But I'll stop rambling so you all can read this and see what you guys think of it. Without further ado Chapter 29. ENJOY!

Chapter 29

A few days had passed and Jane, Erik, Darcy, Ian, and Everleigh were in Jane's apartment enjoying some breakfast when Everleigh's phone began to ring.

Everleigh got up from the table and got the phone quickly. She lifted it up to hear. "Agent Vincin." She said firmly as she moved away slowly to make sure that the others couldn't hear.

"Agent Vincin."

"Director Fury…"

"We need you to come in and be debriefed."

Everleigh took a breath. "Yes, sir."

"And you'll be joining Romanoff and Barton on a mission."

"Yes, sir." She said softly. She slowly hung up her phone and let out a breath. She slowly came over to the group. "I'm sorry…"

Everyone looked up at her.

"Shield called me in and I need to talk about what happened here." She said softly and she waved her hands and her bags came to her. She looked at Jane. "Thank you for having me here as long as I was."

Jane smiled a small sad smile. "I'm sorry that you had to see what you did."

Everleigh looked down and then nodded her head. "You had no control of what had happened." She admitted softly.

Jane took a soft breath. "We went into that area together."

Everleigh nodded her head. "I know, but it's not your fault. It is more mine… if I hadn't touched the Aether… Thor wouldn't have lost his brother." Everleigh then suddenly shook her head thinking back to the blood that she had on her hands from him. Her hands shook lightly at her sides as she took a shaky breath.

"You watched Loki die…" Jane said softly, putting a comforting hand on Everleigh's shoulder lightly gripping it softly. "You didn't need to watch that."

Everleigh let out a shaky chuckle as a few tears slid down her cheeks.

Jane looked at Everleigh and saw her hands shaking at her sides. "You… you tried to save him."

"And I failed in doing so." She said softly, moving back away from Jane. "You should be careful out there."

Jane gave Everleigh a small smile knowing that the young woman was having a hard time with everything that had happened.

"I should get going before Fury has my hide. I'll see you around." Everleigh said softly before pulling away more. "Take care." She suddenly waved her hands and her suitcase came to her. She took a shaky breath and headed out the door gripping the suitcase tightly in her hand. Her mind kept wandering back to Loki and how he had perished and she couldn't even save him due to her powers being weakened by the Aether being inside of her for just that short amount of time.

I'm trying my best with trying to make my chapters a proper length due to the fact that I'm always concerned about the whole thing. Plus I'm trying to make as many chapters as I can while I'm getting a surgery done and there is a 6 week period that I probably won't be able to do much of anything other than maybe drawing some cover art for my stories that I'm working on.
