spray ready to be use at any second.
"Who the hell are you and what are you doing to my head?"
Elsa paused, her hands shaking as they fell to her sides. Taylor kept her glare focused on the pale woman's face. Was she going to try lying out of this now? Maybe she escaped a mental facility from out of town?
"M-My name is Elsa." Elsa said, confirming that her name was indeed Elsa. Taylor really wanted to punch her beautiful face. Didn't she remember that she said that on the bus?
"Elsa?" Taylor scoffed. "Elsa what? Don't you have a last name?"
Elsa started tugging on her fingers, as if her bare hands were covered with gloves.
"Technically I don't have a last name, but if you want my full name I shall give it to you." Elsa's eyes met Taylor's own. This lady was definitely going to a mental asylum."
"I am Elsa of Arendelle."
The moment the last syllable fell off of Elsa's lips, a rush of pain struck Taylor's brain. With a wordless scream, she fell to her knees as blurry images raced through her teenage mind. All of them were a blur, yet there was only one thing that was made clear.
Snowman, snowflake, reindeer, Elsa.
Sister.
The ground rushed up to meet Taylor, yet soft, cold, yet comforting hands grabbed hold of Taylor's body at the last second.
Too bad she blacked out.

I started reading my copy of Forest of Shadows and its been an enjoyable read so far. It takes place a few months before Frozen 2 and is considered canon unless an animated feature disapproves of it according to the author.
It offered a lot of insight into the characters. Anna has PTSD because of Hans and remembers the horrifying moment before she froze. Pretty dark for a 'kiddy' book. Its more like a YA book honestly. Bloody nightmare wolves pop up as well.
Elsa still isn't used to being around other people, her first reaction being to push people away when dealing with problems.
