Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 9 of God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. Thank you to those who have reviewed this story and have kept up with it. It really does mean a lot to me and reviews actually help me keep on writing. Here we are in the second chapter of the Avengers and I can't wait to show you guys what happens in this part. I have to admit it will be a doozy. I know some people have probably written a part where Loki mind controls his love interest but this is going to be a bit different since she's a bit different from the character that I'm working with. I hope that you enjoy this next part. Without further ado Chapter 9. Enjoy!

Chapter 9

Doctor Selvig was busy working hard on the new machine for the Tesseract in Loki's hidden basement. "Put it over there." He ordered an agent as he worked. He looked over at Clint who was messing with his hearing aids. "Where did you find all these people?"

Everleigh looked up with dull icy blue eyes knowing where Clint had gotten them. She knew that they had many enemies out in the world and they would do anything to have Shield fall to pieces.

"SHIELD has no shortage of enemies, Doctor. This the stuff you need?" Clint asked as he looked at the Doctor.

"Yeah. Iridium. It's found in meteorites, it forms antiprotons. It's very hard to get hold of."

"Especially if SHIELD knows you need it."

"Well, I didn't know." Selvig looked over seeing Loki walk over with his head held high. "Hey! This is wonderful. The Tesseract has shown me so much. It's- it's more than knowledge, it's truth."

"I know. It, ah- it touches everyone differently." Loki's blue eyes slid over to Clint. "What did it show you Agent Barton?"

"My next target." Clint said, looking over at Loki.

Everleigh closed her eyes as she heard ringing in her ears and the distortion of Doctor Selvig's words.

"Stick in the mud. He's got no soul. No wonder you chose this, this tomb to work in."

"Well, the Radisson doesn't have three levels of lead lined flooring between SHIELD and that Cube." Clint snapped looking over at Selvig.

Selvig walked back to the machine he was working on.

"I see why Fury chose you to guard it."

"You're going to have to contend with him sir. As long as he's in the air, I can't pin him down. And he'll be putting together a team."

"Are they a threat?

"To each other more than likely. But if Fury can get 'em on track, and he might, they could throw some noise our way."

"You admire Fury."

"He's got a clear line of sight."

"Is that why you failed to kill him?"

"It might be. I was disoriented, and I'm not at my best with a gun."

"I want to know everything you can tell me about this team of his. I would- test their mettle."

Clint nodded his head.

"I am weary of scuttling in shadow. I mean to rule this world, not burrow in it."

"That's a risk."

"Oh yes."

"If you're set on making yourself known. I could be useful."

"Tell me what you need."

Clint walked over to a small case, opening it and then took out his bow. He flicked it open. "I need a distraction. And an eyeball."

Loki nodded his head. "And you shall have it." Loki then moved over to where Everleigh was sitting with her eyes closed. He could feel the magic pouring off of her. He sat next to her. "Hello, pet."

Everleigh opened her eyes looking over at Loki wincing a little as her eyes returned to normal.

Loki backed away. "How did you…"

Everleigh looked up into Loki's blue eyes.

"The magic of the scepter doesn't work on you does it?"

Everleigh backed away slightly. "What do you want with us?" She questioned softly.

"To rule your world."

"You can't possibly want that…"

Loki grabbed her arm, hoisting her up to her feet. He gripped her arm tightly.

Everleigh looked up into Loki's blue eyes. "What do you want with me?" She asked softly.

"You'll be coming with me."

"What?"

"You'll be my date." He said musing the idea of having a date at the event that they were going to, to give Barton a chance to do what he needed to do.

"You want me to be your…"

"Date yes. You'll be perfect… wearing the finest gown."

Everleigh swallowed the lump in her throat rather surprised. She hadn't expected that Loki was bringing her along with him and Clint to be a distraction.

"And I'll be finding out why the scepter didn't work on you like it should have… perhaps it is your magic that you hold." He said thinking out loud. He wanted to find out why she had broken away so easily.

Everleigh tried to back away, but couldn't break from his hold.

"You'll be doing what I ask you."

Everleigh looked up at him and knew that was what she needed to do. In order for her to stay safe and protect herself. She was going to have to do everything in her power to keep herself safe and get back to her team. She knew that she was going to have to try and save Selvig and Barton, but she needed to buy her time. "Alright." She whispered softly.

Loki released her arm, narrowing his eyes, seeing that she was actually 100% telling the truth. He kissed the top of her head lightly. "Good pet."

Everleigh took a soft breath closing her eyes as he kissed the top of her head.

Loki moved away from her and began to walk away from her. "There is a gown in your room that you will be wearing."

Everleigh bit her lip soft knowing that she didn't have much of a choice in not wearing a gown. She knew that she had to wear the gown. She could only hope that she would be able to play this part and she hoped that her team would be able to find them and bring them back to safety.
