Chapter 16 Toad Sage

In the beautiful land of Mt. Myoboku, Erza was waiting outside for her trainer to appear.

"Where is that toad," Erza tapped her foot. Impatiently.

"Hey be patient kid," Gamakichi hopped in.

Erza perked up "Gamakichi-san,"

"Sorry I'm late," Gamakichi said.

"It's fine, I'm ready to begin training," Erza bowed.

"Woah, Woah," Gamakichi put his hands up "I'm not going to train you,"

"What?" Erza jumped "I thought you said you were going to train me,"

"Yeah, but never said I'll do it," Gamakichi smirked.

"Then who.."

"So you're the young whippersnapper," an elderly voice said.

Erza turned around and looked around and saw no one behind her,

"Down here,"

Erza looked down and saw a wrinkly old green toad with grey hair.

"Hello there," the toad smiled.

"You're going to train me," Erza raised an eyebrow.

The toad nodded "I am Fukasaku, the toad sage, hello there,"

"Hello," Erza bowed.

"So you're the latest Jinchuriki huh," Fukasaku stroked his chin, and Erza nodded.

"Hmm, well to start your training let's get to basics, do you know what Chakra is?" Fukasaku asked.

"Chakra," Erza was puzzled "Do you mean magic,"

Fukasaku and Gamakichi looked at each other, and the older toad signed "Essentially yes, but it is much different, Chakra is a form of life energy that all living things possess, it uses both spiritual and physical energy," he explained.

"Physical and Spiritual energy," Erza said.

Fukasaku nodded and formed a hand sign "With Chakra, you can do something like this," and in a puff of smoke, another Fukasaku appeared, shocking Erza.

"What the" Erza was shocked.

"That is basically a technique using Chakra," Fukasaku said. "With training, you can do this as well,"

Erza nodded in determination.

"To achieve mastery of Chakra you not only need to train your body but your mind as well," Fukasaku pointed to his cane. "Physically you are great, but spiritually you need some work,"

Erza nodded understanding what he said.

"Now," Fukasaku sat down cross-legged and offered Erza his hand. "Join me in meditation," Erza nodded and sat down in a meditation stance, and took the toads hand. "Now remain calm, clear your thoughts, and feel my chakra flow through you,"

Erza did as told, taking deep breaths calming her mind, and her eyes widened "What was that I felt a power surge through me,"

Fukasaku smiled "That is chakra this is your first time actually feeling it correct, "

Erza nodded "Yes, it feels like magic but different, and yet familiar"

Fukasaku nodded "Yes, you subconsciously used chakra when you used Kyubi energy, Now try to use it,"

Erza nodded and she took a deep breath.

"Focus your chakra and release it in a single point," Fukasaku ordered.

Erza took a breath and tried to focus her chakra in the palm of her hand. It was then a blue energy swirled around her and the palm of her hand.

"Yes, like that now focus," Fukasaku shouted.

Erza nodded and the chakra then swirled in her palm, but it was then in that moment.

Weak

A memory of Natsu's cold stare flashed in her mind, and in that moment the chakra in her hand exploded and knocked her back.

"GAH!" Erza screamed.

Fukasaku signed and hopped over to her "You lost focus,"

Erza nodded "Yes, sorry,"

"Your thoughts dwell on the friend who abandoned you and your friends," Fukasaku asked, and Erza nodded.

"Yes," she answered sadly. "I just want to see him again,"

"Hmmm," Fukasaku said "You are quite alike," he said under his breath. "Lets try again, just focus on releasing the chakra from a single point, then we move on to the hard stuff,"

"Yes sir," Erza stood wiping the dirt off her cheek.

Erza once again tried to concentrate her chakra, and each time it exploded in her face, but that didn't stop her from trying again. Fukasaku smiled at the young woman's determination, reminding him of two past students.

"Once more," Fukasaku shouted "Focus,"

"YES SIR!" Erza yelled "I need to focus on the task at hand, I can't think of him right now,"

After about a month or two later of training, and meditating, Fukasaku smiled seeing Erza finally getting the hang of concentrating her chakra, and he saw her form a small mass of swirling chakra in her palm.

"Now release it," he ordered.

Erza nodded and thrust her arm into a nearby tree. The chakra in her palm releases enough power to knock down the tree.

"Excellent, you now know how to focus and release chakra, but you still have ways to go," Fukasaku said. "For now let's move up to basic Jutsu,"

"Jutsu," Erza said confused.

"To summarize, it's like a spell but it uses chakra instead of magic," Fukasaku explained.

"Oh right yes sir," Erza nodded.

"But first let's eat and get your strength back up," Fukasaku took the redhead back to the

house.

Erza followed and she slouched just to get in the house and sat down at the small dining table, and to her disgust, she saw a table full of bugs and grum.

Shima smiled"Be sure to eat lots,"

Fuksaku smiled "Thank you Ma,"

Erza nodded nervously "Yes thank you, Shima-san,"

Erza ate and did her best to hold it down, trying not to vomit but in failure she went to bed with an upset stomach.

The next day, Erza was outside with Fukasaku,

"Now before you can learn Jutsu, you need to know hand signs," Fukasaku threw her a book.

"Hand signs," Erza said, puzzled.

"Yes they help focus and mold chakra, you need to learn them, and once you do we'll start," Fukasaku said.

Erza quickly flipped through the book. "Yes sir, I'll be sure to get this,"

"Now I'm going to get a drink," Fukasaku laughed and hopped away.

Erza took a deep breath and started to read the book of the different hand seals. As she read through she practiced making the seals.

"Snake?"

"Rat," Gamakichi corrected.

"Tiger?"

"Ram,"

Erza signed getting the seals confused, every seal she tried to make ended up being the wrong one every time, much to her disappointment, but to Kurama's and Gamakichi's amusement. It wasn't long though that she managed to get them right after about 4 hours of memorization and practice.

"Monkey, Dragon, Ray, Bird, Snake, Ox, Dog, Horse, Tiger, Boar, Ram, Hare"

Gamakichi smirked, Erza managed in the span of a couple of hours to memorize all the hand seals and created them perfectly.

Fukasaku smiled and nodded "Good now you are ready to learn ninjutsu,"

Erza smiled brightly "Thank you, sir,"

"Now I will teach you the basics first. It's so easy, a grade-schooler can get it," Fukasaku smiled. "First will be cloning Jutsu which I showed you when you arrive, the seals are Ram, Snake, Tiger in that order, now do it,"

Erza nodded "Yes sir," she formed the hand seals and focused her chakra.

BUNSHIN NO JUTSU

In a puff of smoke next to Erza, appeared to be a clone, but it was completely pale and white and looked dead.

Erza sweat dropped in embarrassment, Fukasaku signed, and Gamakichi laughed at her.

"Again," Fukasaku ordered.

"Yes sir," Erza said and she tried to make another clone, but once again failed.

"Again,"

"Yes sir,"

Another month or 2 later

Erza once again created the hand seals and focused her chakra, and this time after months of practice a perfect clone.

Erza smiled brightly "I did it,"

Fukasaku nodded "You are making good progress, but still need more practice learning and master ninjutsu takes more than just a few months,"

"Yes sir, I'm ready." Erza stood tall.

Fukasaku nodded.

"Now let's begin,
